  • I think 2 lbs a week is doable for most people (unless they are underweight of course). I participated in a weight loss challenge earlier this year with my women's fitness group to lose 10 lbs in 5 weeks. I only had around 10 lbs to lose (from 135 to 125), but I did it. I entered my food into MFP and exercised several days…
  • We all need a swift kick sometimes! Here's some advice that I used to ignore (being an introvert), but try to find a group or another person to exercise with. Maybe join a Meetup walking group in your area. I found it easy to skip exercise when nobody was holding me accountable. Then I joined a women's fit camp group at my…
  • Hell, I only have ONE kid and our weeknights are usually crazy. I walk in the door after work and then rush her over to taekwondo several nights a week. Good to know there are decent options for the nights that we grab 'n go.
  • I don't drink coffee, so I use Arbonne energy fizz sticks when I need an energy boost. You just empty the packet into a bottle of water. They aren't cheap but they work. I love Red Bull but the energy fizz is much healthier.
  • I just started using Arbonne protein powder in my shakes (I stopped using whey protein because of lactose intolerance). It's vegan and the protein source comes from pea, cranberry and rice. They have vanilla and chocolate, and so far I like them.
  • I used to get headaches when I used Splenda in my tea every day. I switched to truvia & haven't had any problems with it. I will still use Splenda occasionally, and it doesn't bother me if it's just every once in awhile. I know now not to O.D. on it. I'm glad to see this actual scientific information regarding aspartame…

  • Was just looking back at the early seasons of The Biggest Loser. The guy who won the 1st season lost 37% of his body weight. He was also the only person to lose over 100 lbs. that season. Now it seems like that's the expected norm, regardless of your starting weight. Rachel Frederickson lost nearly 60%. Seems to me like…
  • "Showboating is not recommended" Thanks, this is the funniest thing I've read in a long time!!!
  • Another card-carrying member of the IBTC here. No way could I carry a cell phone in my bra. My phone is longer than my cup size! I know several women who always carry theirs in their bra. My neighbor's mother-in-law, who is about 65, does this. Cracks me up every time she whips it out in front of everybody (the phone, not…
  • I was a "late bloomer". My husband and I were 35 when we got married, and 39 when our daughter was born (surprise!). I had a normal pregnancy and a healthy baby. I sort of regret waiting so long, because after I had her, I hit menopause and couldn't have any more. I was so lucky to have her! I think it's great to be a…
  • Thanks all, that's pretty much what I figured. I'll keep doing what I'm doing.
  • I don't think there's anything wrong with giving up certain types of food to see if you feel better. I have been off dairy for the past few weeks (as recommended by a nutritionist) to see if that is what is causing the excess mucus I always seem to have. If that isn't it, I'll try cutting out something else. Most…
  • Definitely not the fault of the Coca-Cola company. The article also said she was a heavy smoker, had a poor diet, and had to have her teeth removed due to decay. This woman obviously led a very unhealthy lifestyle. How sad to set such a poor example for your kids. As for me, I stopped drinking soda back in 1992 because I…
  • I wouldn't either. I know people who have their kids' names tattooed on them, and their teenaged kids are now mortified. I would consider getting a tattoo that represented my daughter in some way, but not her name.
  • I have a friend who got her husband's name tattooed on her ring finger when they got married. After they divorced, when she was looking to have it removed/lasered, they told her the ink would probably spread and leave an even larger blotch of ink. So she opted to have it surgically cut out. Now it's just a scar, which is…
  • Just started "Jillian Michaels' Ripped in 30" workout this morning. I've done her 30-Day Shred and 6-Week Six-Pack in the past. Have any of you cool kids tried this one? They make it sound like level 1 is going to be a cake walk, but I'm going to be sorry I was ever born once I hit the higher levels, LOL.
  • I don't like spending money on a gym membership either. I do home workouts. Jillian Michaels' DVDs are cheap; I just bought Ripped in 30 on Walmart.com for $8.00. I also have 30 Day Shred and 6 Week Six-Pack, which were all under $10 each. All you need are small dumbells (3 or 5 lb.).
  • Hirgy03 for the win!! Best NSV ever.
  • Yep, that's me too. I'm 5'4" and banana-shaped (no curves to speak of). But my stomach has always been my problem area, esp. after having a child. Jillian Michaels' 6 Week Six-Pack workout definitely helped tone that area, but I have no idea how I would achieve an actual 6-pack (aside from buying one in the cold beer…
  • I had my daughter at age 39, and at age 40-41, I found out I was peri-menopausal. I was trying to have another baby and the ovulation predictor tests were not giving me a positive. After a visit to a fertility doctor, I discovered I was out of eggs! So, I was done and menopause was here. I was getting occasional hot…
  • Howdy neighbor! I wish it would warm up, I haven't done a lap around Capitol Park since probably October. I'm done with winter. Blah!
  • Video games! My 3-year-old downloaded 2 apps (without my knowledge) onto my Nook, and bless her, I'm now hopelessly addicted to them! If you don't have a device to download apps, you can play them online. They are a great stress-buster, and they take up enough time that you forget everything else for a while. It definitely…
  • Hi, thanks for the invite! I'm Traci and I'm from Sacramento, CA. I'm 42 years old, married and have a 3-year-old daughter. Yes, I was a "late in life" mom who had her first (and only) child at age 39. Then I hit menopause at 41 and wasn't able to have any more children. So I'm very lucky to have my little blessing! When…
  • Holy smokes!! That is an AWESOME transformation. Love the progression pics, what a difference!
  • Oops...the mud run is this Sunday, and I haven't actually run in a few weeks. :embarassed: Yipe! At least I've been doing home workouts, so I'll be able to do the obstacles. The run is the easy part!
  • Favorite: Mounds and Almond Joy (I know, I was the weird kid) Least favorite: Good & Plenty I actually like those toffees in the black & orange wrappers. Like I said, I'm weird!
  • Give yourself a break. Not sure if this is your first child, but it does take some time to get back to pre-pregnancy weight. My stomach stayed puffy for a while. I didn't start actively trying to lose the weight until my daughter was almost 2. Then it came off pretty quickly. I still have a little "baby blub" (stomach)…
  • Hi cool kids, I've been MIA for a while. My daughter and I got sick with a terrible stomach flu on Labor Day weekend, so I didn't exercise that whole week. Then, that following Saturday, my mom passed away. So I had absolutely no energy to exercise after that, plus being so busy making arrangements. When I finally got…
