  • I'm definitely going to try the Korean cold spinach salad. I think that's what I'm looking for, foods with different ethnic hints, maybe some spice. We do a lot of zucchini and summer squash. Any other interesting blends? Thanks for all the ideas.
  • Here. Started again on Akins a month ago. Have done pretty well although it was much easier while my daughter was vacationing. Now that she's back there are more food temptations in the house.
  • There's nothing wrong with taking it slowly. This method could probably be really helpful if you eat a lot of fast food and snack items and drink a lot of soda and sweet tea. Take things out one at a time. Like no more eating fast food. No more soda etc.

  • Alot of places soak their chicken in seasonings/flavorings etc. I would look up the restaurant here or on their website to see if someone has posted the nutritional information. Also if you use dipping sauce, carb content can vary in ranch and it's easy to lose track of just how much you're using.

  • I found day 2 to be really hard. Good luck! Be careful with the tomatoes, they are pretty high on the carb scale.
  • Eating more fiber would be eating more carbs. Don't starve yourself. Even if you are over your carb limit eat what you would normally eat for dinner. It helps me to avoid drinking anything like diet soda or tea the rest of the day.

  • You might look into the South Beach diet. I have friends who have had great success following that lifestyle. I believe it uses more carbs initially than Atkins.

  • My go-to snacks are almonds and cucumber slices. It's really surprising how sweet vegetables are when I'm not filling my body full of junk food. I also like pepperoni with a little cheese, lunchmeat rollups. I'm going to start making those minute muffins or whatever they are called.
