thinking about trying to make some tofu jerky--high in protein, low in almost everything else, and WAY cheaper than buying or making meat jerky.

back after a long time away, most of my original friends are inactive!

its just a thing you can track if you want to. If people are drinking two gallons a day because they think they'll eat less and lose faster that's indicative of a worse disorder than that article will fix. Mfp didn't make them do it.

MY skin. Mine. I'm not making a blanket statement. Liking water doesn't make me a sheep, i never said it was magical.
-
it's not the key to weight loss by any stretch but it's still good for you. I bloat a little bit less and my skin is clearer when I'm drinking lots of water over other liquids. Not sure why there's so much water controversy lately lol.

Dump him. You're 21, right? there are way too many dudes out there to put up with someone that unsupportive/controlling. No one needs to be "in trouble" w/ their s/o. Tell him to call you when he grows up.

People think that's a good thing to say and I know they mean it as a compliment but it's ok to be bothered by it. Your body isn't actually their business and you don't have to talk about it to anyone. People make way too big a deal over what other people look like.

same. I walk my dog and walk during my work break, and this setting will rack up the exercise calories unbelievably quickly lol.

for deadlifts you need to start with the bar around mid-shin. Higher and you don't get the full compound movement, lower and you won't be able to straighten your lower back and still reach the bar. This is important for form because to not tire out your back, you need to set it down after every rep, moving up and down…

Agreed. drinking 64-100oz a day takes getting used to, when I started I would never be able to reach that just going by thirst unless I had a really hard workout. maybe. It helps me to keep track and try to have a certain amount drunk by lunchtime etc.

B-day: Squat: 65lb 5x5. Really focused on not tipping forward on the way up, wasn't successful every rep, but definitely better than last time. this is getting hard, lol. But I'll try 70lb. OH press. 50lb 5x5. This is still super hard, I've deloaded once already. On the last two reps today I could barely get the bar up and…

This is why so many overweight people don't go to the doctor as much as they should. It's so often discouraging and unproductive. So many doctors will look at you and automatically chalk every symptom up to your weight, give nonconstructive and impersonal advice about losing, then call it a day. Conditions go undiagnosed…

Steps on the charge hr I find to be quite accurate, more than my phone was and more constant because it's always on you. I don't know about the A300 and whether it tracks your daily activity/TDEE the way fitbits do, but that's my favorite thing about my Fitbit. If you log accurately and setup correctly with mfp you'll find…

I would absolutely take SueinAZ's advice and focus on food for the first few weeks. keep in mind that with a schedule this busy there will be more opportunities to get some walking in, which will give you some workout calorie wiggle room to work with while you figure the rest of your exercise out. I'm not sure what type of…

dude doritos have TONS of sodium. Honestly almost any time you eat out or eat salty snacks like that, expect some bloat. That doesn't mean you shouldn't ever eat them if it fits your calories but just keep it in mind whenever you have a salt spike. It usually shows and usually takes a few days to flush out. make sure…
-
Did you track whatever you ate and if so, was that more than 7000 calories over maintenance? That's the only way you would've gained that much in a week. If not, you could be holding onto water from excess sodium etc. Just log it accurately, keep doing what you're doing, and move on.

You need to set both MFP and Fitbit to sedentary for fitbit step-based adjustments to be meaningful (where's editorgrrl with that helpful post of hers lol), you also need to have negative calorie adjustments enabled. That's how you get your real TDEE minus deficit from fitbit/MFP. If you have MFP set to lightly active it's…

Squat - 65lb. I could get the bar up 5x5 times but I can feel my form is all over the place. my upper body tips forward on the way up because I raise my hips before my chest. Need to really focus on keeping the bar over midfoot through the whole movement so I'm going to stay here for another day and work on that. I did…

I second this, my dog gives me the most adorably pitiful look if I haven't walked her. "mom? what's going on? did i do something wrong? is that why you're sitting here when my leash is right over there?" :P I'm dreading the winter months when it'll be harder for me to take her on longer walks but we're going to tough it…

Word. Not sure why so many people don't understand the concept of minding ones own business.

man i LOVE turning all those meters green for the day. It's even got me drinking more than 8 cups of water which I typically struggle with.
-
It's called DriveBit, you just hit 'start' and 'stop' and it links with fitbit to log the drive and remove any steps counted.
-
This is why I love mine, it's been so illuminating to see how much I can really afford to eat in a day, just off daily activity. If I take my dog for a walk and get a walk in on my lunch break at work, both things I try to do daily anyway, I can easily burn 2500+ cal/day without going to the gym. Or I can go and just lift…

I'm not sure "convince yourself you're not hungry" is a healthy strategy. It does no good to go from one extreme to another just because you want to lose weight. You should be eating for fuel and enjoyment, but not more fuel than you need. It's about learning to moderate not learning to be ok w/starving.
-
I agree it doesn't need to be a charge hr, that just happens to be the one I have. At this point I'd swear by any Fitbit model lol. The app is the same no matter what. If it's waterproof she needs and she wants it on her arm, the Fitbit flex might be the ticket

Yeah whoever coined it, that quote is the worst.

Absolutely crazy about my Fitbit charge HR so far, only been about a week and a half but it is so freeing knowing how much I can really eat in a day and still lose, as long as I stay moving. It does two things--gives you your TDEE on a day by day basis, and pushes you to move more. You want to get those steps to beat your…

Absolutely! I was joking;)

LOL! You have no self discipline, such a shame :P
