Tried finding someone with HBO who would let us come over but we had no luck! Boooo

I wouldn't drink caffeine that late in the day.

Yeah, I was going to suggest reducing your carb intake. A lot of people feel that they have much more energy since cutting back on carbs, particularly gluten and all refined grains.

It's not so bad as long as I force myself to go to the gym *right* after work, because if I don't, there's no more leaving the house. Luckily, the gym is right across the street from work, so that makes it pretty easy. I can definitely relate to having no energy in the winter time though. My enthusiasm for things I…

Wisconsin ... and I'm planning on biking all winter. Might sit out snowstorms, though.

"The main thing that I learned about conspiracy theory is that conspiracy theorists actually believe in a conspiracy because that is more comforting. The truth of the world is that it is chaotic. The truth is, that it is not the Jewish banking conspiracy or the grey aliens or the 12 foot reptiloids from another dimension…

I used to get really annoyed by people who would sit at the strength machines for a really long time between sets, because I always wanted to just go go go and get it done with, but then I realized, oh, you actually need to rest between sets, and it doesn't bother me anymore.

I love riding my bike on the Oakleaf Trail! Also, Lake Park is absolutely beautiful.

My fiance and I recently bought a food processor. I've been meaning to make some hummus. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow.

I don't know if the quality has changed or it's just me, but I used to really like Quorn, but not so much any more. Really good tempeh tip there! Marinading is key!

Thanks for all the tips everyone! Much appreciated.

Okay, so: if you use MFP as it suggests, using the guided goals and without customization, and you track your exercise separately, you should try to eat back most (but not necessarily all) of the calories you burned on your bike rides or via other exercise. If you're using the method recommended in that forum post, or the…

Unless you get the exact same exercise every day, it seems to me that it makes more sense to track your exercise separately.
-
This post is absolutely wonderful. I'm going to share it with my friends when they have questions about this topic.
-
The goal that MFP gives you does not include your bike riding if you set it to sedentary, and you would want to eat back those calories. That is my understanding, anyway. If I am wrong, please let me know.

That sounds like the right approach. I try to exceed protein as well.

Congratulations! Here's to many more years of a cruelty-free existence!

I also really like the Hickory Smoked Tofurkey deli slices, but they're really high in sodium

Everything Gardein. I don't know how they do it, but everything of theirs I've had has been simply amazing. I'd like to learn to make seitan though, so I can begin making my own (healthier) meet substitutes.

Even supplementing with Sun Warrior's Warrior Blend protein powder, I still find myself having a hard time meeting my protein goals. It's a bummer.
-
Yeah probably

A vegan consumes no animal products. Vegans often will not even buy leather belts or eat honey, though this varies from vegan to vegan. Think of "vegan" as meaning "taking vegetarianism to its logical end."

Because you would go into starvation mode. A person cannot survive on only 250 calories a day. I suggest trying to hit your calorie goals every day, and paying close attention to your macros (carbs, protein, sugars, etc.) and try to hit those goals as well. You might want to aim for more protein than MFP actually…

I don't think this is really true, simply because the less you weigh, the less calories you need to take in, like Cari said above. So if you're losing weight, but not lowering the amount of calories you take in accordingly, you won't continue losing that pound a week. You might at first, but eventually it will catch up…
-
I think that you should be aiming for near those recommendations.

If it's available near you, the Wildwood brand "super firm" tofu is really great; it's easy to cook with, and has the texture you're looking for even without freezing it. Just made this last night and it was great: http://chowvegan.com/2008/06/06/chicken-fried-tofu/ I'm sure you can tinker for a gluten-free version

One night when I was out a bar, I found that someone had chained their bike to mine when I was going to leave. I went back in, asked the bartender to make an announcement, but the bike didn't belong to anyone at the bar. I even went to the bar next door with no luck. After waiting around for what felt like ever, I called…

I haven't really given up on anything (other than meat--but that was over a decade ago now!), but I've cut way, way down on soda/pop and dairy. I've tried to give up anything with HFCS, and I've been doing pretty well with that. I'm also trying to cut down on non-whole wheats, but that one's a lot harder!

I love Sun Warrior's Vanilla Warrior Blend. It's vegan, which might not be something you need, but I'm a big fan!

Every Saturday morning for me, though I sometimes get too hung up on that number and think I should maybe weigh myself more infrequently to offset that. It really is just a number, and it doesn't always line up with how I feel -- I can be feeling great, like I've been doing a great job, and if that number has moved, or…
