Keep in mind that BMR and TDEE are just estimates. You'll have to experiment to figure out what works for your body. Suggestions above are good. If it were me, I'd raise my calories back up to TDEE and focus on increasing intensity and frequency of exercise to see what happens. Do that for a month and see what happens and…

Check out the 3-part series on youtube by California Strength. They break down the Squat Snatch very well in my opinion. I'm currently working a lot on both the Clean & Jerk and the Squat Snatch. I recently dedicated 2 days per week to just working on C&J or Snatch form with pretty light weigths initially working up to…

We don't bring our kids to the box on a regular basis. It can get pretty crazy so working out at the same time with the kids there is not an option.

Honestly, I've probably done this and never thought of it potentially being construed as rude. Thanks for pointing it out. I'll be conscious of this going forward.

My wife and I both do Crossfit and eat Paleo. This totally gave me an idea for what to do Saturday evening. Thanks!

This tends to happen to most married folks. Blame the wedding cake.

I had it really bad in both elbows. From beginning of symptoms until now where I'd say I'm virtually symptom free outside of intense pull-up or rope climb WODs, it has been 2+ years. I did a ton of research on the net and I found that not just one approach fixes everything. I did the following at the peak of my symptoms…

After doing Zumba I tend to feel randy so I drink some wine and chase my wife around the house. Maybe it is from the wine? In all seriousness, could you possibly already have dry eyes and maybe the sweat irritated them a bit? If you sit in front of a computer screen all day it is quite probable that your eyes are already…

I technique I was taught that seems to work is when you get a side stitch, start breathing out of your mouth forcibly as your foot hits the ground on that side. I get into a rhythm where I'm breathing in through my mouth and then breathing out quickly every other time my foot on that side hits the ground. I basically get…

Our July 4th WOD was: 400m run 7 rope climbs 400m run 17 HSPU 400m run 76 kettle bell swings (53/35) 400m run 237 burpees The burpees were awful. Toward the end I'm not even sure mine looked like burpees but rather a controlled collapse to the floor followed by a struggle to stand and jump 1/2 inch off the floor.

My understanding is that "squat snatch" is not redundant. The only requirement of the snatch is to get it over your head in one motion. You can power snatch and still get credit for the lift, however one can typically do more weight in a squat snatch than a power snatch. If the WOD says "squat snatch" then you are required…

Let me get this straight. You "haven't tried it" yet you seem to have a pretty strong opintion about it being "dangerous" and having an "elitist attitude". Your opinion on this topic is garbage.

21 rounds of Cindy. Boom.

Perfectly said.

One thing to keep in mind once you start to get to know people there. Ask about their healthy journey. I realized the other day that several of the "super fit" people at my box were all actually really out of shape when the start. Like 200lb+ down to 135lb women and men going for 40in+ waists to a six pack. The journey…

This brings to mind one of my favorite inspirational quotes: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you…

I did Marine Corps boot camp but I'd assume the other services would be similar, just easier ;-) . My suggestion is lots of running (get up to 3-4 miles or so) plus lots of body weight calisthenics - push-ups, running in place, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, burpess -- as fast sa you can for as long as you can. In the…

I am a guy and I find that creepy and would have probably reported him to HR. With that said, I think casually checking out someone's boobs is a bit different, no? I think we're talking about staring a bit too long without realizing it as opposed to staring with an open mouth and putting my hand down my pants. Clearly…
-
Two thoughts: 1. I would suspect that the level of "creepiness" of someone checking out your breasts is inversely related to how good-looking you think the person is that is checking you out. I find it hard to believe that most women would be offended if they were having a conversation with a really hot guy and they caught…

That doesn't fit in with the OP narrative of venting so please try to refrain from using logic. Thanks. OP - you were saying? Oh, yes, blah, blah, I want bread, blah, blah, I couldn't help myself, blah, blah, outside influuences are the problem. Is that about it? If you are only a few pounds away from your goal, you know…

What if I told you in a year you'd be a size 6 but the "number" on the scale won't change at all. Would you take it? Why so hung up on a number that nobody else sees? You are getting leaner/smaller, isn't that the real point? The scale is just one data point and nowhere near the most important one unless you are a…

This. Also don't sweat anything from week to week as others have said water retention can cause some serious swings. Commit to your program for at least a month before comparing back to you starting numbers.
-
BTW, congrats on losing 12 in two weeks. That is really awesome! Just make sure you realize that a sustainable rate is more like 1-2 lbs per week. That 12 lbs is likely a lot of water weight in week one which happens.
-
Do you weight yourself every hour and worry about the fluctuations throughout the day? That would be ridiculous, right? Worrying that much about your weight from week to week is almost as ridiculous. I weigh in each week but just to see the long-term trend over the course of months. I'd suggest you start looking at this in…

8 lbs in eight weeks? 1lb per week is right about where you want to be. Any faster than 1-2 lbs per week and you are likely losing more muscle than fat. I wouldn't over think it at this point but if you start to stall you might think about bumping your calories up a bit. Just my two cents. I think "starvation mode" is…

My suggestion - ignore feedback from people who "have friends that did Crossfit" or "heard of a guy once that did Crossfit" or "wanted to try it but didn't because..." Is it hard? Yes. Is it too hard for some people? I think so if you are badly out of shape. Are there inexperienced and bad coaches? No more than bad…

Be really careful. If you lift heavy stuff you might end up looking like this. We can't have that.... If you lift heavy for years AND do large amounts of anabolic steroids AND have very specific genetics, you look more like this (what some might call "bulky"): Edited for photo size and typos...

I do think there is a bit of frustration for those that have been around awhile. I also think each person has their own hot button that just sets them off. I don't have problems with people asking questions regardless of how simple they may be but some users can't handle those questions over and over. I do have a problem…
