JULY GOAL CHALLENGE (April 28th-May 2nd)

Good morning fellow challengers. I hope everyone is doing well. I have not yet weighed myself this week so I have NO idea where I'm at. I can say that foodwise, I think I did okay. But I ended up getting sick last week (ALL week)...which put my workouts on hold and I haven't been to the gym since last Tuesday. So...I have NO idea what the scale is going to say and I'm actually thinking about just waiting to weigh in until next week. So....all I can say is GOOD LUCK FRIENDS!!!!!!! And I'll post later this week if I do weigh in. :drinker:

    Today- 164

This is a bitter sweet weigh in for me. Yes I am so happy for the 1 pound loss, however on thursday and friday I cheated and weighed in each day. I weighed 163.4!!! I was so happy and on saturday I went on a day trip and ate subway all day. And so I am a little disappointed that I gained as well. Good Luck everyone!!! Heidi
  • Well... I officially hit the dreaded plateau! This month I've only lost a total of 2.8 lbs! :explode: I am so frustrated but I am not going to give up!!!

Hopefully the weather will start to get nice so I can change my workouts to some outdoor activities.

    My stats:

    Start of JGC: 182 lbs
    Last Week: 160.8 lbs
    Today: 160.2 lbs

Total loss for week: 0.6 lbs (yeah, yeah still a loss but not one that I like to see :grumble: )
Total loss for JGC: 21.2 lbs
Total loss for MFP: 29.8 lbs (still can't get to a 30 lbs loss!!! )

I only have 10.2 lbs to go to hit my JGC and 20.2 to hit my overall goal! UGH~ I hope I see some results next week!

Good luck everyone, have a great week and see you next Monday! :flowerforyou:

I also haven't weighed in today. Still a little water retention for a few days. I am going to Vegas for the weekend so I may weigh in on Thurs morning just to see what I am before and after 3 days of partying :drinker: I found out that my hotel/casino has a gym that I can pay to use if I muster up the energy.

I did, however, measure and I have lost another 2.5 inches overall so I thought I would post that instead. I don't know if I measure the exact right places (I use the bulge under the bellybutton for waist), but they are the biggest on me. I have a pretty athletic frame.

Hips then (43.5) and now (39)
Thighs then (24.5) and now (23)
Waist then (35.5) and now (31)
Biceps then (12.5) and now (11.5)

I went on 3 nice long 20-25 mile bike rides this last week so that may have helped the lower section. And hopefully the nets are up at the tennis courts this afternoon.

Heidi - I used to cheat mid week and was ALWAYS lower by 1-3 lbs. Then I would weigh in on Monday and ALWAYS gain 1-2 lbs of that back. Very frustrating. I decided that it was because I was doing a big workout on Sunday and the extra food with salt combined with swollen muscles and excess water was the reason I had gained (that I told myself). Maybe we should change our days to Tues or Thurs!

Rookie - keep it up! I loss is still a loss. Although I totally understand the 30 lb mark thing. Do you drink green tea? Or maybe have one really nice cheat day and up that metabolism!

Kistin - sorry you were sick. I have been spared all winter. Thanks for the post though.

Have a great weekend. I will try to get on next Monday!:flowerforyou:

    I'm back!

Ok, life just ran me over with a tractor! Work got so busy that I couldn't get in my usual lunchtime workouts and then I was moving every night. And we all know what happens when you are moving, you have no cooking stuff, everythings in boxes so you eat out A LOT!

Anyway, with all that I totally fell off track for about 2 weeks. Which today when I stepped on the scale equaled a 5lb weight gain! I knew it was going to happen, at least with all the carrying boxes and going up and down stairs I probably really did get in some good workouts. I know a lot of the weight is also water weight cause I have not been good about getting my water in, and had way too many salty foods and alcohol.

So, I'm back on track and went to the gym today. I brought all my meals and am drinking my water. I really have to make sure I stay on track too, cause my half marathon is quickly approaching. I got my training schedule from the trainer today so I'm excited to start that tomorrow.

    Ok, here are the stats.

Who knows maybe this will kick my weight loss into high gear after having a couple weeks off. Hey, one can always hope!

Hey folks! I'm always late to this post because I don't weigh in until Tuesdays - for exactly the reasons that Lizard and Heidi were talking about! Mondays are always bad for me - I often don't get as much water in, and I usually eat out once on the weekend. But by Tuesday I am usually back on track.

This week was a stressful one, but I still managed to work out 5 times - including tennis on Saturday and swimming on Sunday. So I feel pretty good about that. My numbers are surprisingly low today, and I suspect it's because I didn't really eat a regular dinner last night (I just had yogurt, cashews, and a little dark chocolate - adequate calories, but low on volume). I'll be interested to see what happens next week. But at least I lost some - I hadn't really seen a loss in nearly 2 weeks.

