Food has become an industry. And the industrie's goal is to make more money. So far they are doing a very good job ;)

Peanut butter and ice cream :)

Awesome! I am still worried about maintenance. But posts like yours give me hope :)

Do you mean the auto posts to your feed? That should be here: https://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/news_feed_settings

My new mini goal is to reach 82.6kg (182lbs). That is a BMI of 27 - which for my age group is considered to be in a healthy range already. Just 6.4lbs to go!

"Schinkennudeln" ... I guess the German equivalent to "Mac & Cheese" (635kcal per portion) Obviously with ham :)

How does your Garmin count the shifts? Sorry, but I'm still very much "analoge" ;)

It's probably healthier to get to normal weight than to worry about eating "clean". Eating "clean" is such an arbitrary vague term anyway. I like protein shakes to get in missing calories. Especially if I workout late and don't feel like "eating" afterwards. For protein shakes I use unsweetend oat milk as a basis, protein…

Awesome job! Well done :) You look much younger now!

Chicken fried in olive oil with rice and steamed brokkoli (611kcal)
-
You can add a protein shake with peanut butter, oats, linseed, berrys etc. Easily consumed and easily adjusted to the calories you are missing.

@SweetW1ll Awesome! Thank you for the update! It's always nice to see how persistence pays off :)

Not Dutch ... but my kids love Vla :D Whenever I visit the Netherlands (usually to go sailing) I bring back some Vanilla Vla or Dubbel Vla. Also Chocomel ... Man I miss going to the Netherlands now ...

If you want to surprise your partner's mum. It's quite easy to make quark. You just need fresh milk (can be pasteurized but not UHT) and buttermilk. You don't need rennet.
-
Well, quark is a German product. The word "quark" is actually a German word dating back to the 14th century. I was never able to get quark on my travels. But I mostly travelled in Southern Europe, Africa and Asia. That must have skewed my perception. Interesting. Maybe it came to the US with all the German immigrants?

That's awesome. The world is really changing. 20 years ago there was no chance to get Quark outside of Germany/Austria (not sure about the Netherlands). Now you have to check out Mettbrötchen too :D

Are pescatarians allowed dairy? Harzer, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt ... @AndrikosDE created an awesome spreadsheet where you can filter for can filter for food category etc.: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12LrMGp8HiWl2FW-odoexKBMxeDTMUhwd4ooT6VoolJk/edit#gid=0 EDIT: just saw that @AnnPT77 linked to the original…

Two typical German foods: Mettbrötchen - Raw minced meat (pork) with onion on bread rolls for breakfast also Quark - a special form of fresh cheese. Every German that likes to bake has searched for this at least once in a foreign supermarket.

I wear shoes most of the times. When I'm indoor cycling I'm using my cycling shoes with cleats. When I'm lifting I use shoes with elevated heels and a big flat sole. Not using shoes when I'm doing body weight exercises, stretching etc.

Your math may be confusing you because you are so close to the low barrier of 1500kcal. In this case MFP automatically adjusts John's goal to .5kg/week so that his daily calorie intake does not drop below 1500kcal. In order to make John and Jim comparable again you have to adjust both goals to .5kg/week. Otherwise you are…

Congratulations! Two years is some dedication :)

Daily. Withings scale. It logs my weight automatically to the cloud. When you look at the graph you can clearly see the overall trend and understand that some daily jumps don't matter.
-
Thanks everybody for your great responses! You gave me a lot of food for thought! I have started uping my calories ~two weeks ago to get closer to my .5kg goal. I'll see how to get more carbs in. Currently I can't do a proper low bar squat due to shoulder mobility issues. But I'm working on it. And it's getting a little…

Thanks! I assume I only deload the lifts where I'm struggling, no? For me that would be Squat and Overhead Press. Deadlift and Bench press are still fine. Or do I deload all lifts? I understand that. I just wasn't expecting to hit this barrier so soon. I'm still very weak.
-
Thanks! I'll try that out! Yes. Starting strength gives deload advice. I have to read that section again. Besides advice on my programme I was wondering if it this situation is to be expected on a calorie deficit and my age? My thoughts more or less: Maybe I can only expect to build strength once I finished my diet and I…

My maintenance calories is ~2190kcal. I aim for a .5kg loss/week. So my calorie goal is 1640 (all calculated by mfp). I try to eat back my training calories but I'm not sure how much that should be for weight training. Sometimes I lost much more weight per week then what I was aiming for. I'm still trying to figure out how…

You look incredible! Thank you for sharing your story!

I think now I understand where you're coming from. But the activity level in mfp are nothing else than workouts in TDEE. There is no difference if I exercise moderatly or work as a carpenter. Both activities will raise my TDEE. Both activity levels in MFP and TDEE are nothing but BMR x activity-level-factor. You just need…
