I also purchased tofu this week and look forward to trying new recipes. Here are a few websites I bookmarked with tofu and other plant based recipes. http://healthygirlskitchen.blogspot.com/p/healthy-recipes.html Hungryhungryhippie.com (she has a tofu crockpot recipe I want to try) http://www.vegkitchen.com (tofu veggie…

Bump....love trying new lentil recipes. Thanks for sharing!

It does take time to make your own meals/recipes, but it's work the extra effort. I try and use the weekend, Sunday in particular, to make a few recipes for the week. I use the recipe builder to figure out the calories and nutrients per serving. Also, invest in freeze containers or ziplocks to freeze individual servings.…

MFP is an amazing tool AND an amazing community. You deserve a lot of credit too! Congratulations on your outstanding weight loss. You look amazing!

 Feel free to add me. I log in daily. Age: 50 Height: 5'4" SW: 154 (Sept. 2012) CW: 128 GW: 120-122 I try and maintain a clean diet and to exercise daily. Goal is to drop the last 6-8lbs by summer.

It does take extra effort to work out the calories per serving. I bought a box of single serving containers that I use for soups/stews. I fill as many containers as I can and divide the total calories by the number of containers I choose. Easy to store in the refrigerator or freezer. Allows me to control my calories and…

I started to feel better within a week of going gluten-free (although I do still enjoy some Ezekiel bread products in moderation). Another source of your tummy issues may be dairy products. I switched from dairy to almond milk, coconut milk, coconut creamer, and coconut yogurt. You may want to Google "JJ Virgin" for more…

So Delicious Coconut French Vanilla is my favorite too. I tried plain and the hazelnut, but prefer the French Vanilla in my coffee. Recently I added it to my Chia Tea and loved the combo.

My 'go to' snack in the afternoon are nut packets from Trader Joes. My favorite is a combo of almonds, cashews and cranberries (210 calories a packet). Satisfies my sweet tooth and the healthy fats from the nuts keeps me feeling full. I also like the almond packets.

Great topic posting. I switched to coconut milk creamer and the occasional coconut milk ice cream treat (So Delicious brand), but haven't experimented with coconut oil in cooking yet. I'll pick up a jar and give it a try!

I'm a little shorter (5'4") but getting closer to my goal weight. I hope to reach it in the next couple of months and then work on maintenance and toning/strenght training. SW: 154 (August 2012) CW: 129 GW: 122

If you make a conscious effort to eat clean (lots of veggies, protein, good carbs/beans/sprouted whea) and minimize the processed foods, fast food, etc. I think you'll feel better and have an easier time meeting your weight loss goals. I follow the 90/10 rule and enjoy the occassional non-clean treats. My diary is open to…

I stared by weight loss journey last summer, but wasn't seeing great results despite my attempts at eating clean. After watching a nutritionist (JJ Virgin.com) on my local PBS station in September, I decided to give "gluten-free" a try, I was amazed at how much better I felt in just a few days. My weight started to drop…

I'm 5'4" and my starting weight was 154lbs. As of this morning's weigh-in, I'm at 130 lbs. with 5 more to go to hit goal weight. Once I reach my goal weight of 125, I plan to re-evaluate. I think 120-122 may be realistic, but I'm more concerned with toning and adding more muscle.

How about protein powder/shakes. I added Garden of Life brown rice protein shakes to my diet to help up my protein (I'm not a vegetarian, but was looking for alternatives to soy and whey). It's a great source of vegan friendly protein. A friend recommended pea protein powder which I haven't tried yet.

Try to choose fruits that are low on the glycemic index and also high in fiber--strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, apples, pears. The anjou pears are amazing this time of year! I love mangos, bananas and pinapple, but I would suggest eating these in moderation as they are higher on the glycemic index and can spike…

I find that eating well, balanced meals with protein, good fats, and good carbs reduces the cravings for sugar. I'm also a fan of the Trader Joes nut/dried fruit packets, especially in the afternoon. Again, it satisfies my afternoon craving and it's healthy. I would also recommend herbal or green tea. Sipping a large mug…

OUTSTANDING! You look so happy and healthy! Thanks for being an inspiration to all of us!

I would suggest resetting your macros to 30% fat/40% carbs/40% protein. Your body needs the good fats (nuts, EVOO, avacados, etc)! Adding healthy fats into your diet will curb your appetite too! If you need ideas, my diary is open. I'm eating 1,200-1,300 daily.

Thanks for sharing your success! Your smile in the after pics says it all....!!!

I love wine too, but I would limit consumption (1-2 small glasses a week at most) if you want to see consistent weight loss on the scale. I treat it as I would any sweet--moderation! Once you're close to goal weight, you can add more back into your daily plan and see how your body/the scale responds.

I couldn't agree more! Everyone and every body is different. What's working for me, may not work for someone else. I'm eating 1,200-1,300 calories a day, exercising daily, losing about 1-1.5 lbs a week, AND gaining muscle. I'm feeling 100% better since I minimzed the processed foods in my diet.

Protein shakes are a great, easy source of protein. I usually have one in the morning and sometimes add one later in the day if I need to up my protein. And it curbs your hunger! I recently switched to Garden of Life's Raw Protein (you can find it Whole Foods, The Vitamin Shoppe or any health food store). It's a great…

I have a couple suggestions: Saute a lb. of 99% lean ground turkey, with chopped onions and add mexican/taco spices (cumin, garlic power, paprika, chili powder, etc). Store in the refrigerator. Add 4 ounces to prechopped romaine lettuce. Top with 2 Tbl. guacamole or avacado, reduced fat cheese blend, light sour cream,…

While it might be tempting to try a restricted program like Medifast for fast results, my guess is your friend won't be able to maintain the weight loss and will be wishing she held on to her clothes! Sorry to be such a cynic, but I tried a very low cal weight loss program a couple years ago and regained EVERY pound within…

Congratulations! You look fantastic! I love seeing before/after pics on MFP--yours and so many others are an inspritation! Also, the twins are adorable! Thank you for taking the time to post.

I agree. Adding protein will curb the hunger AND you still get the benefits of eating more veggies. I recently discovered Spinach and Kale Greek Yogurt Dip at Trader Joes. 2T is only 30 calories. I'm also a fan of almond butter and hard boiled eggs.
