  • Don't beat yourself up if you can't exercise. Stick to your calorie deficit and you will lose weight. It's easy to be hung-ho at the beginning and lose steam and quit. Go slow. I would also recommend not trying to change too many things at once or you will be miserable. Make smarter choices when eating out, have a cookie…
  • I have the Force and love it. I've had it for a few months and haven't had any sort of reaction. It isn't available for purchase anymore but I'm sure the Flex is awesome. I've never had it count my driving as steps. It is pretty accurate for me.
  • I have to have it cold in my house to sleep during the day. I also lock the animals out of my room and have lined curtains and blinds. I often have to take Benadryl to sleep more than 4 hours. If I get 6-7 hours I feel pretty good.
  • I will try to add you right now!
  • I'm doing Stronglifts 5x5. I know it is bare minimum. I was hoping that it wouldn't be wasted effort. A year ago I was making great progress with SL and I guess life happened. I'm pretty sure that once I get back in the routine I can add that extra day but right now I'm just pretty "meh" about it.
  • I don't think it is unreasonable and no food should make you feel guilty. I'm recovering from binge eating and have had a terrible relationship with food for a few years. I allow myself what I considered to be "bad" foods in moderation and if it fits my calorie goal. Toast with butter and jam is fine in my opinion but it…
  • I work two 12 hour shifts at night and one 12 hour day per week. My schedule is so messed up. I also have two kids so I have to go back to a day schedule on my days off. I have been doing this for about four years and I have found that I just have to stick to a normal eating schedule. I don't eat much during my shift and…
  • I am 5'0 and aiming for around 125. I'm 156 right now. I've been on and off this site too many times to count. I have decided I'm going to take things slow, not worry about the scale and, most importantly, lift weights. The last time I lost weight counting calories I was only walking and eating around 1,000-1,200 calories…
  • I haven't even attempted to eat meat that isn't ground. I'm going to try pork tenderloin tonight and see if I can chew it. Potatoes don't really take too much chewing.
  • I do like cottage cheese and totally forgot about it. I know I can eat that. I will also try mixing the protein powder with the yogurt.
  • I do have protein powder but I think I am one of the few people in the world that doesn't care for shakes/smoothies. I will have that for breakfast or as a snack after dinner. I like the taste but don't really care to drink my calories. Doesn't seem like I have much of choice right now.
  • I have the Force and during a recent day trip it didn't register any steps while I was in the car. I think mine is pretty accurate.
  • I mostly eat it plain with pepper. It is pretty good on a rice cake. Sometimes I eat it with blueberries. I can not mix protein powder into any food. I think it is disgusting. I like it as a shake. Also, low fat cottage cheese isn't all that great. I like the low fat version better. I also don't really think of it as a…
  • I wanted to be a marine biologist too in high school. I'm a nurse and burnt out. I want to be in law enforcement but I'm afraid people wouldn't take me seriously.
  • The Ecos detergent doesn't get the smell out of anything. I bought that once at Costco and will never buy it again.
  • I know that you are a nursing student and are in the process of learning a wealth of information. As a fellow nurse, I really hope that you understand that most patients you will come in contact with will not have the education or even the faculties to understand complex medical diagnoses, symptoms and treatments. I really…
  • I understand what you are saying but there seems to be this flippant attitude among many that vaccines are perfect and without risk or other unwanted outcomes. The CDC is now reporting that we are seeing a rise in Shingles in the elderly and even in young adults and children because of the varicella vaccination now given…
  • I understand how vaccines work. However, the flu vaccine doesn't work like most other vaccines because of antigenic drift. It may provide some herd immunity but nothing in comparison to other vaccinations.
  • The response isn't the same but viruses will mutate in response to barriers to their transmission. They need a host to proliferate. I am not anti-vaccine at all. The flu vaccine has about a 60% success rate per the CDC and that is for the strains that are included in the vaccine. I don't think it is a bad idea but not…
  • I beleive that the flu shot is overused, much like antibiotics. Viruses are extremely adaptable and mutate and I think that the overuse of the vaccine is causing extremely virulent strains of the flu. Just like the superbugs we are seeing in relation to the overuse/misuse of antibiotics. i think the flu shot should be used…
  • I do this too. It's a bit of an adjustment but I've been doing this for 3.5 years and I feel like it works out well working three 12 hour overnights shifts. My youngest goes to daycare while I sleep and my oldest is in school. I can still be awake and around for dinner and for football and dance. I don't mind sleeping…
  • I'm about to fall asleep. I need coffee.
  • What does everyone do? I'm a home healthcare nurse.
  • Potatoes sound so good right now. Hurry up 7 am!
  • Newbie to the night shift threads. I didn't pack food tonight. I have eaten gummy bears and Skittles. I need some real food!
  • I was taught in college nutrition classes that you really don't need any extra calories until the 3rd trimester and then it is only around 200-300 calories. I would definitely speak to your doctor about weight gain/loss goals while pregnant. Many obese women can safely lose weight while pregnant if monitored by their…
