I would def. have blood work done for your thyroid and diabetes. If your thyroid is off that can really screw up your body and your weight loss efforts. I had some horrible gallbladder attacks that started while I was pregnant out of nowhere. I was put on a strict low-fat diet which helped so much and helped me to not have…

Mine seems off, too. I walked over 10k steps today but it has me logged at having burned almost 4k calories, yet it only shows I walked 1.9 miles....that's weird. Looking back through the last few days they are all high as well. My scale sure isn't reflecting all of those cals burned!

I use my rebounder all the time with my fitbit. It counts the steps just like as if you were running on pavement. It's not a crappy exercise as mentioned above. I get my heart rate up and it's easier on my joints. Keep at it!

I teach elementary music. I don't have a room so I'm on a cart and walking all over the building. We also dance a lot! So I average 10,000 steps just in the school day. Before I got my fitbit I didn't realize how many steps I was taking every day! Wow! I had to change my activity level from lightly active to active and…

This is me at my heaviest and 60 lbs lighter on the right.

Cut out Cokes and switched to only water. I used to drink about 5 Cokes/day!

UPDATE: I increased my calorie intake by 350 calories and lost 3lbs this week! I have also stopped skipping meals and added more veggies and fruits! Thanks for the help everyone!

I do my workouts at night. It's the only way I can squeeze them in. Sometimes they aren't until really late. I don't know if that's good or not but I'm sure exercising is better than not doing anything at all.
-
So I would need to eat back those exercise calories then, because MFP does not already add them into the lightly active zone?
-
Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
-
Well it fluctuated within a couple pounds. I'm wondering if I'm not eating enough based on what I am burning.
-
Anyone?
-
I don't know if I adjusted it or not. I workout 6 times per week for 30 min but I put in the app settings that I am lightly active. Should I adjust that?
-
Thanks, everybody! Everyone on this site is so helpful and nice! This is def. a new journey for me.

I really like step because I can just get on it and go and I need to do something at home. I'm a single mom and I don't have much free time so the step is perfect for me. I feel like I get a really good workout. When I started a month ago I couldn't even go for 8 minutes. I had to stop after 8 and take a break. Now I can…

I did. It says according to my weight and height that if I step for 30 min on a 6-8" step I will burn 564 calories.

My average HR was 161 and I was def panting..lol. This HRM doesn't use a chest strap. It is only on the wrist and you can touch it to get a heart rate. I don't know if this makes a difference. Should I just keep eating my 1800 and not figure in the calories burned?
-
How are you getting these calculations?
-
I def get my heart rate up. I kind of measure it by if I can sing along with my music I am not working hard enough and if I can't talk then I am working too hard so I do somewhere in the middle.
-
I had a thought...sorry if I'm being annoying. I appreciate the help thus far. Maybe this HRM is only logging the steps I'm doing and not the energy/exertion needed. Wouldn't that make a difference?
-
I just did my 30 minutes of step and my HRM said I only burned 107 calories, where MFP says I burned 618. That's a huge difference! I don't understand why everything I have read on the internet..every calculator, etc says that step areobics burns a ton of calories and then my HRM says 107. That is so discouraging. I set it…

Thanks for the input! I actually do drink water throughout the day but I have never bothered much in logging it. I guess I need to do that. Ha! Thanks for the reminder. I didn't think it made a difference the calculator. <----newbie

That's a good suggestion. I have been doing step for a few weeks now. Getting ready to start tap dancing class again after labor day, though, so that should vary it up a little bit. It will be interesting to see if it changes then. I should start tapping a couple times a week and see if that changes it.

Sometimes I have to eat out for my job and stuff. I'm an actress and usually can't eat until after a show, which can cause a problem since I have to eat late. This can many times invovle eating out with cast/crew. I try to make good choices when I eat out but that's not always possible. I am also a teacher and have had a…

Got the HRM..Just have to figure out how to work the thing now. How accurate are these things anyway?

Thank you all for the helpful tips! I really appreciate it. I agree I am not eating enough healthy foods. I am going to try much harder in that regard. I will say I have totally given up Cokes, which I used to drink about 5/day. I have been drinking a ton of water but I forget to add it to the diary. (how much should I be…

So if my calorie goal is to eat 1800 and I burn 500 with exercise that give me a net of 1300. Do I need to make my NET 1800 or just my food? I am so confused. Sorry, I'm such a noob, but I'm trying really hard. I am trying to not get discouraged. It is especially frustrating when my friend is eating everything in sight and…

Oh, I'm 36 if the age helps. Thanks!

I have over 100 lbs to lose. I could really use some support. Feel free to add me! =)
