  • Hi Dorene68, Welcome to the group. Sounds like you are doing really well. Congratulations on the 10 lb loss. I think that your advice about getting back on the plan if you've fallen off for awhile is great. When I do this and gain weight, I now know what I can do to lose that weight again. And I don't have to starve myself…
  • Hi cleller2, I know one of our members added some of her own Plan-friendly recipes, but I haven't seen any of the basic recipes added.
  • Hi Ginger, Sounds like you are doing really well! Much better than I did on the cleanse. Congratulations on the weight loss and the good sleep. I can appreciate how hard it is to get a really restful night's sleep with little ones around. Many people find that they sleep better on The Plan. I think you will like the cream…
  • Hi Ginger, Welcome to the group! I certainly craved bread, coffee and salt during those early days of The Plan, too. I also dislike the flax granola with coconut milk, which I have grown to enjoy now. I think the caffeine withdrawl I experienced caused a lot of stomach issues for me so almost everything I ate disagreed…
  • Hi Renny, Welcome to the group! I agree that the book can be confusing and difficult to follow, but I find it to be a really different approach that seems to work well if you can stick to it. I think that the benefits of perhaps identifying foods that are creating health issues is a great use of The Plan. While it sounds…
  • Hi cleller2, Thanks for introducing yourself and welcome to the group. I think that for some of us, being on The Plan makes us more aware of our bodies' response to foods. While it can be disappointing to find out you're having a reaction to a food you love, it still is good to have that piece of information. I haven't…
  • Hi slkilby, I don't recall anyone else with that reaction, but I would suspect the chickpeas. Maybe you can find someone to donate the soup to. I'd suggest you try making it without the chickpeas, or substitute the broccoli soup that's in the cookbook.
  • Hi Jessica, Welcome to the group and thanks for introducing yourself. If you already are noticing sensitivities to certain foods, I think you will get a lot out of the plan. Like you, I have problems with pizza. For me, I think it is tomatoes as every time I test them by themselves, I get a reaction. You're right that the…
  • You're most welcome. Your plan sounds like a wise one! A rule of thumb I try to follow is to give it two days if there's been a significant gain (e.g. half a pound or more) and one day if it was either stable or a small gain. Slows progress a bit, but then I feel more confident of the results when I do test. Once you're…
  • Hi tummytonya, Sorry to hear you are struggling. It really can be hard to know exactly what is causing a reaction. I think that if "The Plan" authors would tell you that it probably was the bread in the wine/bread/chocolate day, based on what I've read. There is a Facebook page where they answer many people's specific…
  • Hi myrtgeo, Welcome to the group! I'm glad you found us, too. Are you trying to lose weight? Or are there other reasons you're trying The Plan? I had such a hard time with the first two days as well. Started out really enthusiastic, struggled with the disparities between the book and the online resources you described. Got…
  • Hi tummytonya, Yes, a journey is a good way to describe it. Not really what one necessarily expects when picking up the book. Speaking for myself, I think I believed I'd get through 20 days and be done. I also have had up and downs. Last week I went shopping and was able to fit into some pants that were 2 sizes smaller…
  • Hi tummytonya, Welcome to the group! Please let us know a bit about you and your experience with The Plan!
  • Hi Sandy, Welcome to the group! So glad you joined and have had such good results. I also was ill during the cleanse, especially day 1, but continued through days 2 and 3. Like you, I chose to stick it out, probably because of the weight loss. Glad your testing has gone well. At some point you may discover foods that do…
  • Hi LovelyNFit, Welcome to the group and thanks for introducing yourself. Things have been rather quiet on this board lately and I encourage you to participate! Sounds like you lost 1.7 lbs in one day, which is a great start. Congratulations! Did you have any adverse symptoms? I found the first couple of days of the cleanse…
  • Hi Butter167, Welcome to the group! I think that 2nd week of The Plan causes a lot of people to drop out. I think that whether to begin from the start or go back to day 9 depends on how long it's been since you stopped. If it were me, and it had been several months or more, I'd probably start from 1. If it had been more…
  • Tried testing fish (tilapia) yesterday and am up half a pound today. But also noticed that I have some yeast going on so maybe it's a matter of having both wine and chocolate in one evening. I don't usually do that. Or, it could be that I skipped coffee and felt sluggish all day long. Trying to do that from time to time so…
  • Jocyme, "impulse testing"--love that! Regarding the flax, did you try the lighter flax seeds? I find them tastier than the dark. I add some raisins, dried cranberries, cinnamon and chopped almonds to mine. The only thing that I sometimes don't like is the texture of them once they've gotten soaked with the coconut milk. I…
  • HI londonjuju, I have definitely fallen off the wagon, and more than once. Most recently, I took off the entire post-Easter week. I have pretty routinely fallen off on most weekends, sometimes gaining back the hard fought weight loss from the previous weekdays. That is why it took me way more than 20 days to get through…
  • Jocymc, that is a good idea to make your own sauce. That way you can control what is in it and make enough to last a long time. I do remember reading in The Plan book that there is extra citric acid incorporated into all canned tomato products sold in the US and that can cause reactivity. So if you really want to be true…
  • Hi Laurie, It's a long process for me as well. In the initial 20 days of The Plan, there were so many foods that I wasn't able to test. I still have a pretty limited repertoire of safe foods. I agree with you on the almond butter. Love it! Another surprise for me was that I now like the flax granola. Hated it at first.…

  • I was thinking it would be great to have The Plan do some kind of home delivered meals program with all of the stuff you need for a week in individual servings. That would save a lot of shopping and chopping for sure!
  • Hi Jocymc, I inadvertently purchased some salsa with a lot of jalepenos in it the other day and gained weight both times I ate it. I wonder if the heat of fresh jalepenos is the culprit. Although I'm still not 100% sure if tomatoes are safe either. But I love them! Lucky you to do so well with the taco bar! Mexican food is…
  • That piece of red velvet cake was worth the 1 lb, in my opinion. Especially if you are able to get right back on The Plan!
  • Hi kron104, I am hoping that some of our members in your age category might chime in, but I can give you my perspective. I believe any day you gain weight or stabilize it is considered a reaction. Likewise any time you test a new food and feel ill, bloated, tired, etc. Or if you find yourself unable to sleep. For me, on…
  • Hi londonjuju, Welcome to the group! I'm happy you've found us, too! How was your first week?
  • Holidays are even harder for me than weekends. I was really "off Plan" both Saturday and Sunday, and had a delicious Easter brunch with many untested foods. I lost .2 lbs both days, which isn't really much feedback to go on in terms of knowledge of what is ok/not ok to eat. Feeling grateful that at least I didn't get a…
  • I'm now on Day 3 of the 5 day self test. It's another breakfast test so I'm trying some toaster waffles with butter and real maple syrup. My carb cravings really come out at breakfast time. I was able to lose about 2.5 lbs on days 1 and 2 of the self test, but since I went kind of bonkers last weekend, it just gets me back…
  • The whole water thing is a challenge for me. I get busy during the day and often forget to drink water after lunch, and then it gets to be 5pm or so and I realize I still need to drink 4-5 8oz glasses. Today is one of those days! I agree it's hard not to have water with a meal. Wine at dinner is nice. Not very thirst…
  • Here is a tip that I picked up on the Lyn-Genet Facebook page that I don't recall reading in the book: Don't drink water 45 mins. before or after a meal. It can be kind of challenging to figure out how to squeeze in all of that water every day, but apparently having water near mealtimes impedes digestion.
