  • I can't eat oatmeal but I just started making a brown rice porridge that's similar to oatmeal but tastier (at least I think so!) I make mine in my crockpot so I can just let it cook all day, but I imagine you could also cook it on the stove. Here's my recipe: Prep time: 5 minutes Cook time: 3-5 hours Serves 10-12…
  • I have celiac as well. My diary is open, feel free to add me! You'll have to end up making a lot of foods from scratch but I'd recommend always having some sort of snack foods in the house that are safe for you. I remember when I first went gluten free when I got really hungry I would have these little emotional breakdowns…
  • I have celiac disease and have found that anything with wheat, rye or barley (gluten) causes a big flare up in my fibro. But I do fine with non-gluten carbs so everyone is definitely different. Other than gluten, it doesn't seem like any foods actually cause a flare up for me. But it's so interesting to see what makes…
  • I have fibro as well as Celiac disease and RA. Feel free to add me :)
  • I gained about 25lbs in the 3 years since I went gluten free. I think a lot of it is due to the fact that before I found out I had celiac I would eat huge portions because I just wasn't absorbing it and I was constantly hungry. Once I stopped eating gluten I started absorbing the calories but still had the habits of eating…
  • I'm no longer vegetarian but I grew up vegetarian until I was 21. I still don't eat that much meat (it's more expensive). I'd recommend diving in to various ethnic foods. I'd recommend Indian (Madhur Jaffrey's cookbooks are amazing) to start with. There's tons of really delicious, naturally vegetarian Indian recipes.…
  • I order mine from Bobs Red Mill or from Amazon. Amazon has some great deals where if you sign up to have certain products delivered every few months (you can choose how often) you get a discount. Also, Amazon Prime often has free or cheaper shipping if you're ordering things online pretty often. I get Bob's Red Mill Gluten…
  • That sounds delicious! I'll have to pick up some chia seeds and try it out. I've never had them before so I'm not really sure of the flavor, can anyone describe what this would taste like if I used regular old skim milk instead of flavored milk? Is it tasty on its own or does it need fruit/cinnamon/etc?

  • That's a great idea. I need to make myself a new hoop but I may try to do a 30/28 challenge for February :)
  • Well, I have to eat gluten free anyway because of my Celiac disease, but I'm a big fan of buckwheat pastas. I usually get mine at the local asian grocery stores, but a lot of regular grocery stores are starting to carry them too. Try to find something that's mostly buckwheat or quinoa or millet. They're really tasty and…
  • Hello! My diary is open to friends, but feel free to friend away :) I don't cook anything fancy and I tend to eat more ethnic (Thai, Indian, Mexican, Venezuelan, Vietnamese, etc.) food that more European style foods but you're welcome to take a peak! I have Celiac Disease which means I cannot have even a part per million…
  • Added :) I've been gluten free almost 4 years now. I can't say I like it (I live in New Orleans and it really sucks not being able to enjoy the amazing food) but I do love cooking so I guess it sort of balances out. Anyone is welcome to add me, it's always good to have people as friends that are going through the same…
  • My husband is a baker so on the days he works I get up with him. Which means that I get to the gym between 3am and 5am, depending on how early he has to work. So you're not the only one! I love getting my workout done early, it makes me so much more productive at work and I love being able to just crash out after work.
  • That's ridiculous that your MFP friends are so critical. You should be able to keep your diary private and shouldn't have to defend yourself. I'd say definitely unfriend the people who are being so mean but maybe also post something on your profile along the lines of "I keep my diary private for a reason, please do not…
  • I'm a 32F so I sort of understand your pain :) What I end up doing is wearing a full coverage bra that crosses in the back, then a very tight sports bra and then a tight workout shirt. But I still have a lot of bounce. I don't run, but you might try doubling or tripling up on various kinds of bras/supportive tops.
  • I also like putting them in soups but I tend to make spicy curried soups. My favorite is to either buy boxed butternut squash soup (or to roast and then puree butternut squash, sweet potatoes or yams - or a combination) and then add whatever root veggies I have around the house. I add a bunch of Indian spices such as…
  • I've taken Savella since I was first diagnosed in December 2011. It's worked wonders for me! I went from barely able to walk 10 minutes to being able to exercise daily (nothing too strenuous). I also take a variety of other meds for my other conditions but just Savella for my fibro.
  • I know this is a really old post but I wanted to respond anyway. I've pierced over scars (rejected bellybutton piercings plus healed over nipple piercings) and not only is the actual piercing way more painful but it's really really hard for the site to heal properly. I'd recommend now piercing in the same place until it's…
  • It took mine about a year - year and a half. It seemed like everything made my stomach angry (except spicy foods, oddly enough). For me I just couldn't digest dairy so when I kept eating it after I went gluten free I was constantly sick. But I cut out dairy completely and I started being able to eat other things again. I…
  • I've got one of those and two horizontals (used to have 3 horizontals) and I love it. I've had it about 4 years now and I haven't had any problems with it. It definitely increased my sensitivity (I wasn't that sensitive there before) and for the first few months I had it walking to class was quite an enjoyable experience…
  • Welcome! I've sent you a friend request. That's what we're here for - to keep each other motivated on this journey!
  • Pierced and tattooed girl here. Feel free to add me - I could definitely use some more tattooed friends. That's one of my main reasons for wanting to get in shape - I've got a huge tattoo on my stomach that I would love to feel more comfortable showing off all the time!
  • I know exactly what you mean, when I was first diagnosed I had the hardest time moving at all. I started out taking 10 minute walks (very slowly) 5 days a week and after a couple weeks of doing that I upped the time a bit. I took it super super super slowly and just focused on moving rather then getting in shape or losing…
