  • I had the same problem. I had to buy new clothes at about the 35-40 lb mark. I would suggest getting just a few essentials. And try thrift store. I am not able to find much in thrift stores, because I am tall and they very rarely have anything that is long enough for me. I went to a JC Penney Outlet. They had dress pants…
  • I have the Timex T5G971 Unisex Sports Personal Heart Rate Monitor Watch. It is pretty cheap and I use it while I swim. It seems to be pretty accurate. I bought it from Amazon.com. The manual warns not to push buttons under water. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P8VWQS
  • If you have a membership or know someone who does, they are really cheap there. In Kansas City I got 600 count of 2000 IU for less than $11. And they are also the small liquid gels.
  • I don't really have an answer for you, but... I have also looked at the first website you mentioned before. It tells you to put in a VO2 max of 35 if you don't know yours. That will change the number of calories it says you burn. I tried it for the workout I just completed and with a VO2 max of 0 the calories burned where…
  • I take Women's One A Day - active mind and body - I feel drained if I don't take it. My doctor told me to take Vitamin D3. Not sure if I feel any different, but I don't feel tired in the afternoons anymore. Not sure if that is the vitamin or something else. I like it either way.
  • The best way to track the calories burned is to use a heart rate monitor. I'm guessing you don't have one or you wouldn't be asking, so I would say use the amount the machine gives you. The database can not track intensity of the workout, so can't be accurate.
  • The best cardio for the knees is to use an elliptical. I know that's not a video, but after I had my ACL replaced in my knee, that's what the doctor and the physical therapists said.
  • I'm not sure what we are doing yet, but here are a few suggestions; grilled chicken sausage, black bean burgers, grilled portabello mushrooms, lots of veggies with light ranch dip, baked beans or bbq beans are not too bad if you watch your portions. I find that the longer I do this, the less I am able to eat. I'm sure you…
  • I bought a Timex Personal Trainer. It was $35.99 on Amazon. Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P8VWQS. I did 45 min on the elliptical and it said I burned 990 calories. I need to make sure all the settings are correct. That seems high to me.
  • Most mornings, including this morning I have 1 slice whole wheat toasted with 1 tbsp peanut butter topped with a sliced banana, and 1 cup skim milk. I eat at about 6:30am and this keeps me happy until about 12:30 when I eat lunch. Sometimes I have a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts around 10:00am if I need to, but most…
  • My scale can do that within seconds. My scale sits on tile, so if it isn't level it is inaccurate. Just a thought.
  • I am reading a book righ tnow called Food Rules. It says that Western food (meaning the U.S) is the cause of a lot of preventable diseases, like heart disease, diabetes, cancer, etc.... The cause of most of this is processed foods and refined sugars. So what does this have to do with your time abroad??? I say that as long…
  • Love the corn tortilla idea. My husband fries his in olive oil, but I know it adds quite a bit of cals and fat. So I'll have to try the toaster oven idea! I can even do this at work!
  • No one has mentioned this yet. I have a friend that has always been big chested. When she had kids, they got larger, like most women. However, when she stopped nursing, they never went back down. She lost all her preganancy weight and they stayed. She went to a surgeon and he told her that there are some women that once…
  • Pickles are almost free. If you look at the calorie content it is extremely low. For example, 3 spicy baby dill pickles are 5 calories. I've even seen some that say 0.
  • Does it have a calorie counting feature?
  • My husband had been drinking chocolate soy milk after his P90X workouts.
  • For the math impaired, I found a website that will do this for you. http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/body-fat-percentage-calculator.php
  • I have always been overweight, even in high school. I have had 4 surgeries in 4 years (all for various things) and each time I gained a little more weight. In July of 2010, I had my second back surgery in less than a year. While not all of it was because I was overweight, it was a big part of it. In September when I got…
  • Height: 5'11" Current weight: 216.8lbs MFP daily calorie goal: 1770 Exercise calories burned per day ranges from 400-700. And I don't usually eat them back. I have a high calorie goal and would be stuffing myself if I ate them. A couple times a month I will eat some of them.
  • I've lost 35lbs. I was wearing a size 20 tightly and 22 comfortably. The 22's no longer fit. They fall right off me. The 20's are too big too, but I just wear a belt. I could probably wear a size 18, but I have been this size for so long that I don't own any smaller pants. Once I meet my goal (17lbs to go!), I will buy…
  • Thank you so much! Once a month we have a potluck lunch at work and I never know what to bring. I also play bunko once a month and we are supposed to bring snacks. I've been taking crackers and cheese because I can count the calories easily. But I love the idea of bringing something a little more fun. Great recipes. I…
  • What kind of exercise are you doing? I had back surgery in July and have been in physical therapy since August. I started using the elliptical in October. I mentioned the same thing to my therapist. We are both tall (5'11") and she said that because the elliptical is designed for a person of average height that is one of…
