My performance in the gym vastly improved when I started incorporating Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrine intra-workout.

love bagels although I don't eat them often.

Today's meal will consist of: 6 whole eggs cooked in grass fed butter, 10oz grass fed beef, & 2oz cheese. Followed by a bowl of some homemade chocolate keto ice cream topped with peanut butter.

Eggs, butter, beef, bacon, cheese, & peanut butter.

Testing is not the end all be all. I like to test my blood after eating different foods to see how my body reacts to them. The deeper and deeper I get into adaption the more I like to play around with more carbs and/or protein ranges. This is when testing is key. But in all honestly, I only strongly recommend daily testing…

Oh ok, I was just curious. Most of the time people can get back in the zone in a day or two, so I wasn't aware that it can be difficult to some people.
-
wow that is strange. How long has he following keto?
-
I aim for 30g or lower of Net carbs/day, but most days i'm in the low 20s.

all of the above and they are delicious.

I don't care what the magical keto fairy says on their youtube channel. Anyone and everyone who claims calories do NOT matter is full of scheet, especially Dr Fung.

Thats great that you are having success and that it is motivating you. All I am saying is that the purpose of eating a ketogenic diet (besides the amazing taste of fatty foods) is to benefit from the production on ketones, right? I personally love the way I feel when I run on ketone bodies compared to the way I feel on…

I was just asking the question. I honestly did not mean for that comment to come off as rude.

If they are not your driving measurement, why test them at all? let me guess, cause they are 6 cents? Testing is def not a requirement, however if I'm gonna test, I personally don't see the use is measuring ketones my body isn't using. I wouldn't be too "thrilled" about seeing a high level of ketones going into the toilet.

I couldn't disagree more. I HAVE consumed up to 75g carbs of high branched cyclic dextrine (super fast digesting carb) peri-workout and can remain in ketosis (above 0.5 mMol). Having both glucose and ketones for my workouts is amazing. This is the great thing about keto.

Yes blood strips can be expensive, but they are the only true was to measure, well besides measuring acetone via breath meter. You do realize that with urine strips you are measuring ketones that your body is passing. So in your first few weeks of ketogenic dieting when your body isn't set up to use ketones, you will pass…

veg keto sounds horrible imo.

Outright bars are by far the best

Wheat and Sugar seem to cause the most inflammation for me

def not for everyone, but I find that being in a ketogenic state it is really effortless to fast for long periods of time. Now if I was consuming 300-400g of carbs I would want a larger feeding window.
-
Ah I have been fasting for years and it has really allowed me to control my hunger and eating habits. I'm pretty busy throughout the day and never really get hungry. I also find most of the time that I tend to want to eat more at night, so I've played around with longer fasts allowing me more calories at night time and…

Depending on my day i'm either 23:1 and/or 22:2, but neither are etched in stone. I am currently consuming 2,250-2,350 kcals, and weights fluctuates about 1-2lbs depending on the days activities.
-
oh yes, for medical conditions like epileptics or metabolic damage, low protein is necessarily. I was the director of KetoPet Sanctuary and was managing the ketogentic diets for the 25+ dogs we had on site that had cancer. The daily protein consumption was extremely low for most if not all of the dogs as our goal was to…

I'm doing 23:1 right now

You are honestly only "keto" if you are in ketosis, which is a nutritional process characterized by serum concentrations of ketone bodies over 0.5 mol/L.

4am
-
That is not necessarily true. That might be the cause for a select few, but that is not the written rule for all. I can personally consume a 1g protein per pound of body weight as well as 50-75g fast digesting carbs peri-workout and still stay in ketosis. But I will say that I do train very hard and have more muscle mass…

BCAAs are pointless. You're better with a complete protein source like a whey isolate powder.

It is turning into a cult, which I can't stand. Anytime its in the media and every supplement company start try to make money off of it, it heads down the "cult" road. However i'm willing to bet that 90-95% of the people on here claiming "I'm keto" are truly not in ketosis. They maybe think they are keto, but they are…
