Just a side note - If you're going to do Insanity, you may need to up your carbs. You WILL need the extra energy, as this is a cardio workout, not a resistance workout! Great choice - Good Luck!

I prefer low carb, but within reason. A bowl of oatmeal for breakfast, a serving of brown rice at lunch, a serving of yams/brown rice/etc... at dinner and unlimited amounts of fibrous vegetables are all "good" carbs that provide energy and promote fat loss. Not all calories are equal. If you're sacrificing protein for carbs, you'll retain more water. Also, women's hormones do tend to work against them once a month or so, maybe drink a bit more water.
