  • My son suggested that to me, so I do that, too. The FitBit device is not going to be accurate, but most do find it motivating. That alone makes it worth having. Not sure why the very inaccurate hr measurement bugs me so much.
  • I do weigh and measure consistently, and I don't eat all my exercise calories anyway. Maybe my best solution is to wear my HRM for intentional exercise.
  • Well, I went with my daughter once when I was visiting her and I believe it was actually dangerous for me. I had a very late flight the night before, so got only 3 hours of sleep. Also, I always am very dehydrated after a long flight. So....a 90 minute class made me feel very sick. I do think it is a bad thing that you are…

  • I used to just put it in the "Note" section at the bottom. That way I could track it without it changing the calorie part.
  • I had that exact problem. I called support and was told to be sure to hold your strap under water for at least a full minute before putting it on. Haven't had a problem since. You would think the owner's manual would tell you that, eh?
  • Fruit is not "free" on WW. Fruit is 0 points and is to be eaten to satisfaction. Also, you need to be sure that you are getting in all GHG each day and that the amount of fruit you are eating is not standing in the way of meeting those guidelines. A serving of fruit is 1/2 c. Some people can eat a lot of fruit in addition…
  • Maybe what I am describing is not technically interval - wrong term to use. I'm not referring to HIIT. I am definitely in the aerobic zone the whole time I am alternating high impact with low impact for about 3 minute routines each time. My heart rate is probably in the 140-155 bpm for high impact and in the 125-140 range…
  • Okay...I don't run, so this situation may not parallel yours. If I do a 60 min. Jazzercise class and do full on high impact, according to my HRM, I burn less than if I do the same class alternating high impact with low impact. I think it is the whole interval thing and it is very effective. I am less tired after a class…
  • Just looked at your profile. My name is Kathy, too. I also lost to goal at WW and made Lifetime. I have lost an additional 18-20 using MFP. I'm older than you (64) and always say I want to be the oldest person to go to Jazzercise. I think the oldest person at my center is 76. She is a former ballet dancer and a lovely lady.
  • I had never checked on MFP for calories burned in a Jazzercise class, but I wear a HRM. MFP gives me 366 calories (I weigh about 130). According to my HRM, I average 380-410 calories/one hour regular class. Since I would burn a certain number of calories during that hour if I was not doing Jazzercise, I never count the…
  • I did 30 Day Shred. Now I am alternating week by week, 30 Day Shred and Ripped in 30. I know they are very much alike, but just thought I might like doing it that way. I just do 3-4X/week though.
  • OBVIOUSLY, when people say "muscle weighs more than fat", they mean and understand and assume that others understand that they are referring to the same volume of fat/muscle. It's a given. I think the thing that too many people do NOT understand is that it take way more time and lots of work to build muscle, so when…
  • I have been a WW for years (or rather had been) and reached Lifetime years ago. My weight went up and down in about an 8 lb. range. When PP came out I decided it was time to get back to goal and stay there. At the time 29 points was the minimum and I did NOT lose on that. When they dropped to 26, I got back to goal, but it…
  • I apologize. I didn't read your post carefully. I answered, but I did not and do not take WB for weight loss. BTW.....I have read some about the Ritalin/Topomax combo for weight loss, but the side effects were VERY SCARY!!!
  • I took Wellbutrin XL from most of 1999 to 2012, when my insurance no longer would pay for it. I had tried the generic for almost 18 months previously with very poor results. I now take Aplenzin which has the same main ingredient as the WB, but since there is no generic for it (yet), my insurance covers it. SO many people…
  • I was on Celexa years ago and gained 9 lbs. in 6 weeks. I craved sweets like an alcoholic craves alcohol and I had never had a problem with sweets. However, I was desperate to feel better and just hoped that the sweets cravings would subside. What made me know I couldn't take it any longer was because 12-14 hours of…
  • I have had 2 bouts of PF. I saw a podiatrist right away because I have a friend who ended up having to have surgery because she ignored it. I did the exercises, doctor fitted me with custom orthotics, and I had a "gizmo" I had to wear at night. Both times it lasted about 6 weeks. I was not able to exercise (Jazzercise) for…
  • I have been alternating weekly, the 30 DS and RI30. I just do 3 days/week. I do 6-7 (this past week did 9 classes) Jazzercise classes. I started doing more stuff low impact. I figure I get so much cardio that when I do a JM DVD, I'll just do the cardio part low impact. I'm sure I don't burn as many calories, but I am…
  • I got a new FT7 for Christmas. It was fine for about a month and then the same problems mentioned here started. I called Polar and the person I talked to explained that the new design of the sensors on the strap are different. I have been very careful with cleaning the strap and the snaps on the transmitter after every…
  • I'm not a runner, but love those socks. My feet are narrow and the extra padding in the heel and ball of the sock really helps. I have only one pair and the rest of the time I have to wear 2 pair of other socks I have.
  • What works best for me is 3 meals and 1 snack around 3:30-4:00 since I often exercise late afternoon/early evening. If I exercise earlier or it is a rest day, I skip the snack unless I am very hungry. This works for me because eating more often keeps me thinking about food more often. I don't want food to be my focus. It…
  • I LOVE both 30 DS and Ripped in 30 and I alternate them 3-4 times/week. If you have a HRM, that is the best way to measure calories burned. Some use the MFP info and consider it "Circuit" (not cardio). Be careful with that because it gives too many calories burned, unless you use 20 min. rather than the 27 (omitting the…
  • Jillian Michaels recommends the following schedule - 2 days 30 DS - 1 day cardio - 2 days 30 DS - 1 day cardio - 1 day rest. You would still do each level 10 sessions. I actually do 30 DS 3-4 times/week, but I also do 6 Jazzercise classes each week. I enjoy the 30 DS, but I am afraid I would start not to enjoy it if I did…
  • According to Jillian, the schedule she recommends for the 30 DS is 2 days Shred, 1 day cardio, 2 days Shred, 1 day cardio, 1 day of rest. She says the "30" in the name is just a marketing tool. I do 3 days Shred / week, then 5 Jazzercise classes, and 1 day of rest.
  • I haven't made either of those, but Skinnytaste is my "go to" recipe source. I have made MANY of the recipes and they have ranged from good to awesome! I agree totally about the pork pernil!!
  • I'm 5'5.5" and about 130 lbs. I attend 5-6 classes/ week and working as hard at it as I can, I burn only around 400 calories. I think the more classes you do, the more likely your body adapts and I just can't burn more than that. I especially noticed how my calories. burned, decreased over the course of the year last year…
  • I wear Nike. I have 2 pair that I alternate. I have narrow feet, so I have to wear 2 pair of socks for proper fit. I have tried NB (they have narrow), but NB is normally wide, so a narrow in those are no more narrow than regular Nike. I know what you mean about side support. One pair of my shoes are NOT supportive on the…

  • I am 64 and weigh about 130 and range 150-175 calories for 30 DS. I do so much cardio that it takes a lot to get my heart rate up high enough to burn more than that for this DVD. Seems the Curves Circuit amounts are a lot closer to accurate than General Circuit. All I know is it sure FEELS like it should be more than…
  • Age 64, 5'6", 126 lbs. I have exercised 5-7 days/week for years. I wear a heart rate monitor and burn 150-175 calories. It sure feels like it should be more than that. LOL!
  • My main exercise is Jazzercise - 5 classes/week. I do Jazzercise on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday ( back to back - regular 1 hr. followed by 50 min. of Body Sculpt) and Friday. I do 30 DS on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
