  • This is probably obvious but I get mine trimmed every 6 weeks and I swear it grows faster!
  • (Hi, I'm new and) I like this post! Today's victory for me is completing my workout at the gym. :)
  • I think we're pretty close! Age: 24 Height: 5'9" HW: 201 LW: 168 CW: 187 GW: 170
  • I successfully lost 30 pounds without giving up bagels, just stayed within my calorie goal. You'll be more likely to keep it as a lifestyle if you don't rob yourself of things you love!
  • I took a week off for vacation, not an injury, but I ran my 5k today! Just repeat the week if you feel like you have to (or repeat week 5 if it doesn't go well). But definitely heal, you don't want to risk anything.
  • Graduation part 2 for me (feels real now): ran my first 5K race today in 34:44! I'm so pleasantly surprised! I highly recommend running with friends, you'll do better than you ever thought you would :)
  • I sip out of a glass when I'm home and out of a bottle when I'm out or in class. If it makes you feel "icky," try cooling it down a bit- sometimes for me it makes me feel gross if it's room temperature!
  • I graduated tonight! I'm doing the program by time rather than distance, so I ran 30 full minutes on the treadmill tonight. My first 5k race is in 11 days, so I'm going to work on increasing distance until then. If I can do this, ANYONE CAN DO THIS! Keep going everyone!!
  • So glad to hear you had success! Congrats!
  • I definitely agree with everyone talking about slowing way down - sometimes I don't even run 5 mph (a 12 minute mile). The most important thing for me is being able to breathe well. I've never tried singing, but I think tinkermom's advice sounds good. Good luck!!
  • What worked for me was not checking the time for as long as I could and making a specific playlist of just the right amount of songs to carry me through. I didn't have to worry about finding a good song in my usual playlist because I just picked the best songs that were basically guaranteed to motivate me. When I start…
  • By the way! I did W6D1 today and also had a bit harder time than usual, especially during the first 2 running intervals. It wasn't too bad, but not the breeze that last week was. However, it was also much hotter outside this week than last week and I think that had something to do with it - the indoor track I run on isn't…

  • Try looking for certain landmarks and checking the time when you reach them. If you're using a track you can use the marks that are on it. Pretty soon you'll get an understanding of how far you can run in a certain amount of time and then you'll know how often to check your stopwatch.
  • So, I'm confused: those of you having difficulty, did you run two days in a row or take one rest day in between? I should be trying W6D1 today. After taking rest days (I only run every other day, always), my schedule will be thrown off this weekend (it's complicated)... but it'll be nice to see if resting was worth it.

  • I completely agree! I sailed through D3 on Saturday and it was wonderful. It's all about good music and staying out of your head!

  • Wow, I would not have expected this! Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to work hard to stay out of my head next week!

  • Have you thought about biking shorts? I've never tried them, but the shorts I have that fit tightly in the thigh work pretty well. :)
  • I don't know if this will work for you, but I don't like running outside as much as I like running on the treadmill so I'm transitioning myself slowly. I do D1 on the treadmill, D2 on the indoor track (I'm lucky to have access to one, though!) and D3 outside. Also if you can start out on a flat route (i.e. not too many…
  • It's been great and inspiring for me to see all of you post your success so I figured it's time for me to share & pay it forward! I did W5D2 on the track today and it was so much easier than I thought it would be. I'm really excited about the changes in my body and I'm really feeling more confident about D3 now!
