  • Good going dude! How long did it take?
  • You are not alone - we are legion! There's a group on here that is well worth the price of entry: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/523-near-or-post-menopausal-group I am 48 and have been going through it for a few years now! My hair is white, my waist expanded, I was miserable and no one would believe me when I said…
  • Melbourne, Australia
  • So, what's for lunch? And more importantly whose paying! :flowerforyou: 1964 vintage, don't have kids, in a relationship for about 15 years, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Spring is here and I'm making the most of it with gardening and walking around the suburb looking at other peoples gardens.
  • oi! I've been to Goondiwindi
  • I'm only on book 2 of the series so I can't really comment but on initial impressions I can't see Cruise pulling off the required gravitas either.
  • Essactly! :) another thing - Mammograms. I've been looking into this for quite a while due to my Dr telling me to get one because of early Menopause. According to her I should get checked out but I have read that mammograms hurt like hell (imagine how much more that would hurt if you have cysts or sore breasts for some…
  • I wish I had continued for the full cycle instead of mucking about it with - already, after 4 days, the 'symptoms' are coming back. And the thing with the reports on these studies that are usually available to the public is they are vague. We are meant to swallow what they say without knowing the parameters of their…
  • I sometimes have it prior to menstruating but I assumed it was part of the migraine which I often get around that time since menopause ensued.
  • Welcome! Step away from your weapon and pull up a padded chair :D
  • I have to say I am a convert so far. I have plenty of information telling me that Bio-identicals are unproven and akin to snake oil but even if it is placebo effect I have had much more energy; night sweats and hot flushes have diminished and I have lost a little weight (1 kg) despite not exercising due to injury (or…
  • I know how you feel. My whole cycle is unpredictable and emotionally cataclysmic at times. One foot in front of the other and keep on keeping on.
  • Soy definitely helps reduce the hot flushes for me, as I've found out since I've stopped taking it. I was taking a cup of soy milk a night, as well as tofu, soy grits and soy sauce at least one night a week. However, due to my stupid memory I had forgotten since last winter that if I take too much soy for too long (nearly…
  • I am sleep deprived too! I have a fan going in my room, sleep with a sheet and a light blanket (hot flushes and night sweats!) I wake up almost every hour to pee or because I hear a noise or have a nightmare etc etc. So I can't tell you what works but what feels like it helps me cope is having a spa or hot bath a couple of…
  • Can't say for sure shakybabe but if you keep up the good fight how can you/we not lose it! Also, as a last resort (and dependent on winning the lottery) there's always liposuction! ;-p
  • Thanks for the heads up, I'll take a look I need all the help I can get. I look like I have a turtle strapped to my front and squashed one attached to my backside!
  • Welcome! And commiserations, I hope your stay at the halfway hotel of menopause won't be long!
  • Currently reading Keeper of Lost Causes by Jussi Adler-Olsen
  • I have a haricot bean casserole on the go at the moment - just the beans with spinach, carrots, mushrooms and herbs.
  • I am able to wear it over the bra band at the back and the sides and pull it down at the front so that the actual sensor is on my skin. I use the polar bluetooth strap that has a rubberized back at the censor part. Its stays in place and I don't have any bother with it.
  • I entered my own treadmill parameters, e.g. treadmill/speed/gradient/distance. Initially I used this site to gauge my calories: http://42.195km.net/e/treadsim/ Now I use android app and heart rate monitor.
  • I am in the same boat. Was sailing along well then bam! capsized. This site has some interesting exercises: http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/sport-injuries
  • I use a few android apps that are very useful but when it comes to conversing with humans I'm up the proverbial without the whatsit.
  • I have small breasts and they still hurt like hell when I run or do any kind of jumping about. I don't wear a bra normally but I have taken to wearing two whenever I exercise. That was the first and best information I found in this group - before that I was trying to run and hold them in place! Finding good ones is not…
  • I don't know if it gets better afterwards - here's hoping because my memory is selective at best and embarrassing at worst. I forget the meaning of words, the names of things and I've notice a persistent and chronic dyslexia which I never had before.
  • Yes that has happened s to me too, though not as heavy as your sounds but a similar cycle. Seems to have eased off now though... famous last words. Also what megleo said. Best wishes.
  • I found these online somewhere and made a copy for the inevitable injury/down times: Seated leg raises: you can complete these either sitting in a chair with your leg out in front, or sitting on the ground with both legs out in front. Squeezing through your thigh muscle (your quad), raise one foot up off the ground, with a…
  • I log on here every day. I subscribe to online clothes stores that send me ads to tempt me to buy things that I can't fit into without looking like a sausage bursting out of its skin! I clutch the air in a fist and say "not yet, but one day!"
  • It sounds like it might be the go for you - as long as you commit to use it. You can add in other exercise to balance your fitness. I use a treadmill at home and I like it a lot. Previously I loved going to the gym but in a similar situation to you I didn't want to be around people and I didn't want to have to travel to…
  • If you are not used to the climate up there maybe that is effecting you. I find humidity wipes me out. I become lethargic when it is hot and muggy but I feel the opposite in dry heat.
