  • Ours was an oops, but we are so excited she's on the way! Can't wait to meet this little thing!
  • My doctor said use the talk test (try and sing the ABCs - HR isn't that accurate across people), drink plenty of water and listen to your body. On this same note, has anyone been told not to lift above 20 lbs? My husband is freaking out every time I lift something, but I can't find a basis for it other than an old wives…
  • Name: Rebecca Hubby/Partner: Mark How many kids do you have: This is our first! Due Date: Sept 5, 2012 Do you know the gender: Don't know yet Have you picked out the baby's name: Well pick a name when we know the gender Where do you live: Columbia, MO/Bloomington. IN Workouts you are doing while pregnant: I love a couple…
  • I would work closely with your OB. For me, I'm clear to train and exercise as long as I am able (I was fit before hand and plan on simply continuing my old routine). I've heard that it is really a judgement call for each OB as far as what they recommend and the previous exercise habits of the patient. Unfortunately, I…
  • Kinda what I was thinking!
  • Frozen grapes also work - bonus is they are cute as heck :)
  • I add it as circuit training - at least the 30 Day Shred and Ripped in 30 are both circuit training. I have a bunch of her DVDs, pretty much all of them will kick your rear in gear... Yes, even the yoga one. I'd order them online and try them all.
  • I'm 24, too. Not sure how the friend thing works, but feel free to add me ;)
  • I think after a point, it stops becoming a diet and starts becoming a way of life. When I'm not training for a race, I can eat about 1800 cals/day for my height and activity level. Most of the time, I hardly make that because all I want (yes WANT) to eat is fruit and veggies and lean protein. :) But also remember, a low…
  • It might also just be coincidence. I find that I lose all my weight between Thursday and Friday for some odd reason. I work my rear off all week and the scale doesn't move. The poof, Friday morning, I magically step on and drop 2 lbs. No idea why, but I won't ask if that's the way the fat wants to play ;) Try drinking…
  • Same boat here, but we are spending a week with them! I'm bringing a bag of apples so I can eat something... Last time they asked what we liked, we told them and then they got offended because it wasn't what they wanted. Then don't ask people! Sorry, had to vent...
  • I haven't seen anyone say this yet... It kinda depends on what you are doing. If you are sitting at home doing biceps curls with 10 lbs weights, it's not going to get you much. But if you are trying to shadow box with 10 lb dumb bells in each hand, it might be a different story. To give you an idea, when I use weight…
  • Mine definitely use to! It just depends on where you carry your weight. I guess it would be like saying no one's thighs are wider than their hips - definitely not true because of all the pear shaped ladies out there :)
  • There's a limit to how much caffeine you should consume per day. I think it's somewhere between 2-3 cups of coffee. That said, I'm a grad school student and down about 6 cups a day completely black. If anything it has sped up my weight loss... :) But maybe that's because it keeps me awake instead of sleeping (I know, I…
  • I can't see your diary, so I have no idea what you are eating... But in general, take in quality calories - fruit, veggies, lean protein and nuts. Nuts have a surprising amount of calories, so try working those in where ever you can. Finally, make sure you are recording everything and are recording the right amount. It is…
  • I drink organic low fat... probably just because I want to save my fat for other things - like butter! My husband hated the taste of conventional low fat, then he tried organic - made him a believer. But yeah, if you aren't a butter hog like me, go for 2% or full fat - definitely smoother.
  • You have the most amazing hair! Totally jealous ;)
  • Try making substitutions - I've found you can make just about any cream sauce with skim milk and a flour thickener and get the exact same results as the cream version. Also, try egg whites for eggs, etc... For cheese, go with a full flavor - like sharp cheddar - but only use a bit of it. Instead of spaghetti, try spaghetti…
  • You tummy losers are so lucky! I'll lose weight off of my calves and forearms (which are already toned as heck) and my belly will shrink by like 2 cm... I tend to lose from my fingers and toes up, so hopefully it'll get there soon (I've noticed my thighs are starting to go, as well as my upper arms - sweet!) :D
  • How do I get a job like that? ;) "Uh, lemme just check my formula here, yeah to lose 2 lbs a week, you need to consume 1500 calories according to MFP, I mean according to my math..."
  • Yeah, I think that's crazy high... I burn fewer calories during races (running races and triathlons)... I don't know much about HRMs though. I would just pick walking and select the speed and call it good enough, but I am a bit lazy at this ;)
  • I'm a little late to the party, but here it goes... I'm 5'10 and at 179 right now. I set my goal weight at 140 without really knowing a weight but a look... That is, I would like to say bye bye to my pooch. At 179 I look "wide" when you look at me straight on because my frame is large (definitely large, not just an excuse…
  • I think you have a misconception that you will turn into the Incredible Hulk if you lift heavy weights. Unless you have an abnormally high level of testosterone or are taking steroids, it cannot happen. The female "body builders" that look ridiculous muscular fall into either one of those categories. Guys bulk up because…
  • Yeah, that's annoying because if you are pushing it, your heart rate is up and you are sweating. If you are just sitting there most of the time, then it's probably right ;) I usually log the exercises because I want to know, and then add circuit training but for about a quarter of the time and call it good. So if I lifted…
  • Lots of veggies, fruit and whole grains. Stick with sensible portions throughout the day. I KNOW that if the food is in front of me and on my plate, I will eat it, so as soon as something comes out of the kitchen, I ask for a to go box, divide it in half and eat half of it there. I usually end up eating the other half…
  • My heaviest was at the end of undergrad at 283. Four long years later, I'm 180. I didn't realize I should be concerned about my skin until I was around 230 (I lost weight in stages - dropped to 230 for my wedding, then took a year off, then dropped to 180 and still losing). I haven't had a problem with it going back, but I…
  • Not that this helps, but you don't have too much weight to lose - which means it comes off slower... :( Which isn't cool, but how our bodies work. Make sure you are logging everything. I wasn't losing weight for the longest time and then I realized I was forgetting about the sour cream on my chili, etc. Logging before I…

  • My go to is oven roasted chicken breast with a side of sauteed veggies - which ever kind you want. Add some fresh citrus juice and salt and pepper to the chicken = yummm!
  • After I have a few drinks with friends or at the holiday party, I always feel bloated the next day... So I avoid the scale that day. I think that my body is like, "thanks for dehydrating me, I'm going hold on to the water for a while." Don't sweat it, it will come off. :)

  • After I reach my goal weight, I'm planning on using MFP to keep track of nutrition - not just calories - since it has sodium, calcuium, vits, etc. Of course, I'll probably be more lax about the calories.
