  • Hi, I'm 5'2 and currently 107 pounds. I aim for 108 and generally sit at 107.5. I fluctuate a bit and just adjust my calories accordingly. It seems that petite women only get a small amount back when they go on maintenance. I went from 1200 to 1230, but like I said, If my weight drops a bit I just increase my calories and…
  • Middlehaitch, my weight loss was consistent. Someone mentioned in one of my earlier posts that 1200 calories is the lowest MFP will allocate to you when you first register. Given that I'm only 5'2", I think if they could have allocated less they would have, then I would have seen the larger increase in calories on…
  • Well done! I've just stared maintenance after a similar loss of 33 pounds at age 66. It's so inspirational to see someone close to my age, albeit younger, having such great success. Congratulations! You're an inspiration to all of us.
  • It took me 255 days to lose 33.5 pounds. I'm so glad it took me that long as it gave me time to develop good habits and change my relationship with food. Now it's just become a good long-term habit.
  • I'm gathering up my coats and suits and donating them. I went from an 8 petite to a 2 and my old clothes are just hanging off me. I don't want to keep anything as after 255 days I now have a new relationship with food. Besides it would be hard to see them in my closet when I know someone could really use them.
  • Since I started this thread I think I'll weigh in again, no pun intended. On 1200 calories I was losing on average a pound a week. It appears when you're petite you just get a small number of calories back on maintenance, but I think it's going to be different for each person. I will continue to log on and just take it day…
  • I'm 5'2" and 108 lbs and I just started maintenance and MFP gave me 1230. Apparently if we're petite we only get a few back
  • Thanks so much. I applied to join the group yesterday so hopefully that will work out. The biggest shock is realizing how many calories I must have been consuming to get to 141!! I'm in such a routine now that it's kind of reassuring to know that I shouldn't have to drastically increase my intake to maintain. Pam
  • Thanks for your comments every one. I went into my settings to reset it to maintenance only to discover that I had done that correctly, and similar to ejbronte above, I got an additional thirty (30) calories. I'll watch carefully, but I may have to increase that as I suspect I'll keep losing at that rate.
  • Folks, unless I've done something wrong my caloric goal went from 1200 to 1230. I set my goal at 108 pounds and showed my weight at 108, indicating I'd reached my goal. My new caloric count poped up at 1230. Even I thought that seemed wrong as 30 more calories equals one of my favourite crackers. Have I done something…
  • Yes. My arthritis has improved in leaps and bounds. I'm 5 pounds short of my goal, and before losing 24 pounds was experiencing horrible bouts of sciatica. I took a size 6 outfit into a dressing room on the weekend only to discover that I needed a 4. Did I feel good, you bet your life I did. I've worked darn hard to get…
  • I'll play along. Etobicoke here!
  • I love Natas, Portuguese egg tarts. I was beyond happy when I found out there were only 127 calories in one and they freeze beautifully! It's funny how something so simple can be the inspiration you need to persevere, lol.
  • I'm 5'2, 65 years old and so far have lost 15.5 pounds. I work out at Curves five days a week. I plan to lose another 5 - 8 pounds . Working out definitely helps me as I'm on 1200 calories a day. This is not a quick process as I average 1 to 1.5 pounds per week. The exercising really helps and now has become a habit. I…
  • I also plan on logging on a permanent basis. If I don't it just turns into mindless eating. I log my breakfast and lunch the night before, that way I only have to worry about logging dinner the next day. It works for me and helps me plan out my meals ahead.
  • Ninerbuff, I don't have a link because I read the journal, not online. If I recall correctly it was an article entitled Appetite by Gherhardt.
  • Jasmine, regarding your sugar addiction. Researchers at Yale University recently revealed that dramatic falls in blood sugar occur after eating "bad" carbohydrates, i.e., sugar, sweets, etc. This drop in blood sugar affects the part of the brain controlling impulse. This leads to a loss of self-control and subsequent…
  • The thing I love about MFP is that I can have what I like only in moderation. I definitely wouldn't feel bad about the cake. I budget my calories so I can have a piece of chocolate every night. Look at it this way, you stopped at one piece and you exercised beforehand. It's all good.

  • We are really close except I'm 5 years older but everything else is pretty similar. Digby'smom
  • Hi Janice, I sent you a message. Outside of our age difference I think we're pretty similar. Pam
  • I would love a twin. Female Age: 62 Height: 5'2" SW; 137 CW: 135.5 GW: 115 I gained 1.5 pounds, and today I forced myself, with my arthritis, to climb 12 flights of stairs. I really need a twin
  • Thanks everyone. I'm pretty sure I'm a restless sleeper. I know I toss and turn a lot. I'm adjusting the setting to normal for tonight and I'll see if that makes a difference. Boy no wonder I wake up tired! Thanks again. Pam
  • I'm just bumping this in the hopes someone's had a similar stat.
