  • Just keep trying! We all have weak times, and I seem to have them about once per week when I just don't care and eat too much. Just try to move past it, retroactively recognize the signs so you can see it coming next time, get some exercise, and move on. I've lost nearly 50 pounds and I still can often barely make it a…
  • If you stick to it, definitely yes! My wife and I are both losing a little over 10 pounds a month and have been doing so for 4-5 months now.
  • I love food too, but my entire attitude and outlook has changed over the past four months and I'm finding I now eat to live rather than live to eat. I still like it, I still get plenty hungry, but I find fruits and veggies more satisfying than ever before, and as much as I want pizza and ice cream, the desire to eat well…
  • Awesome! Glad to hear you've decided to change things up in your life, for the better. You said, "It is hard when you both work and have a little one to take care of, plus we help look after his elderly mother. Lots of stress in life, so will be a challenge." Don't forget, you're not the only one with life challenges and…

  • Well done!
  • Do what works for you and your mood! Anything is better than nothing, and if you do what you don't enjoy, you won't keep at it for very long.
  • I've been eating the Sara Lee stuff mostly as well, along with some Village Hearth Light Italian (40 calories per slice). Coming from some 120-calories-per-slice Brownberry(?) Oat Nut bread it was tough to make the initial switch, but now I really like it. I've always been a big pasta guy too (which is partly why I got to…
  • Doesn't really matter, in my opinion. It's easiest to track daily calories so it doesn't get away from you, but realistically you're looking for a good average over time. A little over one day and a little under the next....no big deal.
  • I don't get the darts one, but for stationary cycle, there are simply so many variables! Speed, amount of resistance in the system, legs only or arms-and-legs (Airdyne style), etc. There are different listings on MFP for the level of effort you put in (moderate, vigorous, etc.), so see if you can use that to make the…
  • Test it out and do what works for you! If a small treat regularly does the job, then more power to you. But pay attention so you can recognize if it turns into just an excuse to eat more or eat poorly and get rid of the treats if that happens. Like others, as I've been working on this over the past four months, I've found…

  • I set the laptop on the holder thingy and watch DVDs. My eyes aren't good enough for books or magazines. I tried playing video games while treadmilling, but I kept moving off the track with my game character's movements! Bad idea.
  • Pizza! No, ice cream. No, pizza. No, a triple scoop of rocky road in a big ol' waffle cone. Yummmm...... Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Weight Loss Tools
  • Yes, if I'm understanding you right, negatives and red text means you went over your daily goal in that category, green text means you're under.
  • You know in your head you've lost what you've lost so the number doesn't really matter, but I went through the same thing and found that mentally the number DOES matter, so i adjusted my previous weights. It's nice to see the real losses and not see a lower number and adjust it in my head.
  • I used it when I was starting out. It's pretty fun and certainly can't hurt, but at this point it won't give me enough of a workout. That said, if I had more time I'd consider using it to supplement my regular cardio with the balance/yoga stuff. As long as you're enjoying it, scagneti, keep at it!
