  • Loving reading through this thread! I used to be fully plant based but my wife lured me back to (some) meat products  We recently moved to Japan and are having fun trying out all the produce here - lots of the same stuff but some is cheaper. Most of our “normal American” produce is more pricey so it just pushes us…
  • If it's not too late, I'd like to join. I'm new, so any team is fine with me
  • There is a growing body of evidence that dietary fat (or lackthereof) does not correlate with blood cholesterol levels. Are you diabetic? Or have known cardiovascular (heart or vessel) disease? Do you have family history of cardiovascular concerns (diabetes, high bp, stroke/heart attack, etc)? If no, then I, personally,…

  • Hey all! Sorry I took so long to come introduce myself! I'm Audrey; I'm 34, no children (well no two legged children, we have two dogs and a cat  ). I just got married over the weekend - it was a small civil ceremony with just our two best friends; one got officiated so she could do the ceremony and the other tuned…
  • Ok, took me a few days to catch up on all the posts after being absent for a long weekend (I had taken last Friday and this Monday off of work). My goal was to run 5 times this week - so far have done 2, which means running daily for the rest of the week. Monday I didn't run because we went hiking with our younger dog. And…
  • Thanks all! We have a couple of dogs and I think the dalmatian mix would love to run with me but he definitely needs training first! He's way too energetic and likes to crisscross in front of me when we walk. Got a leash with two handles (one at the end like a normal leash and one just after the clip so I can keep him…
  • Thanks! I was living in Japan when I was somewhat more active in this thread a few years ago. I had heard about the Okinawa people having so many 100+ people and it being linked to diet, but never really knew what the diet was until I lived on the mainland (and we went to Okinawa all the time). The diet has definitely…
  • Right now I'm working on running most days of the week (5ish) going slow and short distances. Right now I've got a good loop through the neighborhood that's 1.5 miles. My fiancee (to be wife on Saturday :open_mouth: ) is new to running so 1.5 is about what she can do with me. So 1.5 miles x5 days a week = 30 miles for the…
  • Hey all - I'm Audrey. I used to post infrequently in this group a couple of years back and then had a series of unfortunate events and wasn't running for quite some time. Getting back into it, and was going to join in for the November thread, but I have been reading your posts for the past week or so. Figured I'd jump in…
  • I'm sorry I haven't been in here to update my weight. This past week and a half was a bit much. I'll do better in the future :) But I do record my weight every day, so I know my weights on the days I was supposed to weigh in. Weigh in day: Saturday Starting weight: 177.6 Week 1: 178.6 Week 2: 177.2

  • Finally getting around to introducing myself: Hello all! I'm Audrey, I'm 33 years old. I generally run or walk for exercise, but haven't been much lately after a bout of mono in early January. Need to get back to it! I'm a second year family medicine resident - I graduated med school almost 5 years ago, did family…
  • @craigo3154 I'm so very sorry for your loss!! <3 <3
  • Feb 26: Exercised? Yes Calories? No :/ Tracked? Yes Daily Strength? Yes I’ll do an introduction post tomorrow - I’m headed to bed :)
  • I saw that you're going to get a food scale, so just to help with this part: Last night for dinner I had cereal and soymilk. The box of cereal (Special K protein cinnamon) says that a serving is 3/4 cup or 31 grams. I had enough calories left for 2 servings of cereal and 1 cup of soy milk, so: 1. I put a bowl on my food…
  • Hello all! I'm Audrey, I'm 33 years old and could definitely use a group to post to every (or almost every) day to help keep me accountable. I generally run or walk for exercise, but haven't been much lately after a bout of mono in early January. Need to get back to it! I'm a second year family medicine resident - I…
  • Username: ACSL3 Weigh-in Day: Sunday Starting Weight: 177.6 :)
  • I'm curious what the 7.2 number references?
  • Sure - I haven't been in any challenge groups in a while :)
  • I was never a smoker, thankfully, but I have done the same thing with my goals on MFP. When I felt like I was putting too much pressure on myself I put my goal to maintain, and then celebrated any time that I had green numbers at the end of the day - meaning I ate at a deficit but didn't stress how much of a deficit. If it…

  • The bolded part is the issue for me as well. Thanks for the post - I've done those things previously and have gotten on this "but I want to eat" kick even when I know I'm not hungry. Got to get back to this mindset :)
  • I get moody when I'm dehydrated - not so much when hungry (or calorie cutting). I guess we all have different things that affect us :)

  • I find my fitbit to be very accurate. If I were you, I'd try eating them all for a few weeks and track your weight loss. If you're losing an average of 2lbs/week (not always linear, but averaging that), then you know its accurate. If you're above or below that, then you can figure out what percentage to eat back from what…
  • For me the scale tends to stay the same for several days/week and then I'll drop half to one and a half pounds (depending on my deficit). I use trendweight.com to smooth out the line - you won't always lose weight every day. You can also use happy scale (iOS) or something else for android, I forget the name. Give it some…
  • I would check and see if you really are still a 34 - your band size may have gone down. Women who have more dense breast tissue (i.e. less fat in their breasts) won't lose as much weight in their breasts. As I've lost weight my band size has gone down and cup size up as the volume of my breasts stays the same but the fat…
