  • I know its tough esp if you have a long way to go and although looking at the success stories is encouraging it can also discourage you. You want to look how they look "right now" but the truth of the matter is it gonna take time. 1 lb isn't a big deal. It could be water weight, muscle or sometimes I think my frustration…
  • I think its for the best that I do change it up. All you guys are spot on. I'm hesitant to go off on my own because I'm afraid of failing or gaining weight. But I guess if nothing is really changing now I need to do this in order to see what works. Thanks everyone, its a great feeling to be able to talk to people openly…
  • I'm doing great now from where I was. I started doing water areobics, as a suggestion of the therapist, and the pain eased. My back is fine now but of course I didnt want to re-injure it with weight lifting but I didn't want to be too scared to try. I just need some direction on how much to start out lifting and a routine…
  • Totally agree. If your parent whipped you until you bleed it sounds like they spanked you when they were mad or frustrated. Keep in mind this doesn't mean your parents didn't do a good job but maybe just made a mistake that time and thankfully you were okay. However, I agree with you about the father trying to reason with…
  • I can't stand when you go a birthday party or have an office party and their serving juice with cookies and/or cake. The sweetness from the cake and cookies destroys any sweet taste you would get from juice. Its just an unnecessary sugar overload!!!
  • I would probably just think of some things you may want and test log them to see what how much sodium and calories are in the food item. That way you can do process of elimination. Subway is usually okay, I believe the grilled chicken and/or turkey has the lowest cals and sodium. You can also do a chick-fil-la grilled…
  • Yes. Its like the cheddar sandwhich cheese but white. You can get it just about anywhere. Trust me, I didn't make this stuff up :-D
  • Thank you!!!! Because as an "obese" person (I hate that term by the way) portion control takes time and isn't that easy. Your right, the whole world would be small, skinny, lean, fit etc if we could all "portion" control.
  • Well this is a lifestyle change for me and as I stated I didn't fully cut out cheese. Before I couldn't I see my life without it but now I can. Whether you agree or not is your opinion and your right but when your a person whose trying loose alot of weight you have to wean yourself off of certain things and once your…
  • Good to read everyone's feedback and answers and its good to see that everything doesn't work for every body ( I did that on purpose). I hope this post helps someone lost in the Food and Nutrition category and gives some ideas on where they can start to see what would work for them. Also, understanding what portion control…
  • Muffins are the mistaken healthy food. Cheese and I did have a thang going on but I had to tell him we were better off as friends :-)
  • @Madroch - I'm guessing some type of outdoors work. You look like your interests are hiking and camping.
  • Also, keep in mind all the calories in the system may not be correct. "The FDA allows manufacturers and packagers a surprisingly wide margin of error–the information can be off by 20% in either direction and still be in compliance. For example, if the nutrition facts label says that a food contains 300 calories, it may…
  • Don't be surprised if you're craving or missing a certain food that once you taste it you realize you didn't have to have it at all. That's how I feel but I don't really like hot dogs. I make them for my kids but that is one food I can resist. Now "pizza" that's a different story
  • I have the same problem for both my knees but recently took a week off of some of the exercises that were causing strain to my knees and after I feel great. Once I started back up I made myself aware of my knees and did a modified version of the lunges that give my knees the blues. So if your knees are hurting that bad I…
  • This is so true!!!!!
  • I'm new to this weight loss thing so I am no expert but I have learned alot so far in regards to the science of dieting or having a lifestyle change. I hope you don't mind but I peeped at your diary and it looks like you almost eat the same things everyday. You may wanna try changing it up and added a variety of other…

  • Stay focused to loose another 10 lbs
  • 1)This week I'm aiming for clean eating (no processed foods) and doing a cleanse. 2) Workout 6 days this week 3) Not get on the scale
  • Thanks, I'll take a look at this
  • I was reccommended to do 1200 cals a day by one of my fitness instructor but so were all the other women (I'm the largest in my class and I know that everyone's body doesn't require the same amount of calories to maintain or loose) and I have found that does'nt work for me. I have a hard time sticking to it and it…
  • Spin classes are great for the legs. In a month my thighs were hard as a rock (which my husband looooves btw). So I would def suggest that. Its hard the first 3 to 4 times but stick with and I can guarntee you'll see improvement. I was going to quit at first but I stuck with it and I thank GOD he gave me strength to hang…
  • There a group started in the Motivation Forums starting a challenge to weigh yourselves today and then don't weigh yourself until December. I'm doing it to wean myself off of the scale. I would describe my obsession with the scale just like yours, lol!!!
  • I'm in!!! I get on the scale everyday sometimes twice so this will help me wean myself off of it
  • You just do it. I've tried for years on and off to loose weight but then I've asked myself, are you sure you really tried or did you just do a phone it in? I have'nt lost a ton of weight yet but so far what I've learned on this sight is celebrate the small victories, work hard and keep tracking your calories. Start off by…
