  • I agree with the above comments on taking your meds. It may seem scary or annoying to have to take a pill every day, but it's so worth it! Stay on top of your diet and exercise, and you'll do it. Slow and steady! I'm a vegetarian and lost weight after that switch, but I don't think it has anything to do with hypothyroid.
  • I found a pretty good one, it's cheap and holds my DDs in while I run. It's from Champion and looks like a regular bra, it has an underwire, minimizing cups, and a little hook on the straps in the back that turns it into a racerback. I found it at our local Gabriel Brothers (a discount chain). I don't know if this really…
  • Thanks for all the suggestions! I am usually walking around giving lectures, but I hate my desk time! I feel so lazy! I'm going to try these hints!
  • Try "A Grain, A Green, and a Bean". Any grain (rice, barley, quinoa), any bean (black beans are my fave), and any green (collard greens, spinach, kale). Cook the grain first, then add the other two until they're hot. You can season with garlic, pepper, lemon, any kind of flavors you like. It is super filling, healthy, and…
  • Try Chipotle; www.chipotlefan.com gives a link to their nutrition information. Just watch the sodium, and try it without cheese. What I get (burrito bowl with black beans, rice, tomato salsa, and sour cream) is under 400 calories and soooooo good.
  • I have PCOS as well, and am just starting my weightloss journey. I am finding it difficult, but keeping on top of calories helps. I have heard that taking thyroid medicine may help as well. If anyone knows of tips, I would love to hear some too!
  • 1. Get to a healthy weight. 2. Find time to work out (with my new work/school schedule). 3. Complete a triathlon.
  • WooHoo!! Great work! Today I swam 20 minutes (the pool closed early), and then ran four miles. I am pretty proud!
  • I had a crappy run today too. I just couldn't find my stride. Reading your post reminded me that I'm not alone! The farthest I've run is 5 miles, you've really inspired me to push my tush! Great work so far, bad days happen, and you rock!! I always call my mom when I have a bad run, and she reminds me that most people…
  • I love big men! When I started dating my husband he was about 270. Now he weighs 170, and I always try to get him to bulk up! He's pretty tall and very active. I just want him to get back to 200!! It makes me feel little and cute when he's bigger. :) Maybe I'm being goofy. He's much healthier now, and we can run together!
  • Thanks for the great ideas!
  • I'm often teaching or running at three, and I don't usually snack. I try to avoid the calories, but I'm thinking it might help in the long run. I love veggies, so maybe some of those would help in the afternoon.
  • I love quinoa!! I made a quinoa stuffed acorn squash the other day: not bragging, but it was awesome! Most people in my area have no idea what it is. :)
  • "Chicken, salmon, tuna (no more then twice a week), shrimp, turkey, steak > any processed protein source in the world." TateFTW, do you have protein suggestions for vegetarians? You seem to know what you're talking about. I'm getting tired of the same old eggs and protein shake.
  • With the soreness, it's totally normal and just lets you know that you pushed yourself and did well! Congrats on two miles straight! I get sore when I up my mileage or do hills after laying off them for a while. There are a lot of people using a "foam roller" for muscle recovery after running. You can Google it, or look on…
  • Thanks for the crazy quick response! I love that "Super Freak" was mentioned. Great suggestions!
  • Don't give up on running! Of course, listen to your body and don't run injured, but within reason keep it up! I did the couch to 5K running thing, and it builds up the intensity over time. I thought it helped me a lot. Now I can run 4 miles straight! I did the time one, not the distance one. I hope this helps! Good luck!!
