  • Well, my roller coaster of "back on track" then "back off track" seems to continue. I did really great last week, worked out every day, stayed away from bad food and get alcohol out of my diet... Then the weekend hit.... We had a big fundraiser party at our house on saturday and I ate way too much bad food and had way too…
  • The only scale I use is my gym scale. I weigh after my workout around the same time most days with nothing on. I think if you use the same scale every time then it really doesn't matter if that scale is off by a couple of pounds.

  • I'm seeing one tomorrow too! I can't wait to get some good info!
  • Well, today is my day off running so I went to the gym and did some strenght training. I did run 3 miles yesterday, which I'm very proud of cause it's the furthest I've gone so far. 3 down 10 more to go for my half marathon. There's a 5 mile run tomorrow morning for a festival they have in my home town.... I'm toying with…
  • A little knowledge is a dangerous thing... It's crazy the things people will try to espouse as true... Good thing we have a resource and know better.
  • Gotta watch those men... they can be tricky! I think I'm going to do a local 5k in July, just to get the feel of running in a race. I do plan on walking and running the 1/2 marathon. I don't think I would be able to run all the way but I'm certainly going to try and run as much as I can.
  • I would love to join! I just started running a couple of months ago. I guess I go whole hog (pardon the pun) when I start something cause I'm training to do a half marathon on July 20th. I'm raising money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundatio of America. It's been interesting so far and I'm starting to see some progress. I…
  • The same thing happens to me! I wonder why people are staring at me and then I realize how hard I'm breathing. I agree, if I could hear that I would probably stop sooner! I really find if I can make it through that first 5 - 10 minutes it starts to get better.
  • I have a small snack with some protein and a quick digesting carb. So it usually an apple with peanut butter or a banana with almonds... Today it was a kiwi with almonds. I try to have it about half an hour before I work out. Gives it time to digest and give me some energy. If you are weight training you should have a…
  • Stir Fry Chicken and Brocolli! It's so yummy! The brocolli soaks up the sauce so I don't miss the rice. I like to make it with some Thai Red Chili Paste a little low sodium soy and a dash of fish sauce. 1 chiken breast 2 cups brocolli +sauce = 310 calories
  • Yes, you can offset a less active day by being more active on the days around it. Like when I know I'm going to have a big calorie day because of a social activity I try to work out a little more on the days around it. You are looking more at a weekly average of calories than a daily. The day to day tracking just helps…
  • You hang in there Kistin! I'm in the same boat and wondering where all that single minded dedication went? I've really been slacking the last month. I'm working out but not consistently and defintely not watching what I eat as well as I should. Last time I checked my weight, which was a week ago, I was up to 215! :explode:…
  • Sweet potatos and yams are amazing foods and very low on the glycemic index. "Not all carbohydrate foods are created equal, in fact they behave quite differently in our bodies. The glycemic index or GI describes this difference by ranking carbohydrates according to their effect on our blood glucose levels. Choosing low GI…
  • Kistin, I'm going through the exact same thing. Motivation has lagged and it is really hard right now to say no to the temptations and yes to those things that are good. What seems to be helping me is thinking about all the things that motivated me in the first place. Never having another back surgery, my friends wedding…
  • Same here! Must be a guy thing.
  • I'm right there with you. I was moving for the last two weeks so had no kitchen to work with and basically used that as an excuse to eat crap. And work got so busy that I didn't have time to get in my daily workout. I put on 5lbs in two weeks! How is it that it goes off so slow and comes back so fast? I weight myself every…
  • I'm back! Ok, life just ran me over with a tractor! Work got so busy that I couldn't get in my usual lunchtime workouts and then I was moving every night. And we all know what happens when you are moving, you have no cooking stuff, everythings in boxes so you eat out A LOT! Anyway, with all that I totally fell off…
  • Have fun! We know you'll do great!
  • I've been doing the fitness portion of the BFL program for almost 12 weeks now. I did not do the nutrition part because I really don't want to do shakes and bars. I do eat about 6 - 7 times a day though. I have seen some great changes in my muscles since starting it. I have a lot more strenght and can really see some…
  • Ok, I'm still not logging my weight until this Friday. Life seems to be getting in the way of exercising and staying with my healthy eating. These days I'm either so busy I don't eat enough calories or I have social events planned and eat/drink too much. On the upside I had a great weekend. I started my half marathon…
  • Great Job! :flowerforyou: You are getting the lifestyle down! I did the same thing with a Red Robin burger about a month ago, but I wasn't as good as you I ate the whole thing, and just like you I found I reallyd idn't like it as much as I used to. Part of me is glad I went and had it though because now I don't crave them…
  • Remember, you should have 8 - 10 servings of Fruitis AND vegetables. If you are covering that with only fruits you are probably limiting your vitamins and taking in a lot more sugar.
  • Ok, once it stops raining here and is sunny long enough to dry out the ground I'm going to try this! I bet it will be a great addition to my half-marathon training!
  • Too funny, I had spaghetti squash spaghetti with home turkey tomatoe sauce. Mine was very yummy. 320 calories!
  • Yes, enjoy things you love now and then. This is all part of learning to have that healthy relationship with food. No food should be off limits we just have to learn to have those higher calorie items in moderation. Enjoy the burger and don't feel guilty. You can even work out a little more on the days around eating it to…
  • 50% Dixie, funny since I grew up in Alaska, went to college in California, and now live in Washington...
  • I'm glad your father-in-law is doing better. Don't stress too much about the gain. I'm sure you are right about the cause of it. And if you can't get to the gym tonight don't worry, the house stuff you'll be doing is probably a workout in itself. Drinks lot's of water and get back to it once you have everything in order.
  • Thanks guys! I can't believe I'm doing it! I'm really trying to look at my life in a whole new way and that includes doing this I never thought possible.
  • Don't beat yourself up. It happens. You are doing a great job and once in a while you will have those days or weekends that aren't perfect. That's ok! :flowerforyou: Hey, in case you guys didn't see my other post here's the link. I'm running a half marathon to raise money for Crohn's & Colitis! Eeek!…
  • Hello Fellow MFPers! If you have read my profile you know that last year I had a major scare. I lost the use of my legs. I had been having some back problems and one morning I got out of bed and the pain was so intense I almost threw up and passed out. Little did I know but two hours later when I tried to stand my legs…