Start of challenge (2/12 for me): 194.8
    Last weigh-in (4/22): 182.0
Current weight: 179.8 <-- hooray for hitting the 170s!
    July Goal: 155

    Pounds lost this week: 2.2

I've also lost a half inch off both my waist and my hips since I last measured 2 weeks ago!!! A lot of my pants are falling off... :ohwell:

Good luck, everybody! And Kistinbee, I hope you feel better this week. :flowerforyou:

Thanks friends! I do feel better this week. However...I'm already off to a bad start! Yesterday I had full intentions of getting to the gym or atleast taking the dogs for a walk, but didn't end up doing either. My husband and I went to Walmart (which is a venture in itself) and then came home, I did dishes, folded a bunch of laundry and then we climbed in out hot tub and had a glass of wine. WTH! I can't seem to get out of this rut! And I know I'm just continuing to gain! I haven't weighed myself in forever and really am scared to! Tuesdays and Thursdays I am usually fine because I go to a step class after work and then do some abs, but the other nights are killing me! I just need to find my motivation again, and summer is coming fast! I won't reach my goal! :explode: :explode: :explode: It's just very frustrating! And I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that my husband has ceased all work outs at the moment as he is very fruestrated with his job and we are really low on money, so he has been working crazy hours and is exhausted when he gets home. Then he likes to vent and I usually try and spend some time talking with him. I sometimes try and convince him to go on a walk with me, but that usually doesn't happen. SO...here I am...stuck...not sure how to find my motivation again. Any ideas??? I'm up for any sort of advice! Sorry to vent!

  • *Kistinbee* I was feeling the same way for a long time. It is so hard to find that motivation again. I was using my kids as an excuse to not workout because I would be too tired. I guess we just have to make it a goal to be GOOD for just one day, and then maybe just one more, and then all the sudden it becomes a habit again. Also a great motivation booster is having someone actually notice. My hubby grabbed my butt and then took a double take. About 5 mins after he did that I said why did you grab my butt twice, (he never does that), he said it surprised him because it was smaller so he had to check again. Sorry if you didn't want to here about my butt, but I was so happy that he noticed, I did not even realize it was getting smaller. I am working double hard now. Good luck on finding your motivation. I know that when I was motivated I was always jealous of your weigh in's and stats. You were kicking butt. We have been about the same on stats and I could'nt believe how strong you were. At that time I was not logging and did not care. I actually wanted to do good because you were. You can get it back. Come on summer is almost here!!!! And Lizard I think that you are right. I think I will change my weigh in days. Thanks, Heidi

Well increases in body parts. arms, legs and such are slow or not at all the last week. my waist at the belly is shrinking and i started a new work out this week for the last 10 weeks before i go on vacation in July to give my system a kick in the butt.

Started weight loss in Jan @ 268
    Started MFP @ 262
    last week 246.2
    This week 244.8
    Total loss 23.2 lbs

5 lbs to go to hit my goal, however i think my body fat will still be in the high teens so i may keep loosing then try to gain some more muscle mass once my body fat is where i want it to be, 10% to 12%. Im still "off cycle" for all of my suplements except protien powder so maybe the gains will start up again when i go back on cycle in 2 more weeks.

Keep up the good work all.

I just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing so far this week.
I've been pretty good but working late and worrying about BATS in my house has cut into my exercise time. I missed on Tuesday, but forced myself to get down to the gym today so I feel better about myself. My eating is pretty good, but I've been feeling hungry - I think I need to drink more water. I was doing good for awhile but lately I haven't been quite getting my 8 cups.

Kistinbee - is there any chance you can squeeze your workouts in at another time during the day so it won't feel as dependent on how your husband is feeling when he gets home? Maybe before work, or at lunchtime? It is great when you have someone at home that is interested in working out and helping you stay motivated, but ultimately you are doing this for you. You're worth it! :flowerforyou:

    Keep it up, everybody! :drinker:

Kistin, I'm going through the exact same thing. Motivation has lagged and it is really hard right now to say no to the temptations and yes to those things that are good.

What seems to be helping me is thinking about all the things that motivated me in the first place. Never having another back surgery, my friends wedding coming up (which I have to wear a strapless dress for) my family reunion in Oct. It doesn't always work but as hheath said, we just have to take it one day at a time. Or one meal at a time. I'm trying to praise myself and do what I can. And I know I'll come out of the slump.

When I first started I wasn't highly motivated but then I got there, fake it till you make it!

On the upside, I'm back down another two pounds. Looks like my two weeks off weren't as bad. So now I'm back to 212.

I've also readjusted my goals for the end of this challenge. I really didn't want to punish myself by continually looking at a weight goal that was no longer acheiveable.

So now my goal is to be at 198, which is another 12lbs.

    WE CAN DO IT!!

Ok, now i"m going to the gym
