Hi ladies! I'm Katy, and 10 weeks pregnant with #2. My first pregnancy went pretty well, and I only gained 35 pounds (18 of which was water and 8 was baby). My concern is I spent the last year losing 60 pounds, so I'm trying not to undo all that hard work! I'm still tracking cals and trying to exercise when the morning…

There's going to be a huge difference (for me at 3.5 mph, 0 incline is about 130 calories and 12 incline is 400 in 30 minutes). There are several calculators online that are pretty accurate because you can put in your age and weight and other variables. I usually don't trust MFP on my exercise because there are just too…

The little wrinkles around my eyes disappeared since my face slimmed down! On the downside though, everyone thinks I'm student instead of the librarian (I work at a university). I'm also one of those who went down a shoe size, so all of my shoes are too loose. But I have tender feet anyway, so I don't mind that too much. I…

My husband and I go to the gym together on weekends. It's our "date time" when we can leave the baby with the grandparents. Before we started going though, I set some ground rules. 1. I have different goals, so I'm doing a different plan. I want to drop fat, he wants to get ripped. To each their own. 2. I like my cardio…

I get more of a reaction from people I haven't seen in a while. I was off work for summer vacation for 7 weeks, and when I went back my boss said "You've lost a ton of weight this summer, haven't you?" She had seen me everyday while I was dropping the first 20, but it was the next 10 she really noticed. For the people I…

I'm a university reference/instruction librarian. There are three main things I do to help keep things under control. The first is to pack a huge bag of healthy food and water. No matter how much it offends people, I turn down whatever is in the break room for snacks. The rest of the faculty is welcome to eat pizza and…

Do things to remove yourself from eating situations. Go to the park, take your family to the zoo, go swimming. Do anything active! Then you can burn up some calories and have fun.

Have you tried a recumbent exercise bike? I have a severe back injury I have to work around, and I used the recumbent a lot when I was starting out. It helped to strengthen my core and thighs and it took the pressure off my back. I love it so much, I bought one for my house!

Are there any Facebook garage sale boards for your area? In southeastern Oklahoma, we have a lot, so the girls in my area (myself included) have been selling off our larger clothes and buying smaller ones in the groups, and sometimes we do just trade. It's great motivation because we want to keep up with each other.

Freeze dried fruits and vegetables. Depending on the variety and how they are canned, some can last up to 20 years if they are unopened. And they taste good dry or re-hydrated. I buy them from Shelf Reliance because my toddler has texture issues and can't handle a lot of fresh vegetables.

I'm in! I started on Monday, and I'm doing Jillian's recommended method of 2 days shred, 1 day cardio, 2 days shred, 1 day cardio, 1 day rest. Repeat. I'm on my 4th day, so I just completed my 3rd shred. It was a little easier, but I'm working on perfect technique on the moves, and I definitely felt the good burn more. I'm…

When you raise the incline, it works your calves more. Personally, my calves retain fluid like crazy when I increase my incline. Once they adjust though, you'll drop the fluid and probably lose fat. It can take 2 weeks though. Soaking in a bath with 2 cups of epsom salt can help take the fluid off.

Very public. I post Facebook updates and pics and talk to my friends and family. I decided to go public when I started because last summer when I attempted, my husband's co-workers would ask him how I was doing losing weight, and I didn't really feel bad about stopping until he told them about it. When so many people know,…

I never said anything about sweating fat - I said they help cellulite which is water logged fat. And if you wash the shorts regularly, as I do, and remove them immediately after exercising, there won't be much, if any, risk.

Mine amounts to stress and OCD. Before I got married 6 1/2 years ago, I worked out like crazy. Then we got married when I was a junior in college. I gained 10 pounds the first year because of student teaching, mounting bills, and renovating our home. Then I started grad school and gained 25 pounds during those two years. I…

One word: Neoprene! They're like fabric coated rubber shorts designed to sweat the fat right out of you. They keep skin from rubbing and muscles from aching, and they help get rid of cellulite! I've tried running without them, and I can't stand it. I found mine in the workout gear at Wal-Mart and they have them at Academy…

The first week, I didn't exercise. I focused on getting my diet straightened out. I lost 3 pounds which I know doesn't sound like a lot, but it was a loss, so I thought it was great. The next week, I added 20 minutes/4 days of Wii Fit exercises. I burned about 95 calories, and it killed me. I slowly added things like…

"Pick Your Spot Pilates" is fantastic, and it's on Netflix! Short 10 minute workouts. The one that concentrates on the belly is really good for post c-section fluff. And leg lifts/reverse crunch alone will help a lot because they work on the lower part of the stomach. I have lost the fat and gained muscle, but I had a lot…

I think one difference between MFP and the machines are that MFP does not take into account things like speed and resistance on ellipticals/bikes/stair climbers. If my resistance is set at 4 and I average 130 reps/minute on the elliptical, I have a much higher calorie burn than when I used to have my resistance at 1 and…

Youtube videos are the best. I was clueless too, so I just educated myself at home and then just spent some time on each machine. After a couple times, you'll be a pro at it. The hardest part is getting the seats adjust so they are at the appropriate level for your height.

Stair climber, mostly because most husband told me my backside was really toning up because of it :)

I couldn't survive without chocolate. I eat chocolate Vitatops and Fiber One Brownies. PB2 with chocolate is good too. All low calorie, super healthy, and most importantly - REAL CHOCOLATE that TASTES GOOD!

My gym is pretty small, so we don't have locker rooms, just cubbies on the workout floor. I hate it when guys stand right in front of the cubbies and talk - especially when it's like 15 or 20 minutes! I can't get to my water bottle or notebook to write down my workout because 3 guys will be standing in front of my stuff.…

Your muscles retain a lot of fluid when they do something new that rips them up, but it's only temporary. I like to soak in a warm bath with 3 cups of epsom salts. It will relax your muscles, and you'll sweat out the water trapped in the subcutaneous layer. Plus it will make your skin feel fantastic! I did it last night…

Today was the first time since my baby was born (2 1/2 years ago!) that I bought clothes from the Misses' instead of Plus section of my favorite local store. Everything fit and some were a little loose!

I had the same problem for the first month. Your hormones start going crazy when you begin to burn up fat reserves. I bought the starter pack of the Equate version of ProActive at Wal-Mart, and it cleared it right up, along with drinking a TON of water. The phase will pass though when your body adjusts, so don't back off…

My husband took me to a museum and took pics of me with some historic books (I had hoped to use the pics in my professional blog since I'm a librarian). When I saw them, I was terribly embarrassed. When I weighed that night, I was at my highest non-pregnant weight ever. I knew something had to change. I was also tired of…

The more you lose, the more you'll have to drop your calories to keep losing, so I'd say go with what MFP says for now and slowly adjust down. You don't want to shock your body too badly, and it will be easier for you to stay in your calorie limit if it's a little higher. Plus you'll naturally have a higher calorie burn…

I really like the flavor of the Jillian Michaels Triple Chocolate Shake powder. I mix it with a cup of almond milk, and to me it tastes like a good quality, low cal shake. And I like the fact it has less chemical junk than a lot of other powders.
