  • For me at this point in my journey, avoiding trigger foods works better for me than moderation. Sometimes, I can moderate and get back on track quickly. Sometimes, like last weekend with the 4th of July, I blow a weekend eating crap. If I don't let myself even consider eating junk food, I won't get into that situation…
  • Thanks so much for the feedback! I would like to have a vow renewal in the future - we'll see if life has that in store for us. New pictures is a big motivation. Our original pictures were bad regardless of my size. And it's a really good point that struggling with issues in life doesn't make us a bad person...just a…
  • Eating out with people still makes me a little nervous, but it gets better over time. You get better at making solid choices and accounting for calories. I would study a menu for an hour prior to each lunch out just to try to keep from ordering the "wrong" thing. Now, I still look at the menu, but I don't panic, and I try…
  • I've given up most restaurant foods other than Chipotle salads with meat/mild salsa/guac. Even that is a lot of calories, but if you really pile on the lettuce, it's also a lot of food. I've given up sweets full stop because I will eat them until I explode! I try to eat around 1200 calories and it's so hard to do that and…
  • Anyone can feel free to add me too - I'm happy to support other members and have about 100 pounds to lose as well!
  • I have 100 too and am happy to add all new friends!
  • I feel ya! I have three sizes of too-small jeans in my closet too. I visit and wave at them sometimes - soon enough I will be wearing them, this I promise!! Funny post :-)
  • Beautiful post! I am aiming for wonderland too, this helps me keep perspective. Thank you!
  • I have MS and have a damaged right side of my body as a result. The best thing I did when I really wanted to start getting active was to go to a physical therapist. He evaluated the imbalance between my sides and assigned me exercises that I could do to help to tone muscle groups that my usual exercise routine was missing.…
  • You look wonderful, and, more importantly, feel better! Great work, this really helps to motivate me too!
  • I forgot to weigh in this week before breakfast, but I will post my starting weight nonetheless: SW: 231.9 Kind of a bummer, as my last weigh in before starting the challenge was 230 on the nose, but what do you do? Nowhere to go but forward.
  • I am just getting started again, so modest goals this week! Exercise goal: Wear Fitbit every day, aim for over 5000 steps Food goal: Log every day, weigh in on Wednesday Wellness goal: Take care of skin every day Reward: at home mani
  • My goal is 17 by Christmas, a Winter Onederland for me if I do! I'm in.
  • Just to add - when I fell, I was obviously trying to do too much too quickly, and I'm fine. I'm going to move back down to a 10 to 12 inch step and light weights. I just still struggle with the movement.
  • I would like to join if space is available!
  • Thank you for the nice response - I started my Rebif last night and your response really made me feel better about everything! Thankfully, no pain, no side effects yet. I really appreciate your support :-)
  • I am 5'9" and my ticker goal is set at 150.
  • Thanks for the feedback. One thing I can say for Rebif's manufacturer (Merck), they are FAST. It took me less than 48 hours to get the meds in the mail - they will be here tomorrow. I think the aspect of the interferons that freaks me out the most is potentially feeling ill. I'm in a "crunch time" at work and in my career,…
  • I do the same, eat some fruit first. I can eat a lot of fruit for the same calorie allotment as is in 1 square of chocolate, and no saturated fat. Normally, I'm craving something sweet and not really the chocolate taste itself. If I'm craving rich and bitter flavors, I go for coffee.
  • I think you probably want to "lean out" more than lose weight at this point, since you are a good weight for your size. Maybe try a more aggressive weight training schedule or plan. There are a lot of great resources on here for weight lifting and balancing diet appropriately. I bet heavy weight training will get you the…
  • Hi MissCarter! I hope that your family doing well. I don't know about a diabetic diet specifically, but I just got put on the Mediterranean diet by my doctor for health concerns as well (I'm overweight and have MS) and think it might be worth looking into for diabetes. It cuts out most processed foods and requires that…
  • I'm not sure what you mean - do you feel like you should have done something differently to prevent MS, or that you feel like you need to be in control/are blamed for anything going wrong? I think both of those things are common to a lot of people, and MS is just a catalyst in this case. I think a lot about how I might…
  • 1. The Fitbit is sort of a fancy pedometer, so it doesn't have any way to measure heart rate. It calculates calories based on your weight and speed when you're walking. So it's just an educated guess on calories I think. 2. I have a Fitbit and a smartphone, but I don't use them together at all. I sync each night with my…
  • A PT found something called a clonus response in one of my feet. Basically, if you hit the bottom of my right foot, it "bounces," goes slightly spastic for a minute. I had a few symptoms before then that I never associated with MS (limped for short periods of time over the years and thought I'd hurt my back, especially…
  • Take care, I'm rooting for you! I just got diagnosed myself in March. It took all of 2 hours to diagnose me - MRI and done. So I don't have any of the prolonged medical experience that you do, but do know that it's tough at first, but it does get better. And there are good medicines out there to treat with. I just hope the…
  • 1. I like/d taking up space. I'm a tall lady, and no one messes with me. I still do get hit on even as a 230ish married lady, though, so I'm not wholly invisible. At 280, that never happened. 2. Cheddar bacon ranch fries at Cheddar's. Can't do those anymore. Maybe on my birthday. 3. T n A. There is/was a lot more to…
  • Prayers. What in G*d's name possessed someone to do this??
  • QFT, not to rip on small farmers, but you can't go to a farmer's market and be sure produce isn't being trucked in from other states or countries. I giggle a bit when ours starts up May 1 and farmers are selling bulk, beautiful tomatoes (with no flavor). They obviously aren't grown locally, but people pay double retail for…
  • I don't have much information to offer myself, but hope that you're feeling better soon :-)
  • Just to update - I had a *great* trip. I ended up walking about twice as much as I planned, miles and miles, and I was ok. I have a lot more confidence now, and am looking forward to my next trip!
