I would prefer something that mounts on the bike vs a pack that you wear. Well, I think so, as I have never tried either.

I started round 2 over the weekend.

I keep a bag of salad, something with spinach in it. I add to this either tuna salad or soup.

I can't get my bike out until April 16th. I am a weekend rider with a short ride or 2 during the week. I like to sign up for organized rides. I feel safer with a large group. My goal is to beat last summers 1,300 miles. Signing up for a number of centuries this time.

I go to bed earlier and get up earlier to allow time before work to exercise. I'm not sure if that constitutes "giving up something". Maybe just a little free time.

I was sidetracked by an injury that prevented me from working out for 3 months. It was absolutely astounding to see how out of shape I could get and how much weight I could gain in such a short period of time. I have always been committed to this but now I can do something about it.

No. Never plan to. Not gonna happen.

Airzound is a very loud bike horn. I have read that a loud noise or yelling "No!" will deter most dogs. This article may help. http://bicycling.com/blogs/ramblingman/tag/dogs/

I am a slow poke as well. My problem is that I don't try to ride everyday, twice a week is about average. I have been told that riding with someone who is better than I am would help but I don't want to be the guy who slows everyone down.

I prefer the bike because it's me making the machine move where as the treadmill is the machine making me move. The elliptical and the stair climber are also me moving the machine. The treadmill is always my last choice.

I started round 2 of P90X at the end of April. I followed the nutrition plan the first time but am not this time. Finding time is hard so I just get up at 5 AM to do it. It's tough but I like getting it done first thing.

I try not to think about anything important. The ride is a bit of an escape. Since I live where I grew up, I know a number of people who live where I normally ride. I like to check out their places and see what's new. It's nice to see some wildlife on the way. A perfect ride is zen like.

I bought a hybrid in May 2012 with the goal of getting into shape. Started with short rides (15 to 20 miles) and slowly increased distance over the summer. By the end of the year I was routinely riding 40 to 60 miles twice a week. I also lost 30 pounds. I found two things helpful: 1) Doing organized rides. Saw a lot of…

This is a long journey and there will be bumps in the road. But don't let the bumps knock you off track. The journey goes on no matter what. Don't focus on the scale either. Just focus on eating better and being more active. The results will come.

I still enjoy fast food in moderation. The egg mcmuffin is high on my list of things that are ok to eat at McDonalds.
-
I picked up the joeblow sport II. It's great!
-
Nice. I hadn't seen that one. I think that I will do the same.
-
Thanks for the advice. It'll be nice to finally have a good pump.

I feel and look much better and am never going back to the old way. I have come too far.

Non food rewards are the best. Also, anything in moderation. I eat things that I shouldn't but only occasionally and in small portions. This is a long journey but you have the right attitude and will do great things.

This.

I do an hour a day for 6 to 7 days every week. When you are my age (50ish) it becomes very important.

Dumbbells 3 to 20 pounds. Push up handles. Pull up bar. Exercise mat. Heart rate monitor.

My wife is trying to lose 50 lbs this year. I ask her often how it's going with intake and exercise. I send her encouraging texts on days with her trainer. She says I'm bugging her too much. Then I read this. There must be a happy medium somewhere.

This is a fantastic thread. You are an amazing motivation for all of us doing P90X. Congratulations on your success so far. I was in pretty good shape when I started it and it still kicked my but. On day 18 now.

I started cycling for the first time in May. It was a great summer logging 1,100 miles. Can't wait for spring to get back out there.

This. But I like to change the workout everyday. Do the treadmill one day, next day elliptical, next bike, next stair climber and repeat. Helps to keep you from hitting a plateau.
-
Your body is primed to receive energy and nutrients right after a workout. I look for something with a lot of protein and eat it as soon as possible.
-
Change up your workouts, if you are doing the same thing every time. I like to do something completely different every time I go to the gym. Some people will try fluctuating their calories. Go low one day and high the next.

I am down 30 pounds in 2012 and bicycling played a large part in that. I encourage people to give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
