Going from Points to Calories

Hey, I was using Weight Watchers to lose weight and now I am on here trying to track my calories instead. But I'm finding it harder to divide my calories throughout the day when there is over 1500 compared to so many less points to work with. Has anyone else made the switch as well and can give me some hints on how making the transition. I used to love eating fruits that are zero points but now they count towad my daily calories so it's harder to stay within my target when I get hungry during the day. Thansks for any help you have to offer.

    Welcome. :flowerforyou:

I went from points to calories and made the adjustment quiet well. I like to eat a heavier evening meal. I usually eat around 300 for breakfast and lunch. 600 for dinner and leave the rest for fruit and snacking during the day. Hope that helps.

btw, I love this way better than counting and I love the app for my phone.

I actually find counting calories easier than points... Less to figure out. I try to do 300 breakfast, 400 lunch, 100 snacks, and 600 dinner. I look at it like money. Do I really want to spend my money on that, or save it to enjoy a nice dinner, etc?

Also, try to incorporate as much protein as possible. Definitely keeps you fuller longer.

40 calories equals one WW point, unless it's something really fatty or sugary, like a cinnamon roll.

I follow WW, but don't use the calculator because this formula is so much easier.

I never thought of it as money before but I like that. And I really like to save as well :-) And thanks for the breakdown for the amount of calories to aim for each meal. I will definety keep that in mind. I have a lot of those 100 calorie snack but sometimes have to have a bit more for a snack but try to keep it under 200. My daily calories is 1560.

I'll give that a try. I also like calories better now as it is easier then having to use the calculater to figure out point value. But I'm not seeing the results I did with WW. Not sure if have the right amount of calories for aim for or if my eating is just bad. I try not to go over but do sometimes. My daily calorie goal is 1560. I will add you as a friend, thanks.

I have been a WW for years (or rather had been) and reached Lifetime years ago. My weight went up and down in about an 8 lb. range. When PP came out I decided it was time to get back to goal and stay there. At the time 29 points was the minimum and I did NOT lose on that. When they dropped to 26, I got back to goal, but it was PAINFULLY SLOW. I really wanted to try for a personal goal I had never been able to reach, so I started double tracking points and MFP. For me, 26 points ranged from 1250-1650 calories/day, so if I wanted the flexibility of using the WP and AP, my weekly calorie total was too high.

At that point I switched to MFP altogether. I loved having all the nutritional info. I slowly made my way to my personal goal on 1200 plus exercise calories and have been able to maintain it (within about a 5 lb. range) for quite a while now.

BTW....my personal goal is 20 lbs. lower than my WW goal.
