  • I had posted almost the exact same recipe a while back  http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/264725-white-chili-low-fat-filling It is such a good dish! My kids love it too - especially when you add the fun toppings to it & eat it with tortilla chips. I tried cooking it once in my slow cooker, but didn't care for…
  • Mine is 22... goal is 20.5 ~ I'm 5'6" What's your goal? You never said!
  • Still in 2011... north central British Columbia
  • I'll hit 400 on Tuesday! I may not actually log my foods every day anymore, but logging in keeps me (somewhat) in line!
  • Swap out your spaghetti noodles for spaghetti squash, or your lasaga noodles for sliced zucchini. I came across a Zucchini Lasagna recipe this afternoon at: http://www.skinnytaste.com/2009/02/zucchini-lasagna.html Using veggies instead of pasta saves a crazy amount of cals & carbs, and gives you the extra vitamins &…
  • As JodaNord said, this is from www.iibc.com/hungry-period/ Studies show that food intake (and presumably hunger) increases in the days before menstruation. Metabolism can jump as well, up to 16 per cent. Why? The hormone progesterone that’s released before menstruation causes the body to heat up and expend more energy,…
  • Hi Jo, When I was on vacation, I was trying to be as "good" as possible, but you know how hard it is to not have an icy cold alcoholic drink on a hot Okanagan afternoon/evening! I was not looking forward to stepping on the scale when we got home, & when I did, I was shocked ! I hadn't logged my foods while we were away,…
  • Age: 31 Sex: F Height: 66 inches Weight: 133 lbs Body Fat : 23% (according to my scale) Daily Calorie Goal: 1200 (until I reach my goal weight - 6 lbs to go!) BF Goal: 21.5%
  • Lots of fresh fruit & fresh vegetables (raw or lightly steamed), lean protein, and whole grains. Try to stay away from the highly processed grains like white flour, instant oats, etc. I posted this topic a few months back on carbs: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/171976-are-carbs-good-or-bad Also, drink lots of…
  • Without any toppings or chips, for a 250g serving (about 1 1/4 cups which is a good size serving), it's approx 220 cals, 29 g carbs, 4 g fat, 6 g fibre, etc. The beans add a lot of calories, but they're really good calories and fill you up! This is with the green chilies added to the recipe. Build the recipe in your recipe…
  • I cooked this tonight for the first time on my new George Foreman grill. It worked wonderfully! I had only ever cooked it on the barbeque, or baked on a stone pan if my bbq was burried in snow. It cooked so fast! Very moist and tender, much nicer than cooking it any other way.
  • Happy to hear you're enjoying the recipe! It's so simple to make, and tastes amazing!
  • True, white & brown rice, or whole grain bread & white bread do have the same amount of carbs. One major bonus of eating the whole grain, though, is the insoluble fibre they contain. If you log 1 cup of white rice, and 1 cup of brown rice, there is 4x the fibre in the brown, and about 7x the fibre in a slice of whole grain…
  • FYI the warm water is to mix the bouillon into. If you substitute it for canned beef broth, omit the water. :)
  • Pork Roast ~ tenderloin (lean), 2 - 3 lb (1 - 1.5 kg) Seasoning Salt, 1 tsp (5 mL) Oil - Vegetable, 2 tbsp (30 mL) Beef Bouillon, 1 sachet (4.5 g) Warm water, 3/4 cup (175 mL) White Wine Vinegar, 1/4 cup (60 mL) Brown Sugar, 2 tbsp (30 mL) Granulated Garlic, 1/4 tsp (1 mL) Tony Roma's - Carolina Honeys With Hickory Bbq…
  • Thanks for the correction!
  • Add Sodium & Sugar to your settings in your food diary, and pay attention to those too, especially the sodium. Make sure you're drinking enough water to counteract the effects of sodium as it causes you to retain water weight (bloating). Try to incorporate more fruit & veggies into each meal (don't worry so much about the…
  • I try to mix it up as much as I can, and my kids (I have 3 as well, aged 4 - 11) haven't complained once about our meals! My hubby has joined me in this journey of weight loss, and has been finding healthy meals to cook. I don't add unneccesary fats to my cooking (no more frying in Tbsp's of oil or butter, non-stick…
  • I love my carbs, and over the past 3 mos since starting MFP, I've learned how to adjust what kinds of carbs I eat. I used to fill up my plate with white spaghetti noodles, scarf that down, and then have a second plate full with just parm. And don't forget the garlic bread.... could easily eat a whole loaf, but now I have…
  • Maybe try to guestimate how much of each ingredient is in it? That's a tough one!
  • Put all the ingred. into the Recipe Calculator (tab under FOOD) and see what it gives you! You have the info from the pkg's, and the amounts you are using of each item. It's a GREAT tool to use.
  • There is a recipe calculator on MFP too. Go to FOOD then RECIPES, add recipe new recipe.
  • Wine - used to be Jackson Triggs White Merlot, but I was introduced to Hardy's Stamp of Australia Riesling Gewurztraminer. SO GOOD! Liquor - Gin, Tequila, Vodka, Kahlua.... I love my Gin Slush in the summer (mix of orange juice, pink lemonade, water, sugar, and gin mixed together & frozen, and served with a carbonated pop…
  • Surprisingly, I've noticed it mostly in my hips, thighs, & face. My belly is slowly disappearing too, but after having 3 kids, I think it's going to take more time... I haven't lost it in the bust yet, thank goodness, but I know I will - I'll be shocked if I don't! I'm down 11 lbs since starting MFP in November, and about…
  • From mayoclinic.com: A few studies indicate that drinking coffee or tea with caffeine may slightly boost weight loss or prevent weight gain. But there's no evidence that increased caffeine consumption results in significant or permanent weight loss. And some of the studies looking at caffeine and weight were poor quality…
  • Definitely log the olives - they're actually quite high in fat (about 1g per olive). Take your best guess at how many were on it. I wouldn't worry about the other veggies so much...
  • I was taking Women's One A Day........ but it caused "issues".... I stopped taking it and those issues ceased. I was getting enough iron in my diet, so I didn't need the extra from the multi. I just take my vitamin D, calcium/magnesium, and vitamin B complex now. The vitamin D because I live in Northern British Columbia…
  • I don't trust it one bit actually, as I've found the same problem, so I verify everything, and edit the item if it's off, or create my own. I find that different countries have different values listed, so I will create it and put the country abbreviation in brackets after the brand name, ie. Kirland Signature (Cdn). This…
  • http://www.kraftcanada.com/en/recipes/rustic-italian-chicken-rice-121473.aspx?cm_mmc=eml-_-rbecaen-_-20110105-_-1124 Try this - it's soooooooo good! You can bake or broil the chicken if you want instead of sauteing it.…
