  • I believe I have PCOS as well, I haven't had ultrasound to confirm but, I am pre-diabetic now too. My husband and I just started trying to have family. It took this for my doctor to figure out what was going on - even though for years I have been asking why can't I lose any weight even though I exercise lots and eat very…
  • That's amazing. Did you do it all on your own - just using MFP? If so, I have one suggestion - get some professional help to learn how to maintain the weight (holistic nutritionist). It's a whole different game and I don't know about you but, I have no idea how to play that game! Congrats on the amazing transformation!!
  • A few pages back, there was a question of why to choose apples over cake. All the food we eat affects our blood sugar. It you want to control weight, it is very important to control spikes in your blood sugar. Fibre and protein help control spikes in your blood sugar. The apple and the cake both have significant amounts of…
  • You should look go by your waist measurement. Different body types carry weight must differently but, if you are losing weight to be healthy - I think your waist measurement is good to monitor....as smaller waist measurements means less risk for heart disease, diabetes and a pile of other chronic serious diseases.…
  • To answer the first question asked to open this discussion. I tried Almased for 2 months (June 5 - August 16). I did the 3 days, 3 shakes and then I switched to 2 shakes per day opting to eat supper as it was just easier and more convenient to eat supper with my husband. I found it filling, quick, easy and it did give me…
  • I don't understand what this post is trying to make me aware of. Why is the conversation about T2 diabetes? Would love a respond from author. Seems to be so important information here that I may be missing the point on. Thanks in advance. quote] I did look into it a bit a while back. Effectively a shut down/desensitization…
  • Try it with almond milk and add vanilla extract or almond extract. Makes it taste like melted ice cream. Also nice to blend it with a blender and add ice.
  • Exercise helps - even just going for walk. Drinks lots of water and eat frequent healthy snacks (every 1.5 hours). The snacks keep your sugar levels constant. You might want to try eat foods rich in iron. Obviously during TOM, women's iron lowers a lot - I've read that there is a link to cramps and the amount of iron you…
  • Thanks for the info. And don't worry -- at my weight I can handle a few higher calorie deficit days. My pictures are my "goal" weight; not current weight :-) Only 150 calories of weight training - hmm. I'm doing a lot more exercise than that right now.
  • Agree. I wish people would just present what they know and then debate points to determine facts. No need to get personal. We can all learn from each other. Not all doctors are right, not all gym buddies are right. Not all methods work for all bodies. One thing I do know that we ALL have in common is trying to figure out…
  • Thanks, I didn't know that it causes insulin spike and can lead to fat storage. I'm still trying to figure out all the tips like that. I actually didn't do biology before so, I have a lot of gaps to fill in.
  • Sounds good. I will try it.
  • Should I be worried about this if most the sugars are coming from fruit?
  • You lose weight in the reverse order that you gained it. Unfortunately that usually means the areas we want to lose the most will be last to come off. All you can do is increase calories your body uses (by exercise) and take in less calories (by eating healthy foods).
  • I'm 5'3"-5'4", I have been anywhere from 118lbs-195lbs. When I was younger at 135 I was wearing size 7-8. I was down to size 5-6 when I was 118lbs. I have always had a nice bit of muscle due to playing a lot of sports (basketball, jogging, downhill skiing). Six years ago, I was down to 148 and wearing the same clothes…
  • Nice mod to the quote. My first thought when I read the quote was "damn, they haven't tasted my cooking". I love food and finding ways to make healthy foods mouth watery. I think of this catchy quote when I'm about to make a poor food decision. "Thin" to me means "healthy". When I was thin, I was extremely athletic. I…
