Hi, I have never tried Metformin, but I also have PCOS and I really believe that the 5th round of IUI that finally worked for me (after months of other fertility treatments) was due to the fact that I started low carb diet and cinnamon supplement (which mimics Metformin according to my endocrinologist and should not be…

That's a really interesting problem you have - I've never heard of any gluten withdrawal symptoms. When I went gluten free two years ago, I had absolutely no symptoms other than gradually getting better and better. Quite honestly I feel that your symptoms can be unrelated to gluten, I mean it's not like our bodies really…

Thank you! :)

Yes, Celiac and Gluten Sensitivity are definitely covered under ADA: http://celiacdisease.about.com/od/sociallifestyleresources/f/Does-The-Americans-With-Disabilities-Act-Cover-People-With-Celiac-Disease.htm It's great to hear that in your case you've been met with this level of accommodation. As always, it's about people.…

Thank you for sharing your experience! :) Since I only get gluten-ed at work, because our chef refuses to communicate with me, I've decided to do something about it and put the Americans with Disabilities Act to work. ;) Check out my latest post here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1229100-employee-lunches-request

Gosh, no gluten AND no potatoes + no corn - that makes my dietary restrictions look like nothing! I can't imagine not being able to have potatoes. Enjoy your chip treats! :)

Hi there, I'm a fellow Celiac, but I got diagnosed 2 months ago and I've been actually losing weight (it seems to be much easier for me now, since I'm not tired all the time and am feeling much better gluten free than I have for years.) I've sent you an invitation to join "Gluten Free" group - you can find all kinds of…

Week 0 - 203.4 lbs

Hi there! My name is Eliska, I'm 32 and I'd love to lose 20 lbs before Christmas! :-) I'm currently 204 lbs (only 4 to go and I'll be so happy to see the dreaded number start with 1.) My GW is 150 lbs and the heaviest I've ever been was 220 lbs. I've recently found out I'm a Celiac and changing my diet has totally changed…

Awesome job! I hope I'll get to that point soon as well!! :-)

So my blood test results came back, all normal, including iron and B12 levels. I'm not sure how likely am I a Celiac with normal levels of iron and B12 though - will see the numbers soon, want to see just how "normal" those levels are. I found out that the reflux meds (Lansoprazole - Prevacid) give me diarrhea, so I've…
-
Great discovery! Can I ask what reflux meds are you taking at bedtime? I always thought they're best taken in the morning, but your strategy might be better fit for me!

A word of (hard learned) wisdom: never run on a full stomach :noway: (especially when full means really full and included spicy salsa & acid reflux) My W2D1 didn't go too well as a result of not following this common sense! :embarassed: Well, I walked the last 1/3 of the run and my heart rate monitor still said I…

So here's my update - went to my doctor, who was very nice & listened to all I had to say (which was a lot, hih), asked questions and told me that I've done a good job on self diagnosing. She said that it's clear I have problems with gluten, most likely Celiac disease, and would like to run tests to confirm that, but for…

I found this really helpful information on gluten sensitivity testing: http://celiacdisease.about.com/od/glutenintolerance/a/Gluten-Sensitivity-Testing.htm

I found this great explanation of what's needed to be able to deduct gluten free food from your taxes: http://www.glutenfreecookingschool.com/archives/is-the-tax-deduction-for-gluten-free-food-worth-the-hassle/

I hear ya. I think we have the same system in my native country, Czech - I'd definitely need the diagnosis over there too. Things are a little different here behind the Atlantic, the main difference is that I'll have to spend some $$! :-b
-
So appointment made for next Wednesday. Will update. :-)
-
I better be fast if I want the gluten blood test work - I'll make an appt. today. I've only been off gluten for 2 weeks.
-
Amazing! Are you in the U.K.? It sounds to me like an NHS thing. The only thing I know of here in the U.S. is that the $ difference between regular and gluten free food is tax deductible, and that's only if we itemize our deductions. Still would make a difference for me I think...
-
Thanks for your reply - yes, you're right, I probably shouldn't need a "label", but do I want a "label"? Yes, I do. I'm the sort of person that needs a confirmation, to be sure that I'm not imagining stuff, LOL. I also think that if I do have Celiac, it'd be important to know about it, since there're other issues…

So I finished W1 yesterday! It was pretty tough, since my legs were really sore and heavy after my bike ride on Tuesday, but I did it, yey! Ready for W2D1 tomorrow.
-
Thanks, Robin - so did your doctor run any tests for gluten sensitivity / celiac at all? It sounds as if you are allergic to wheat just like your Mom, good job figuring it out.
-
PK, that's so inspirational! :-) I just did W1D2 yesterday (gone during the w/end, so a little behind, but still on track) and it went great - I ran much faster than the last time and was able to watch my form a little more. I wanted to ask you all whether you train 3 days a week, every other day, or even every (or almost…

Ladies that you so much for your input! arewethereyet - this is amazing, thanks so much for sharing your experience!!! I looks like you're a couple of steps ahead of me on our gluten free journey and your information is simply priceless. :flowerforyou: I've had basically all your symptoms except for the migraines. I guess…

puref1r3: thanks for the tip, I'll try my best to finish the program in 8 weeks, but it's good to know that it's OK to go back and it won't make me a loser. I have such competitive nature it's hard for me to see that sometimes.
-
jmdmps: what a fun saying, I love that! I'm definitely on the turtle-ish side, LOL - whenever I started the running part of the workout and looked at my dog, he still looked like he's just walking!! And he's a tiny little thing!
-
Hi Mandy, you can add me - I'm new at gluten free, but I'm pretty creative when it comes to food and like to experiment.
-
I'm not sure how I run, to be honest - I'll pay closer attention to my running style tomorrow. But since I now know I tend to overpronate, I'm probably not a very good example.
