Shake suggestions?
I am trying to overhaul my workday menu and would like to incorporate a breakfast shake. I plan on doing Sunday prep for lunch and dinner for portion control. Being able to just zoom a shake in my Nurtibullet before running out the door seems like the best option for me right now. I have been bad about just grabbing a…

How to forgive yourself?
I have been married for about four years. In those four years, I've tried everything but actual fire to get rid of my wedding pictures! At my wedding, I was 5'8" and in the 270s (lbs). I see myself in that giant white dress and I can't stop crying. I don't even recognize myself. Brides are supposed to be pretty and happy…

Starting again - summertime slim down, looking for friends!
I had a lot of success on MFP last year, but lost focus in the midst of a really tough job search. It's time to get back on track and I would love friends! I will log every day and like to post encouraging comments as well. My diary is open to friends. My stats: SW: 230 pounds GW (for fall): 199 pounds GW (ultimate):…

NROLFW step up question
Hi, for anyone who's done NROLFW, one of the exercises in Stage One is the stepup. It's one of the most challenging exercises for me so far aside from the pushups. I was wondering whether it would be ok to practice stepups daily with no weight to try to improve my form and success with the exercise. Yesterday I tried them…

Insurance is no fun :-(
Granted, I am very very grateful for my insurance, which has covered the lion's share of my MS diagnostic costs over the last six months. I would really be lost without it. But that fact does not make insurance *fun* to deal with. I am trying to start my first DMD, and I looked over the literature provided by my insurance…

Advice on being less critical?
I've always been one of those "your own worst critic" types. A perfectionist, I guess - nothing I do ever seems to be good enough for me. I was raised in a household that very much embraced this type of thinking, but I've really taken it to an extreme. My body isn't good enough, my workouts aren't good enough, etc...I've…

BG-12 approved today!
Is anyone thinking about switching meds? I haven't started my meds yet, but when I talked to my doctor a month ago, he suggested Rebif. I wonder if he'll still opt for Rebif now, since BG-12 is a first-line drug as well with better clinical results and fewer side effects. We'll see! Exciting to see the new drugs getting…

Fastest cure for blisters?
I've got some nasty ones right now...I realize an ounce of prevention/ton of cure, and I'll look into getting new shoes, but right now I just need to get my feet back into shape so I can go to the gym. I tried to tough it out today, walked 1.5 miles and at the end my shoes and socks were soaked with blood, uuuuugh.

MS and travel?
I'm taking my first solo trip since diagnosis this weekend - going to a work conference across the country. I've never been much of a traveler (I'm much more the homebody type), and I get anxious before trips. But post-diagnosis, I'm getting much more anxious than usual. I'm scared I'll have another vertigo attack (I've…

Anyone Tried the Wahl/Paleo diet?
I'm thinking of switching to it after speaking to my neuro this week. Part of me thinks it might be gimicky (after all, I think people like us are trying to make a difference in our health in any way we can, and restriction of foods seems to fit the bill), but I'd also like to be as physically and mentally well as I can be…

Eating out with friends
I'm running into a consistent problem with a few close friends and my spouse since I've started my weight loss journey. I'm open with others about my weight loss goal, and everyone has been generally supportive. That is, until we eat out. Last week, I went out to a bar with friends. All of them ordered very fatty, fried…

NSVs
Hi all, I'd love to hear about some of the NSVs (non-scale victories) that members of this group achieve over the 50 day challenge! Mine for today: I looked in the bathroom mirror at work and realized that the suit jacket I was wearing was entirely too big. I've had this jacket for a few months, and it fit fine when I…

49:33!!!! First 5k NSV
I'm 32, 250 poundsish, and I've never been a runner. But I started C25K this summer and just completed my first 5K! All I wanted was to finish under 50 minutes, and I finished in 49 minutes and 33 seconds. I was so psyched!!! I'm even signing up for another 5K in December and my goal is to finish in under 40 minutes. I'm…

Anyone interested in a weight lifting challenge?
Hi guys, I'm trying to break away from the constant cardio and dedicate some time each week to doing weightlifting at the gym. Anyone interested in creating some sort of challenge with me? I was just thinking of maybe minutes of weightlifting at first, like adding 15 min to the end of workouts 3x per week or something.…

I did a whole 5K today!
It took me 59 min, but I got through it!! I'm run/walking a 5K on Oct 8. I want to try to get down to 48 min or less by then. So excited!! Anyone else a runner (or like me a run/walk/stumble/crawler, haha)?

How to stop "looking forward" to food?
I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem - I have a busy schedule, a job that requires a lot of time and attention, plus home responsibilities. Over the years, I've fallen into the trap of using food as a motivator to get through a rough day, destress, and "reward" myself for my hard work. Of course, making these…

Paleo advice
Hi, I'm seeking advice on how to best sustain my paleo eating habits. I just restarted paleo and, while I'm feeling good, I find myself falling into a habit that sank my paleo goals the last time I started up. I tend to eat less and less per day on paleo, to the point where I simply do not eat enough calories. I know this…

Need to go lower than MFP calorie recommendation?
Hi, I'm pretty new and I'm still getting used to counting calories and balancing my diet, though I've been doing pretty well overall. MFP has told me that for my height and weight I should be eating 1900 cal/day to achieve 1 pound of weight loss per week. In practice, I tend to eat in the 1600 - 1700 cal/day range and try…
