Swim twice a week in the water. Enter slowly. Breathe out when you submerge . Get out if your fingers start to ply open and you have no control. Swam in 10C(50F) for 2km. Freezing. Did 8 hours in 14C (57F) and that was great. Look up the Lone Swimmers website he reckons that anything 8C and above is fine. Crazy, impressive…

This works 100% A few drops of baby shampoo in the goggle. With finger wipe thoroughly around the lens. Rinse out well. No fog for your session. Doesn't hurt the eyes

I hate it when you swim laps and there’s an empty lane next to you but a swimmer decides to join in your lane. I hate it when a slow swimmer gets in the medium lane or worse still the fast lane ! I hate it when a swimmer swims on the wrong side of the lane. I hate it when a swimmer swims down the centre of the lane. I hate…

I started to swim at 39 as part of my mid life crisis. I wanted to swim Rottnest a 20km ocean swim. I succeeded. I then swum casually for a few years. I then decided at 47, I wanted to swim the English Channel. I trained so so hard. For so long. I succeeded. A year later, I struggle to get to a pool or ocean. I struggle to…

Budgy Smugglers are Mens speedos. Its an Aussie Term. If you "glance" at them it looks like a bloke is trying to smuggle a budgy.
-

I'm taking this time. It was a 10km race. (4 x 2.5km laps). It was rough wild and wooley. Lifesavers said that the course needed to be changed to 8 x 1.25km laps so we could have adequate water cover. It was a real hard slop and I came in 2hrs 2mins. Considering my previous best was 2hrs 49mins a month ago. One might…

There are a lot of good Masters swim clubs that you could go to once you feel comfortable. There is a group that swims at North Adelaide Aquatic during the day that would probably suit. If you are interested, let us know which direction you live and I could suggest who you could see. If not, enjoy your swimming. We all…

Just to brag a smidgen. I'm from down under and I swam right through winter. Got down to 12C (53F) which was nasty. Love the ocean. See the forum subject Open Water Swimmers versus Soft Poolies for a laugh
-
I've been to a thousand pools and never even heard of a suit mate. Until Elbence mentioned it ! I looked it up on goggle. I want a suit mate. The Aussie equivalent to suit mate is wringing the budgy smugglers (speedos) out.

BTW, many newer pool are 25km lap lap length. My you guys do things big in the USA ! I couldnt do a lap ! :):noway:

Swim in the ocean and avoid Chlorine

August 2nd-8th 2014.

Ten minutes is HUGE !! Thats an 18% improvement. Most people would be estatic for a thirty second or less improvement. Keep going
-
You did it easily. You still had a good 13 one hundreds of a second to cruise.
-
I hear you. And its caused a smile. I have at times resembled a seal trying to climb out the pool. If you ever get to the foot that the young guns do, I'll be so jealous. Congrats
-
The world is far too serious. This was a light hearted laugh. Harmless. I know I should know better. I got a similar response with Open water swimmers vs soft poolies. I loves you all

I hate triathletes. Harsh I know. But let me vent. I hate when triathletes join a swimming squad. They immediately assess themselves so much better than they are and put themselves in the wrong lane (I hate that). They then dont touch the wall and pull up under the flags during sets (I hate that). And they dont let others…

My mistake. I thought you being Scottish would be crazy enough to do it without a wetsuit. So you're not completely crazy. What temperture does the suit come off ? Still a good effort !! I'm currently swimming in 18C and its pretty damn cold.
