  • Last time bumping, hoping to get more recommendations. <bump>
  • <bump> I appreciate the comments. Just cruising the yoga DVD's in Amazon, I see that there is so much more out there. Fishing for more comments and recommendations.
  • That's a good point, though ill be sorry not to count those calories anymore. Thanks!
  • Two suggestions: 1. You have already realized that weight gain can derive from issues in one's life. Perhaps your wife needs to overcome her own issues before traveling down a healthy path. 2. Perhaps you are feeling less attracted to her because her size reminds you of yourself, and you are trying to change yourself.…
  • I have seen recipes for homemade gatorade that is essentially some mixture of water, lemon or orange juice, salt, and honey. Some fruits, like bananas, have lots of potassium, so those may help replace electrolytes. I suspect pure juice may have more sugar than you want. On a standard indoor day at home, I like drinking…
  • I'm not certain that answered your question of how much water is too much, but I'm also thinking that isn't the real question. You want to know how to keep your body in balance. For that, you have to learn to listen to your body. Nobody's perfect. But, I find that now I am drinking more water and less caffeine, my joints…
  • The standard I use when deciding to eat salty foods on a hot day - if it tastes good, you probably need some. And by taste good, I don't mean, "Gee, salty-sweet is a yummy combination and I haven't had it on my diet in awhile, this seems like a fun day to try it again," or "Gee, my period is about to start, where are the…
  • I'm not familiar with the term 'water intoxication'. I do know that there is a fine line between too little and too many salts/electrolytes in your system. If you are mostly an indoor person, you want to limit your salt intake - besides heart health issues, it causes water retention, etc. However, if you work outside and…
  • One of the reasons why I started weight loss is because I learned I qualify for a pendiculectomy (sp?), paid for by my insurance company. If you can prove certain things, you can get that tummy flap removed. I have a surgery date set in September, I'm hoping to drop a total of 40 pounds by then (started in March)! I know…
  • I hate drinking water plain, but I love it with just a touch of lemon juice added for flavor. It is so little, I don't count the calories from the juice, on a teaspoon or so, just enough to give it flavor. Which reminds me - I've been drinking a lot more water since using this site, time to go out and get another bottle of…
  • Where do you set a goal on FitBit? Is that part of the premium package?
  • Fitbit is a tool, like everything else. It does great at measuring daily activities. It doesn't measure calories burned by cardio, so I use MFP's estimates for those activities. I'm considering getting a heart rate monitor to better monitor cardio calories.

  • It sounds like you want to tone up, not actually lose weight. Find a personal trainer?
  • Frankly, it is your body, if you do not want him to touch it, he should not be touching it. Don't say sorry, just say, "I do not find your touching appropriate, stop it." And if he does not - report him to management. Management does not like to take the stance of negotiating between kids. However, if you have clearly told…
