  • I'm going to get blasted here... :# but I think you should simply try cutting out processed foods and spreading out your calories. Eat real food. Your breakfasts are too small and you're eating a lot of processed foods. Not all calories are created equal, nutrient dense foods are best. No argument against weighing, I…
  • Only a few months after you asking, (did a forum wide triathlon search)... There are two in Peachtree City that are awesome. The first one is coming up in May I believe, it's an Olympic Distance and SuperSprint (http://www.tri4gold.org/pit) and then in August is the Sprint Triathlon…
  • I've been trying to work weight's into my routine twice a week. This plan is great, build's all around strength and specifically hits muscle groups needed in running (and other triathlon specific muscles). http://www.active.com/triathlon/Articles/Mark_Allen_s_12_Best_Strength_Exercises I would also add running with runners…
  • nike and runkeeper are easy to use and on apple and droid. I know a lot of people use Endomondo and it apparently sinks.
  • Find a race this time of year, run the race, get the long sleeve tech tee. Two birds, one stone :)
  • Yeah, I'm personally building up to marathon distance.
  • Yeah, that's usually how it works out for me too, I've been running ~ 40 miles a week with a 13-15 mile long run at the moment. Amping up to some +20 mile long runs once the temperature drops a bit more. I run 6-10 miles during my normal weekly runs.
  • Just announced - http://sites.garmin.com/forerunner10/ It's a Garmin and it's the cheapest on the market (pretty sure that's true). I've been using Nike+ GPS, but I would have went with this if I knew. You can also buy the Nike+ for $145 (without the foot pod and add one later, also add a HRM). I love mine though, it looks…
  • I used to and I did for my first half and full marathon, it makes it a little more fun, but... I'm an iPod killer.... I've sweat out too many iPod's and they ain't cheap.... so I run without and I find I'm a good conversationalist with myself, lol. I love the quiet time and it makes me more aware to my surrounding. I enjoy…
  • Finding a running club can make it more enjoyable. There is also a running club for women (Mom's run the town) with branches all over (main chapter is based around here). Hal Higdon's plans are great, I hate plans, lol (Sucks the fun out of running for me). I just try and amp up my miles slowly so my long run climbs on the…
  • I'm wearing my Kinvara for my half in a few weeks. Love them! Curious how you handle both shoes since the Kinvara are 4mm more minmal shoes and the Pegasus are a much bigger drop and more support?
  • Ditto... I just run. If you don't love running sign up for a 5k and you will
  • Harro :) My name is Russell, I'm pretty new to running, I started April 16, 2011 with a 5k I got duped into and I feel in love. I've since ran a few more 5k's, a half marathon and a full marathon. I've even done a sprint triathlon (is that ok? lol). I'm currently training for my second half marathon on Oct 7 and my second…
  • I was 400 lbs when I did my first 5k, I was 265 when I did my first half marathon, I was 225 when I did my first marathon. DO IT! That is all within a year, it is completely doable! Find a plan and stick to it the best you can! You can run it, you can do it! I ran my whole half marathon, I had to walk some on my marathon…
