Going on 3 years now I participate on the Tri-State Trek from Boston to New York, its a 3 day ride consisting of 360 miles. My first year I did day 1, 103 miles, last year I did all three days and this year I am most likely doing day 1 again. The ride benefits ALS, which is dear to my heart. If anyone in the area (or not!)…

I am in the Brookline/Brighton area and originally from a tiny little town on the Northshore which I visit weekly :o)

You're doing SO WELL!!! You're daily habits have completely changed and you've learned so much in such a short period of time, it's bound to happen. You keep consistent and that's what really matters, the long haul. Sometimes we all get down and have relapses (you've seen mine), it only means you're human

Hey Guys, I am new to the Boston group, but not new to MFP. Last summer/spring I got on to the road bike for the first time and it is now my workout of choice! In fact I take part in the Tri-State Trek, a charity bike ride for ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) from Boston to New York (270 miles over 3 days) so, if anyone likes to…

Hey everyone, I am training for a 270 mile (3 day) bike Trek this summer. I am curious to how you calculate your indoor ride/cycling/spinning miles? Thanks!

I am doing this as well from advice from my trainer, I am upping 100 calories a week until about 1600-1800 to see what happens. After 2 years of thinking one way this has been a very big challenge. I would love to keep this thread going to see how we are all doing! Cheers to everyone and good luck!

I am counting down the days until my 100 mile bike ride...4 days!!! The scale hasn't budged though, even with all my training, muscle? not eating enough? Not too sure yet, but I will see if I can figure it out once the dust settles. Good luck everyone!

I have just started to wear tank tops out in public again, my arms are pretty "normal" now but I have confidence issues. As for a bikini....I haven't YET, I looked into getting a 60's style high waist-ed one and I could pull that off, but I just haven't yet - I do have skin issues on my stomach, but mostly that is my…

Congrats!!!! I remember jumping up and down when I reached "overweight"! LIVE IT UP!!

My LARGE (115 lbs) dog's nickname is Fathead - he's not fat, he's actually all muscle! but his HUGE head is always in the way (usually the tv remote) so he has easily adapted that name :o) His real name is Deputy and I've always called my pets "Bub" as an endearing knickname and he will answer to it - sometimes people…

I have some texture issues, but wow...some of these are very interesting to read! Texture wise I can't do tomatoes, strawberries, kiwis or most yogurts. Other than that, I like most foods that are supposed to be served hot served cold. My older brother and I recently found out we both order pizzas and put them directly in…

I found this very interesting as I often say I could write a book on perception and how I was perceived 15 months ago vs. now - but what I did notice is how she asked for free stuff while being dressed down was much different than how she asked when she was dressed up. When she was dressed up she flirted quite a bit more…

My mistake, I MEANT December 2009- April 11. It took me 16 months to loose 100 lbs and I am still going for about 20 more!

OOPS!! I guess the "2011" is hard to read in the "after" picture...I started 17 months ago, not 5!

I too, I am a DC addict. And yes, DIET coke - I have never been able to stand the taste of regular coke. I was brought up on the stuff unfortunately, my entire family drinks it and my sister in law calls it diet crack. It IS an addiction. I don't have a solution, but I feel your pain. When I first started losing in January…
-
I think it depends... I started in January 2010 and am a former friend chicken finger, mac & cheese and mashed potato ADDICT. I still love those foods, but rarely have them or "crave" it. Although if they are in front of me it is HARD!

I am chiming in to "bump" I love this thread and also suffer from COF and skin :grumble:

I believe IF it is true then it's the sodium's fault and what others said about nutrition that follows and whatnot. I gave it up cold turkey when I first started my journey and since then I have moderated myself to a limited amount (2 a day) - but I can fully admit I can kill a 2 liter without a blink of an eye, so don't…

I am 5'5 and agree ^^^^^^^ In high school I ranged between 120-130 and was very thin, my rib cage and hip bones would stick out. After college I BALLOONED up to 263 lbs. I am currently just under 159 lbs and aiming for 135-145!
