PLEASE be careful. I did not pay attention to leg pain in that exact area during a half marathon and tried to keep going. I ended up with a complete fracture in my femoral neck. Since you can still run and walk but you have pain, you might have a stress fracture. Please go see a doctor when you can and until then do not…

All of this advice is wonderful. However, I would like to suggest something. From personal experience, it's probably best to start by walking with minimal running until you lose some weight through good nutrition. The reason that I say this is as follows: I gained a lot of weight but continued to run. I acquired several…

I'm somewhere between 5'10" and 5'11" and I eat 1650 a day, plus some exercise calories. The number will depend on your current weight and body fat %. Find a good TDEE and BMR calculator online. Eat TDEE -20%, unless that falls below your BMR, then eat at your BMR (plus exercise calories). The closer you are to your goal…

As a kid, I was allowed to eat what I wanted, but it was all healthy. Meaning that I was not allowed to have chocolate, or ice cream, or peanut butter, or cookies, or candy. Only once in a very long time. What eventually happened is that when I got older and my parents stopped regulating that so strictly, I would go out of…

update: she literally just texted me and asked me what it was... she finished maybe 15 minutes before she heard the explosions this is so nerve-wrecking :(

my mom is there right now... (and finished a half hour or so ago) thankfully, i am in contact with her, but i am so nervous now.

I'm doing my 2nd half marathon in less than a week on April 7th! i'm so nervous!

stuffed cabbage with beef and rice and tomato soup as sauce :)

i like to wear spandex/compression shorts underneath a pair of shorter (usually danskin) shorts which reduces chafing and is relatively comfortable. although i do agree that finding good running shorts that don't ride up is fairly difficult

i swam competitively for 8 years and quit last year, but i'm going to swim for the college i'm going to next year so as soon as i'm done with my half marathon training i'm going to start training swimming again. feel free to add me :)

Thank you everyone for the advice! I think I'm going to cut down my net to 1600 and try to lower carbs & sodium and up my protein intake.
-
My BMR is around 1650, and on my exercise days I'm burning over 500 calories. If I just eat 1800, I'm netting significantly below my BMR and I've heard that's not such a great idea - considering I workout 3-4 times a week.
-
Okay, thank you! I'll try to keep it down.
-
I use a HRM when I run and I transfer any burned calories into MFP.

Sorry, I forgot to add in that i'm 5'10" and currently 194 pounds. I'll see if I can do that, but I'm having a hard time finding food that are high in protein and lower in carbs. I'm quite positive that I'm logging correctly - I use measuring spoons and a food scale and such.
-
I have taken my measurements and they've barely budged. I am training for a half-marathon right now. I run/walk for about 50 minutes approximately 3 times a week. Since I'm nearing the race, I stopped doing the 30 DS video on off days but I did that for about a month.

to be completely honest, although i keep saying that i'm doing it to be healthy, i want to look sexy and i want people to turn their heads when they see me i feel that no one gets to know my personality because they too quickly decide not to talk to me because of how i look.

check out http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/912920-in-place-of-a-road-map-3-2013 I think you're not eating enough. read about BMR and TDEE and i think you'll find that it will help. best of luck!

I started just by alternating walking for 30 seconds and running for 30 seconds. 10 weeks later and I alternate running for .75 miles and walking for .25 miles. It will take time, but you can get there.

From what I saw in your diary it seems to me as though you're not hitting 1500 calories a day - unless you're not logging everything. You should definitely try to hit 1500 (or more - calculate your BMR and TDEE - have you seen the road map post?). If you are actually eating 1500 calories a day, this is normal. Your body is…

ABSOLUTELY agreed. This happened to me.

As a suggestion to anyone who bakes - butter or oil can be substituted with the same amount of APPLESAUCE. A lot of the time I actually find that the end result tastes better to be honest.

I respectfully disagree with this statement. Eating breakfast or not eating breakfast is actually a personal preference. I rarely eat before 10am, and I like to save my calories for the evening. There are plenty of people who like to eat their calories early in the day and that is fine too. I think that the best idea is…
