When to get rid of clothes strategy - thoughts?

I have been weight training and doing very little cardio as well as sticking mostly to 1200-1400 cals/day. The weight is not falling off as fast as it did in my 20s. That's cool but it makes the motivation part a little harder.
I am considering getting rid of every single piece of clothing that is even a LITTLE baggy or even just flat out "fits" leaving my entire closet with things that "almost" fit. I am hoping that I'll notice little minute changes like... hey.. that shirt fits a little better, or, these pants aren't as tight as they used to be! and that will be more motivating than losing a whole 0.4 lbs this week. Thoughts? I am still early in my journey so I easily have 20 lbs of loss to go through before I run out of clothes to wear.
Or if anyone has any other ideas to motivate yourself while the scale inches along that would be great too. Seriously this is taking sooo long... I know it took years to put it on and I should just be patient but I am trying to stay positive and wondering how I can measure progress in other ways other than taking measurements, because I can never do it the same way every time. Thanks.

I get rid of clothes that don't fit. I keep some too small stuff in my clost to try on periodically to check progress that way.
I would suggest to you, with the weight training, that you measure waist circumference or percent body fat instead of just weight. You might not see your progress on the scale for a while if you're building muscle.0
