Maybe you don't NEED a surgery, but other people do. I believe that you may not understand the emotional side of morbid obesity and that being forced at first to eat less was what many people need to realize they can do it. I have and still do attend meetings to assist with my eating issues as many people do. In fact my…

I wouldn't say I am "Weaker" than anyone else...I may actually be stronger. Some people go through things in their lives that others do not and have to handle them emotionally. You have obviously had a much easier time at your age then I did when I was 20-21.
-
Sometimes, it is needed for people who don't have the mental/emotional ability to let go of their addiction to food right then and there. The surgery forced me to face WHY I was eating and helped me change my life. Not everyone has the same will power.

I personally believe that Lap Band surgery saved my life. I was 24 and 295 pounds. Once I lost some weight...I was able to start exercising without pain in my back and began to learn how to eat properly. EVEN with surgery, you can gain weight..so I believe that you still have bragging rights ..I worked hard for my 100…

After a workout-the best thing to eat is 3:1 ratio of carbs to protein-so a banana is ok as long as you have it with protein
-
If you have GNC- they have a 100% Whey protein shake that I loved...I tried atleast 20 other ones that I couldn't stand.

He is right. I trained with my trainer last year for 9 months-no "ab" workouts. I had a tummy tuck 11/29 and my doctor did not have to repair any muscle due to all the work I did in the gym. SO.. yes, everyone here is right... the muscles you use to stabilize your body while doing other lower and upper body exercises as…

It does fade..I am 11 weeks out of an extended tummy tuck and mine has already faded a lot!
-
Thanks girls! I know I can do it, just one day at a time!

A good snack is Laughing Cow cheese with Kame Rice crackers, or hummus singles.
-
Definately go for the sashimi if you can, the less rice the better. I love sashimi!

I was banded June 10, 2008. It is good that you realize it is a tool. Because the truth is, the band only assists you to a certain point. I haven't had a fill for close to 2 years and have still lost weight and built tons of muscle. Good luck and add me if you would like!

You have to give your body time to react to changes in diet/habits. It is consistency which will help you lose and maintain a loss, not a week long diet. Just be patient and keep doing the right things.

I had my lap band surgery almost 3 1/2 years ago... 6/2008. I am very happy with how things have gone so far! How are you doing?

Take a look on you tube for some exercise ideas with the kettleball.
-
Definitely love Chobani- black cherry and raspberry are my favorites!
-
You are not alone at all! I started out with 150 lbs to lose and it has been over a 3 year journey so far! You can do it, just take it one day at a time, we are all here for support!

As far as the lap band goes....It does not cause issues with having children. They remove enough saline so you are able to eat a little bit more to feed you and the baby. THere are no problems with malnutrition if you EAT THE RIGHT FOODS. =)

I had lap band surgery 3 years ago and have no problems with vitamin deficiency. I can say that it is ALL about life style change. Gastric bypass and Lap band are just tools. Most of it is MENTAL. SO counseling definately helps. Side note--I was also about 300lbs and 5' 3".

I totally agree. My trainer has been yelling at me for months to eat more, but I was so scared. I have hit plateaus before but I guess the closer I get to my goal, the more nervous I get that I won't lose any more weight. I have been losing for 3 years and it can be so discouraging to see the plateaus. But, I try to remind…

So true! And it feels sooo good to know I can control myself and get back to my normal eating habits the next day!

I usually get steamed shrimp and vegetables with garlic sauce on the side. It is really yummy. Or I do steamed tofu/bean curd with veggies and sauce on the side and I always have a cup of hot and sour or egg drop. Just skip the rice or order brown rice and just have a small portion.
-
I am not sure if you do either, however I would think that your heart rate would go up to cool your body.
-
Oh so true!

My dietician specifically said that you need to balance your carb intake because your body only uses so many per day. I don't mean that carbs turn into weight gain, just that over time unused carbs will turn into sugar, whether they came from a healthy source or not.
-
That is true that they are very good for you, you just have to plan to fit them into your carb total for the day. Any extra carbs turn into sugar, which turns into fat. So try to stay within your carb limit for the day.
-
Unfortunately, a carb is a carb, no matter if its icecream or an apple. So, if you are already at your limit for the day, try a protein snack.

After 3 years of losing weight- I can tell you that those .2's add up. A loss is a loss, not a gain! =)

Although I am young, have done weight training and have lost 103 lbs over 3 years, I do have stretched out skin on my stomach that will not go away without surgery. Every persons body reacts differently.
