  • OK the Withings Pop looks seriously awesome! From the website though, it seems as though it is saying it cannot ever be charged - once it runs out of the 8 month guaranteed battery you have to replace the tracker??? Can this be right?
  • I previously used a FitBit One, but it now appears to have died after about 8 months of use. It seemed mostly accurate, but definitely wasn't always accurate - would count steps if I drove down a bumpy road.
  • I do this and my kid loves it, calls it green snakes.
  • The general rule of thumb is for plus sizes, 15-20 pounds is one size. For very small/petite sizes, 5-10 pounds is one size different.
  • 300 cal dinner? I think not. Frequent small snacks do not help with weight loss; this was an idea floated decades ago that is thoroughly debunked in the medical literature. Some people may like that approach and find it helpful and that's great - but there's no reason to deliberately try to snack frequently. Use MFP, we…
  • If after dinner is your binge time, then there's a lot you can do. First up is LEAVE and go somewhere there is no food. Go shoe shopping. Go for a walk. Second, ask for help. Tell your family that this is a hard time for you and have them guard the kitchen. And come to Mfp and spend some time in the boards or logging your…
  • If you don't prelog, how do you know if you have enough calories to eat it?? I usually log after breakfast, sin that's when I'm planning what to cook that evening. I will log what I think I am going to eat. If I know we're having burgers, I'll log the burger. Then I can see how many calories I have for lunch and side…
  • Wow, calorie counting doesn't work? My scale must be reading seventy pounds off. I wonder if it is still under warranty.
  • Just checking in. I am a guilty non-exerciser. I do some here and there and try to get a good step count on my pedometer but most of my exercise is yard work. Yes, you can lose it without exercising, and you'll lose fat, not jut muscle. I'm down 70 pounds and didn't have much muscle to start with! However, exercise is…
  • That sucks. I ate out recently and I knew I had calories so I just ordered what I wanted. BIG mistake. Here's how I look at it - now you know. Those quesadillas will not get another chance to make you fat. You saw, you calculated, and next time it'll be one quesadilla and a salad.
  • I followed basically this exact plan for nearly five years, and kept my weight between 115 and 120. My AM weights generally have almost no variations, half pound at the MOST so I am sure that any weight gain is fat. On that plan I tracked food on average half to to thirds of days - I'd often track and keep a small deficit…
  • How about creating goals based on following your plan? For example, track food every day for three months and stay under your calorie range at least four days a week. Or if you're doing strength training, set your goals on what you're able to lift (with advice from your trainer on what's reasonable in what kind of time…
  • Wow! Everyone's stories are such an inspiration. My summary: Pregnant weight 1/26/12: 240ish Baby's first birthday 1/26/13: 217 Current weight: 152 Goal: 120. The last time I weighed 120 was 2008 and I will get there again! I'm 5'2". Fellow short ladies, feel free to friend me.
  • Bump! I tried this once and also didn't get good results
  • Agree with everything the others have said... But your problem is that every single ingredient on the list is high calorie. If you add in low calorie ingredients, then you will be able to eat a lot more. Roasted eggplant or zucchini maybe?
  • Any meat or fish Omelet with cheese Cottage cheese Dark green veggies as your side, like sauteed spinach or broccoli (very low carb)
  • Blueberry avocado salsa! The recipe looks really odd but trust me this is to DIE for. I get asked for the recipe whenever I make it. •1 1/2 cups fresh tomatoes, quartered •2 cups fresh blueberries •2 tbsp lime juice •1/4 cup sweet onion, chopped small •Pinch of salt •1 tbsp chopped jalepeno pepper •1 ripe avocado, cut into…
  • My diary is open but not always a source of pride! Friend request sent
  • Losing 40 pounds won't give you any loose skin unless you have terrible genes and/or smoke. Usually skin is a problem for people losing 100 or more

  • I get rid of clothes that don't fit. I keep some too small stuff in my clost to try on periodically to check progress that way. I would suggest to you, with the weight training, that you measure waist circumference or percent body fat instead of just weight. You might not see your progress on the scale for a while if…
  • To actually answer the question - I do like to "detox". After being off the wagon it helps to psychologically reset yourself. My detox is as follows: water, black coffee, boatloads of raw fruit and veggies, lean meats, and nuts. Eating nothing but stuff I'm proud to log for a few days really helps me feel like I'm back on…
  • Sorry I am not much help! I have not exercised any more than short strolls since the second year of med school. Not surprising I weighed far less then! During residency there was a set of hand weights in the call rooms... I never used them although I know many did, along with floor calisthenics - lunges, crunches, bridges,…
  • Hi, I'm a 32 year old general internist. I'm struggling with residency and baby weight. I was obese when I was younger and was able to maintain a healthy weight through calorie counting - but I stopped at the third year of medical school, and started gaining, and by the time I delivered my baby I was 100 pounds over a…
