  • Fat women* are pretty rare in NYC from my observation (other than tourists I suppose). This is meant to be controversial and garner attention as opposed to truly weeding out a large segment of the population. I think they should have a "buff guys only" speed dating event. I volunteer to do "buffness checking" at the door.…
  • You are not too old for this. I bet you will surprise yoursefl with how well you do. My advice is this, whenever you start thinking "OMG everyone is passing me" and getting panicky and tempted to turn around to see if you are last, say to yourself "I am running my own race" - do not waste energy on berating yourself,…
  • you look great and I like your ink too
  • my sister in law got hers for a reduced price on ebay - she loves hers too
  • I also love my fit bit. It has definitely caused me to increase my activity. I take stairs instead of elevators and escalators. When I am waiting for my train, if there is extra time, I'll climb stairs just to add to my count. If i get home from work and I haven't hit 10,000 steps I'll go for a walk. It has caused an…
  • Congrats you are a runner. If you keep it up, you will get faster and be able to run for longer periods of time. Eventually, you'll be addicted to it : )
  • I do not keep a scale at home b/c I feel like it could become obsessive, so I weigh myself 2- 3 times a week at the gym. My trainer has said that, ideally, people should weigh themselves first thing in the morning, after using the bathroom, nude, and that this reflects your true weight
  • you should see a doctor

  • Have you tried biking? If it doesn't hurt, I think it would be ok. Also, lifting weights, if you go heavy enough, burns as many calories as most cardio routines And whatever you do, don't ignore it and keep running or return to running before it is fully healed or you will end up with a chronic problem. Chronic knee pain…

  • @knightreader - calming your mind and soul are very much the point of yoga. There are chair classes for yogis with knee issues! Injuries can be so debititating - my sister had a stress fracture betwenn toes and then realized how involved the feet are in yoga. If you advise your teachers there are always modifications for…

  • For me it has been life changing. I think everyone should at least try it. Yoga reduces the chance you will be injured exercising by making you flexible, helps with balance, and also helps you recognize where you are inflexible and unbalanced. Yoga also trains the mind, which ultimately controls the body.

  • Don't be hard on yourself for gaining a fraction of the weight you lost back - that happens, and its likely that some of it is heavier muscle. If the only thing you do is run, you need to add some weight training, IMO. Keep on running though, especially if it is what you love - I am just starting to feel like a real runner…
  • self tanning right now!
  • If I'm not genuinely hungry but just have a sweet craving, I find that a fresca helps
  • You look great. I don't keep a scale in my home b/c I think it is too easy to become obsessed/depressed with weighing myself. I only weigh myself at the gym. I prefer to go by how my clothes fit
  • I pulled my calf muscle 2 years ago while running very fast uphill. It was very sudden - like a snapping sensation and the pain was unbelievable! I went to a sports doctor and he told me to stop running for 4 weeks. He also said that I could do anything else, as long as it did not hurt the calf to do it, including bike…
  • Love my fitbit. It is very accurate with walking, but overestimates my distance when I run. Also, today it reports that I went up 48 flights of stairs, and honestly, I think it was alot closer to 15. The sleep efficiency aspect is very interesting also
  • I do really well in 4 mile races for some reason. I like a 10K also though
