  • Cold baccala salad made with salt cod, capers, onions, tomatos, olive oil & vinegar. You can use it as a main lunch, too if you prefer. Definite side, tomatos, fresh mozzarella, red onions, basil & basalmic vinegar & oo.
  • I have been trying to do this since August 1, mainly since I am prediabetic and hope it helps in bring my sugar numbers down. I have a problem socially, where the only options for food are fast foods like pizza, hot dogs & French fries. I like Wasa crispbread with cheese and when buying bread for hubby, buy Pepperidge Farm…
  • Not, on the SBD now, but was. I really loved it, and following the daily menus definitely made my cravings subside. Since I have high BP, cholesterol and high glucose numbers and needed to lose some weight, it was perfect. Am looking forward to trying it again since it is very healthy, IMO. Good luck!!!
  • Whoa, that sounds scary. Fit the carbs/cals for reg or whole wheat pasta into your daily numbers, or have some spaghetti squash.
  • Try to sleep more, 5 hrs is not enough . . . you can track your potassium on your daily log.
  • Since I am not fond of fried or mushy food, I stick to a skirt steak, like carne asada or Borrego (lamb shanks) . . . it probably is served with rice or beans, but you can focus on the meat and be picky about the rest of the plate.
  • I don't have a substitute, but when I buy/eat it, I buy unbromated (flour) like Pepperidge Farm.
  • Are you kidding that you would even consider "fixing yourself" and going back for more? I'd "fix myself" for myself and would not communicate with him again and thank God you didn't go any further with this Shallow Hal.
  • 2 slices Wasa Multi grain crackers spread with 1 wedge of Laughing Cow Cheese and a coffee with almond milk & cinnamon.
  • Love the steel cut oats, cook it in water and served with a small amount of cranberries and nuts with some cinnamon.
  • On your days off, make sure you have a breakfast before you leave the house . . . preferably high protein . . . you may be able to hard boil some eggs, just to have them available. Measure portions and prepack things like nuts, or anything else that will fill you up, and leave them where you can grab them on your way out.…
  • I would say no to the short-shorts in a bar situation, unless you are at a beach bar where bathing suits are also being worn. Couldn't you flaunt with a pair of tight jeans? Pick & chose your disagreements/fights---I certainly wouldn't want to piss off my hubbie in order to show off my body.
  • I don't think there is a good substitute, but I've cut my wine with seltzer. I measure the wine, put half in a glass, add the seltzer and have two for the calories of one. It works with me.
  • I skipped the tahini because at the time I started making my own I couldn't see spending the money on it, but now that I have some, I've got to try it. In the meantime, I've been making my own for years using chick peas, jalapenos, garlic clove, black olives, cumin, roasted red peppers, lime juice and some olive oil.…
  • Try increasing your protein while staying within your daily calories. I keep hard boiled eggs on hand for a quick snack. Snacking on leftover meat or fish also helps fill me up (instead of high sugar that I love). Stay with it . . . it'll get easier.

  • I also like to poach salmon and refrigerate it. Make up some dips or hummus and eat it when you need a snack.
  • I love fish, too and have a hard time getting away from broiling with a little olive oil & paprika sprinkled on it. I made a chile gremolata with 1 chopped Serrano pepper, 1 grated garlic clove, 1/4 chopped cilantro, 1/4 chopped parsley, 1 Tbs lemon zest & 1 Tbs olive oil (from BonAppetite mag) mixed together, broiled the…
  • ok, I'll give it a shot . . . thanks!!
  • I don't change our meals, however, I cut back or cut out/switch out foods to fit in my daily count. I'll make him a sandwich & put cheese on it, mine will be 1/2 sandwich without cheese and some roast peppers or salsa instead of mayo. I drastically cut back on rice, potatos & pasta -- try 1/4 cup & 1/2 cup if you have…
  • I was surprised at how little salad dressing I really need, in lieu of pouring it on. I've switched from diet dressing to regular dressing, but use only 1 TBSP. Once you get used to having so little, anything more than that is too much.
  • Opening car doors and holding doors for her -- yes!!! Flowers are nice, but they'd die in the car while you are on your date (so it might be a waste of money). Being old fashioned, I'd say you pay for the date (don't make it real expensive). Good luck.
  • If I had one, I'd post the Edvard Munsch "Scream" picture on here.
  • Wow!!!! 18 yrs old, a vegan for 1 1/2 months . . . full of knowledge and experience . . .
  • My husband & I have been married for 20 yrs and together for 40 yrs. We didn't think it necessary to be married and bound together because of piece of paper, and as we got "older" and realized the problems if one of us were to get sick and/or die. To have no rights or input if the other is hospitalized & to let the…
  • Since you are making meals for your family, I find I make sandwiches for my hubbie, normally lunch meat, however, I buy roast beef and turkey mostly and put about 2-3 ozs. on a plate and slice tomato or roasted red peppers. After a while you don't miss the bread (I used to put mayo on top of it all, but too many calories…
  • Replacement for coffee creamer, I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Love it!!
  • Turkey or beef jerky . . . 1 oz is about 80 calories and high protein.
  • Seems that your sodium intake is high (on average) -- retaining water? Also, another thing I noticed was you don't seem to make meals at home, i.e. breakfast -- maybe you can have cereal or eggs & sausage at home. There are alot of calories and sodium in prepared meals and restaurant (like McD's).

  • I don't have cheat days, per se. I am drilling it into my head that this is a permanent change in my eating habits, and there are definitely days I am over my allowance. I don't think I'll ever be able to eat everything I want, in the amounts I once did without gaining weight back. I've been at a plateau now for about four…
