  • For me this whole thing is not just about loosing weight, but about changing my life and my eating habits. As it's more of a lifestyle change, I allow myself to eat what I want once a week. Usually this is Saturdays, as that is the day we usually have family dinners and/or girls nights etc. I don't log anything on these…
  • If you like dancing it's a great little added workout. I used to do the 20 minute express after my 30DS, which was a fun way to burn a little more. I could go all out for 30DS, and then dance a little at the end to keep my HR up a bit longer and burn extra. If you do the longer workouts, it should also be good on it's own…
  • As for a HRM, I have the Polar FT40, which I highly recommend. I also know the FT60 is pretty awesome. On here people talk alot about the FT4 for a bit of a cheaper option. Either way, get it online if you can as that seems to be cheaper (at least for me the online prices are more than 50% off the retail price, but then…
  • If you were using it at the same time, the treadmill probably picked up on your HR sensor and gave you the same readings as your HRM had. The elliptical at my gym picks up my HR from my chest strap, so I can stay focused while not having to keep checking my watch (I also have the watch set at percentages sop it's nice to…
  • I am guessing what she means is you need to take the sensor off the strap, then rinse and let it dry. And only have the sensor on when you train. The batteries can stay right where they are until you need to change them.
  • Polar FT4 and FT7 are mentioned here a lot, and seem to go for about 60-90USD. From what people say these work fine, and have the chest strap. I personally have the FT40, and while I recommend spending the little extra to get that or the FT60, I can understand that not everyone has the money for it. 60-70USD most people…
  • For weight, I would think that the wrist weights will be somewhat ok, but you can always just try using two filled water bottles until you can get some 2-4lbs. From my experience, it doesn't matter too much when I do it, but I have found that around midday-early afternoon is when I am most motivated. Of course, since I am…
  • Yes I do. Have had one for over two years (Polar FT40) and I can't imagine working out without it. The only time it ever gave me problems was when the battery was dying, so I just switched it myself (which was easy on this model) and now it's working perfectly again. You want to get one with a chest strap, and you want to…
  • Anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours, depending on what kind of workout I am doing.
  • I do 30DS three times a week (mixing it with other things for a total of six workout days a week and one rest day), and last week with only four days of exercise behind me for the week I lost about 1.5lbs! I mix the shred as I also go to the gym and do other things at home (made my own little hybrid sort of), so I do it…

  • We have quite a few different classes at my gym. I prefer the interval class. You do a 2-3 song warmup, then do 4-6 four minute songs where you give all that you can, and then two minutes in between to relax. It's awesome, and you burn and sweat like there is no tomorrow. Perfect and usually about 45-55 minutes long.
  • Too many to list them all, but since I recently watched an interview where he talked about his kids and was all adorable and stuff, Colin Farrell currently tops my list!
  • I agree with this. It's a good place to start, just modify the exercises if you have to, and take extra breaks if you need to. It will be hard the first few times, but you'll be surprised how fast you get used to it and can push harder instead of taking breaks! And I weight about 212 and I can do most of it without…
  • You can find all of Ripped on 30 on youtube if you want to see what it's all about. It's four different programs, one for each week of a month. So week one you do on thing, week two she changes it up etc. I've only done the 30 Day Shred myself, which is a 3-2-1 system (3 minutes strength, 2 minutes cardio and 1 minute…
  • From what you describe, perhaps you mean Jillian Michaels workouts, such as her 30 Day Shred, as she really uses the 3-2-1 system (from what I've seen it's sort of 'her' system). Does the workout have a different name than 3-2-1?
  • When my scale gave me triple digits (in kilograms). I hit 100 kg, and knew it was about time I did something. I also realized I didn't want to be this fat when I turn 30, which is in June of next year. So, less than two months ago, I got my act together, joined here, and the rest is history.
  • I usually ate fairly healthy during the day. I had a few things, like garlic bread, that I would have in the evenings after a late shift. And then there was the candy. I used to eat candy every single day. So even when I worked out several times a week, and ate a diet which alone was probably less than 1000 calories, I…
  • My hairdresser is a middle-aged man who has pretty normal hair really. But as he is a multiple national and international champion I don't really care ;)
  • Not going to go into the whole overweight instructor thing (mainly cause I disagree, a lot). It seems to me that the only reason your are not switching for the other gym is because it's 15 minutes away by car. Even if it is more than half as cheap? And if you really dislike and have so many issues with the classes and such…
  • Using BC to skip a period can be done, but should not be done continuously. I've skipped a period more than once, usually because it was not convenient (vacations etc) but never more than once in a row. I had the heavy flows and the pain, but as long as I am on the BC my flow is not heavy anymore (usually barely two-three…
  • I'm about 215-210ish right now, and usually burn between 270-300. Haven't gone over 300 in a while. I use a HRM to monitor my calories as well, so I know it's not over 300 most of the time.
  • I started this once before, but didn't completely finish as I went off on vacation before I had my last five days of L3. Started it again this week, but as I am mixing it in with other types of workouts I'll be doing it over six week, three times a week (so six days per level). I still work out six times a week, but this…

  • Try amazon.co.uk or play.com, as both have it and will ship in Europe. Play even ships for free (or at least it does to Norway). Prizes are low too, and you can get the Shred in a box set along with three of her other workouts for like 20 pounds.

  • I do bust (across the breasts), waist (at its thinnest), tummy (at its fattest..) and hips. Plus neck, upper arm, thighs, and calves. I do measurements where I want to. There are no set rules, but you can always google to see where it's usually done. But really, just be consistent with where you take them, and take them…
  • Today was 30DE Level 1, Pusups/Situps/Squats (W1D3) and then finished with Leslie Sansone's 2 Mile Superwalk.
  • I think rest days are up to you. I think 5-6 times a week will be enough though. One rest day might do you good, but again, up to you.
  • You have a nice low HR, so the burn looks about right. If you want to burn more, you have to push the HR up. Add something else before the Zumba. I would trust the HRM over what the game gave you any day. It may be lower than you thought, but it's better to know for sure. You'll notice as you get more fit, you burn less…
  • I cannot say that I have, but I have mixed it up with 60+ minutes at the gym (crosstrainer/elliptical + strength). You can do it twice if you want, but I would look into perhaps adding something else after it instead? Maybe running, walking, Zumba or even more strength it you prefer.
  • Just started fresh on L1 today! Will only be doing it three times a week as I am mixing it up with other types of workouts so I won't get bored. And also to see how that works for me. Other workouts will be everything from Turbo Fire to Walk at Home (doing those on 30DS days), as well as going to the gym.
