here is my running update for today...I did walk first thing in the morn with a good dear friend of mine, and then we hit up for some coffee and I needed a pre run nosh so I grabbed a whole wheat bagel with low fat cream cheese and it gave me fuel like no other lemme tell you
I ran the hiking trail twice and then finished off with another mile and a quarter mile sprint to my truck. I was rather happy that I was able to do this 45 minutes and it was appoximately 5 miles....so i had a wonderful running day!!! hope everyone elses went as well

I jogged a mile and the shin splints got bad so I had to stop and get on the elliptical. :grumble: I burned 275 calories in total for 30 minutes of cardio.

After being out sick for another 2 weeks, I'm back. I've built back up to 12 min. @ 6.8, 3 min walk @ 4.0 and 5 min @ 6.8, plus 5 min ea. for warm up and cool down.

I'll join. Reading about this makes me want to running outside. I was planning on going the gym, but for the first time in I don't know how long, it's nice here and there isn't much wind. Now I just need to get DH to watch the boys so I can run.

I've been running for about a year (hit and miss). I have asthma too so that stopped my sometimes, but since I've started a controller, I don't even need my inhaler once I get going. I did a 5 K last weekend and my time is enough to motivate me to run more so I can do another one and beat my time (My pace was 7.2, and one the tread I usually run about 6.0-6.5).

I would love to join! I just started running a couple of months ago.

I guess I go whole hog (pardon the pun) when I start something cause I'm training to do a half marathon on July 20th. I'm raising money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundatio of America.

It's been interesting so far and I'm starting to see some progress. I have a training plan but mine isn't really distance it's time. So I have an easy (usually 20 - 45 minute) run on Tuesday, Thursday and
Saturday and easy run or cross-train on Wednesday. Then I have my long run on Sunday which ranges from 70 to 120 minutes.

I get to run with my training group every saturday morning at different locations around the Seattle area.

I find once I get past the firstt 5 minutes I can get into a groove.

I really felt like a hardcore runner yesterday because it was pooring down rain and I still left my office at lunch and went outside and ran for 30 minutes. I looked like a drowned rat when I was done so it's a good thing my gym is right across the street!

Stupid shin splints. Fortunately, I haven't had any this year.
Just realized that pmkelly already answered this. Sorry!

    1/2 marathon - you rock!!!

I'm toying with the idea of trying one in August. My hubby wants me to do one with him, but for now I'm just training for a upcoming 10k.

Double that by August?????

(Might explain all the papers he's had me sign lately.....) :noway:

6 miles today in thin socks and the shoes that I need a bigger size in:laugh: Wanted to do 7 today, but ran, no pun intended out of time. This week is "walk to work" week where I live, so I biked 2 miles to work and 2 miles home-no numbness in the foot, so maybe I just need to wear the thin socks until it's time to get new ones:smile:

    Good morning!

I hit the sack at 7:30pm last night (just to sleep), I was dead tired. I think it's due to my TOM. So needless to say, after a good nights sleep, I was up at 5am this morning getting ready for my run.
I felt so good and refreshed. I actually ran my usual morning distance and I ran it 5 minutes faster than usual! Beep beep!! I kicked some royal butt!

I'm going to love these threads, thanks again to PMkelly for coming up with our club name!!

    How y'all doing this morning?
Question, do you run differently when it's TOM?
UH-you hit the sack at 7:30 b/c you get up at 5 am lady:laugh:

Gotta watch those men... they can be tricky!

I think I'm going to do a local 5k in July, just to get the feel of running in a race.

I do plan on walking and running the 1/2 marathon. I don't think I would be able to run all the way but I'm certainly going to try and run as much as I can.

This is great! After reading the messages about running outside I got off my butt and went on a 30 min run. Probably around a 6.5 mph pace but I have no idea how far I actually went. I would have done more, but I had to be home so my hubby could leave.

If this keeps up everyday, I may turn into an outside runner :noway: I really like the gym, and hate the hot/humid summer months so we'll see what happens has it gets warmer up here.

Way to go! That's just what this "club" is all about--motivation and support. (And tooting our own horns once in a while, or more  )

Glad to hear about your run. And 6.5 mph is awesome!

4 miles in 35 minutes yesterday. Not my best, but I felt strong all the way through it. I count that as a success.
