I like the idea of IIFYM b/c it isn't telling me which specific foods I should eat - just what the components should be. Perfect for someone like me who doesn't like traditional diet food (yogurt, cottage cheese, celery, etc...)

It's just so darn DEPRESSING when you're all proud of a weight loss, then it comes back!!!

Thank you both for your advice! I don't know enough yet to tweak anything on my own, so I appreciate the suggestions.

Great tips! I think I'll do some research too. Thanks.

Don't know if you're still around, but I wanted to say that Yoga has been my lifesaver when it comes to misc. "old lady" pains (I'm 47 so I can call them that  ). Resolved the hip issue, pinched nerve in neck, back pains, etc.. Good luck to you.

Yes, my thyroid has been checked. I'm starting to think the proper diagnosis would be 'denial'

Thanks. That's the issue. Even when I log and monitor religiously (I try to use the Weight Watchers addage of "bite it, write it") and I know without a doubt that I am in a deficit, I may lose that week....and I may not. It might also have to do with TYPES of food - I notice that I absolutely now must stay away from high…

Thanks for the encouraging words. I DO feel like I have had an appetite increase, but Doc says I should be starting to lose weight by now. I'm making a point to recognize when I'm feeling hungry at inappropriate times and eating a low calorie snack. After two weeks completely Effexor free, I'm still having tummy issues…

If you're having pain that you characterize as "severe" its time to go to the doctor, regardless of what's causing it. It's hopefully something minor, but you need to be sure.

Also, I'm unfortunately one of these ladies who sweats if I'm just standing in 80 degrees, so it never even occurred to me that the amount of sweat would be related to calorie burn. That would be different for everyone.

What I've noticed more about yoga than any other type of exercise I've done is that it makes more of a difference in the way you FEEL. It doesn't burn alot of calories, but it is still intense. At my age (45) I tend to get misc. aches and pains all over the place. In about 2 months of yoga, I've had knee, shoulder and back…

These forums move FAST, so what was discussed yesterday and this morning has already bumped several pages over. I look at these forums all the time and didn't see any other conversations about this.

I don't get one bit where all of the haters are coming from. She's had three children (almost in succession!) and looks GREAT! No, most women aren't going to immediately get the results that she did, but she's certainly a role model for health. She's going to be around for those kids for a long time. She seems willing to…

I have been doing a little hot yoga too, but only a few times over the past week or so and I am/was SORE. I was told that the way to get rid of the soreness is a another hot yoga session, but I don't know if this applies when its done daily like you have been doing it. The hot yoga instructors are really good - I would ask…
