• Thank you so much for your thorough response, it was so helpful. ICE sounds great, just what I am looking for!
• Sorry to intrude on this thread, but I have been considering trying Cathe workouts. Can you tell me what results you all have gotten? I am looking to get leaner and smaller and am worried about bulking up (I know some people say it is almost impossible for women to bulk from weights but that has not been my experience and…
• I agree with all of your conclusions regarding the article. I also eat better when I exercise (not worse like the article suggests). Exercise helps my mental health, which makes me feel better and thus eat better. But I recognize that it is my diet, not exercise, that causes me to lose (or gain) weight.
• I think I will just use "light exercise" for the TDEE calculator, although I think I could probably qualify as a "moderate exerciser." I will adjust as necessary based on my results. Thanks for the responses.
• Hi Susan, I have no idea how many steps I get in but to be safe I would count my activity as sedentary (other than my Pilates). I have a desk job. I would say my Pilates class is similar to other strength training activities as far as calories burned (e.g., lifting weights, Tracy Anderson mat work, barre class). So I was…
• Where did I say it was easy? We all work hard at fitness, whether it is a barre class, ballet, running or heavy lifting. And I assume they do want to look that way, it is just not my aesthetic. And that is exactly, my point, I don't know what they are doing, so I was looking for an explanation. I was just hoping it would…
• I keep seeing this repeated but how do you explain the women I see in real life at the gym or in internet photos who look more muscular than I want to look (and are clearly not on steroids)? I am not saying you are wrong, I am truly curious. Perhaps we all have different ideas of what a bodybuilder looks like?
• I think the ballet/barre programs would be perfect for you. I started Ballet Beautiful a month ago and love it. It is about lengthening and toning muscles, without getting too muscular. The barre programs (Pure Barre, etc.) would also work well. Also Tracy Anderson Method. Note that just because they are called ballet and…
• I have it and I like it (now). When I first got it, I did not like it. I thought the moves were too repetitive and it reminded me of Tae Bo (been there, done that). I was doing it in combo with Les Mills Pump so I never really followed the schedule that came with it. A few months later I decided to really follow it 100%…
• Lots of misinformation on here about Atkins, but what else is new? :) I have been eating low carb for more than five years and have lost fat and kept my weight off. I do eat higher carbs occasionally and I don't gain weight faster than I did after going off weight watchers or other low fat diets. With any diet plan, you…
• I do the LMP at home program. It is amazing!
• Around 190 calories (70 for each egg and 50 for 1 TB whipping cream). Trace calories for cinnamon and cool whip. The good thing is that it is high protein and very filling. I often make it with 3-4 eggs for dinner. It is huge!
• Low carb egg omelette that tastes (and looks) like cinammon pancakes: 2 eggs 1 ts cinnamon powder 1 TB whipping cream 1 packet splenda (optional) 1 TB cool whip (optional) Beat two eggs with whipping cream and cinnamon powder. Pour into coated skillet on stovetop and cook med/high heat. Flip once. Top with splenda and cool…
• I do Les Mills Pump (a Beachbody weight training program) about 2-3 times a week and cardio 2-3 times a week. I love Pump! It has really made me more toned. I am considering cutting down cardio to focus more on weight training and eating healthy.
• I have been doing Atkins/low carbing for at least five years. I am and have been in the best shape of my life, even after having two kids. I weigh the same that I did in high school and I am now in my 40s. I am 5'8" and weigh 125-128 pounds. Even the shape of my body improved (from the increase in protein). I also jog and…
• Low carbing does not make you gain weight back any faster when you go off then you would if you had been doing WW and then went off plan. So if that is the reason you are stopping low carbing, don't do it. I have personal experience with this, having been low carbing for years now. I have also done WW in the past.
• I eat mostly salads, eggs, chicken, steak, protein smoothies with unsweetened almond milk and berries, and Atkins bars. My favoritie lc foods: Low carb chili Zucchini with low carb spaghetti sauce and mozzarella cheese Chicken with parmesan crust Steak fried in butter with A-1 Steak Sauce and parm crust Egg omelette made…
• I have been doing Atkins style for at least five years and I am in the best shape of my life (even pre-kids). I stopped binge eating and I feel great. I am LESS irritable when I eat low carb, no sugar mood swings and no depression. Also, I do not gain weight any faster when I go off plan than I do on any other diet. Yes I…
• I am 5'8" and I weigh about 130 pounds. My goal is 125 pounds. I am pretty happy with my body right now (I have been doing Les Mills Pump so I am pretty toned) but I think 5 more pounds would be perfect.

• Read the book "Why We Get Fat" by Gary Taubes and you will understand where your co-worker is coming from. Taubes' theory (backed by scienctific studies) is that it is not a matter of "calories in, calories out" but instead is more about what you eat (i.e., eat more protein and fat and less bad carbs). BTW Taubes does not…
• I won't get into a debate about low carbing or study you cited to, but my I have pretty much been following Atkins for over five years and I am super fit and healthy based on my bloodwork and other heart test results. Read Gary Taubes book "Why We Get Fat" for a good explanation of the benefits of limiting certain carbs.…
• Lots of misinformation on here about Atkins! Atkins is NOT a no carb plan, Atkins recommends eating all sorts of veggies and lettuce even on induction, and then you can add other "good carbs" later on. For the record, I have been low carbing for years now and I do not gain weight when I go off plan any faster than I did…
• Just buy Optimum Nutrition whey protein powder from GNC or other stores for low carb smoothies. Add berries or peanut butter and some unsweetened almond milk. Delicious, low carb and fills you up.

• They eat low carb.
• I personally don't think it is better. I avoid all pasta, bread and rice. I think nutritionists say that you can eat whole grains/brown rice because they don't want to admit that low carb diets are better than low fat diets after years of saying the opposite  .
• Sorry if my post came off snarky I was just annoyed by the website. Does anyone know what the nutritional content is of the shakes? Do they have sugar? What makes them make you lose weight? You would think the website would answer these basic questions.

• What a horrible website. No nutritional info on the shakes, basically just about ways to make money. Are any of you sales reps for the product? Just curious.

• Sorry if this is a silly question (I am a horrible cook), but do you season the chicken before frying? What seasoning? TIA!
•
"If you love carbs, there's no reason not to eat them. I routinely eat 200-300 grams of carbs a day. There's no benefit to low carb dieting compared to any other diet."
I don't agree. Read Gary Taubes book "Why We Get Fat" (amongst many others) and you may change your mind.
