  • I am glad you have set the goal on the first 20 pounds. This makes it doable. I know you can do this and when you lose the first 20 and hit that goal, it will get easier. I had bypass surgery in 2009 and have 20 pounds to lose to attain what I want to weigh. I am confident it can be done and I know we can do this. Logging…
  • I weigh my protein portions after cooking. I have always done this and it works for me.
  • WOW, Look at you....you go girl...What a big difference. It's good that you realize how far you have come and it won't be long before these after pictures posted on March 15 will be your new before pictures not too long from now. Great job and keep up the great work in losing those pounds.
  • Glad to hear your surgery went well. I also was a cake decorator for44 years, retiring in 2010. I was 309 pre-surgery on 12/30/2009 and now am 162 and still trying to hit goal of 30 more pounds. My body wants to be at this weight. You will do great and will amaze yourself at how great you will look and feel. Friend me so…

  • Going from "obese" to "overweight " is a big step in the right direction. Great job and look out summer and being normal.
  • Here is a good website. Check it out. www.DiscussWLS.com
  • Get yourself some Jimmy Dean delights to eat for breakfast. They are 259 calories with 15 grams of protein and take 2 minutes in the microwave to heat from frozen. I also eat Oikos plain lowfat yogurt with some Arcadia Farms granola in it. The Oikos is 26 grams of protein in 1 cup. For a snack get some Proti brand Protein…
  • Jimmy Dean Delights are also great , I get them at Sams Club also. 12 to a box and you keep them frozen. 2 minutes in the microwave and you have a great breakfast or whenever meal ,only 267 calories and high protein count. I can't eat a whole one, so I cut it in half and have the other half later as a snack to get my…
  • I had my surgery 3 years ago. I really do not have trouble with most food but steak and any beef, I find make me uncomfortable. I like chicken but find when I cook it it is a little dry, even though it is juicy. The solution for this I found out is to brine the poultry before cooking. The brine does something to the fibers…
  • I know what you mean. My close friends now say that they can't remember me at my pre-op weight. I carry my old drivers license with me to show them. They are amazed that I have lost so much . You yourself will start to forget how you looked before surgery. I hate to say this but when I see my before picture I get…
  • I had a sleep study done 6 months after surgery and passed, so I have not had to use it at all. That was a great plus for me, I hated using it. I even had to use oxygen with my CPAP machine at night.
  • Being off medications No more CPAP machine, thank God...... No longer use walker or cane to get around Have hip bones and collar bones, which feels abnormal..LOL Love clothes now, in fact I have too many Also too many shoes Feel and look healthy I like the weight I am even though my goal is to lose 32 more pounds I love…
  • Great pics...you look beautiful.
  • You did it the hard way...What willpower you must have...Great job........., no tremendous job....
  • Your before picture looks like it could be a picture of your Father...Now....What a HOTTIE. Congrats.
  • Great job, you look like a different person.
  • I told my doctor I am always cold...he laughed and said you lost all your blubber.....so now you have to put on more clothes. I thought that might be right, what else would cause the cold nose, freezing hands and feet. I used to be hot all the time now it's the opposite. I'm always cold. I take a jacket everywhere. Had my…
  • I truely get it...I had RNY gastric bypass 12/30/2009. I was 309 , my lowest was 154 and am now 162, having put on 8 pounds and have now gone back to a liquid food plan which I just started today and am aiming for doing it for a week. I started eating things that weren't healthy and know I have to stop. Doing the liquids,…
  • I use the Bariatric Advantage UNFLAVORED I don't like anything too sweet and the flavored protein powder seems too sweet for me. With the unflavored you can add anything to it to make your own drinks. I mix mine with water and I especially like to put some decaf instant coffee granules in the water before adding the…
  • If you chew really well and eat slowly and QUIT when you are starting to feel full this doesn't happen. I had that problem and found out quickly not to overfill the pouch. Besides the hiccups the pain from filling the pouch makes me behave. I laughed at the comment that hiccups were a "full gauge"..it's true. I eat and…
  • I put temptation away where I can't see it. If you don't see it, you won't want it. Picture something gross on it and that will make you stop. It works for me.
  • I think some company will buy Hostess and carry on...there are too many "Twinkie junkies" out there. They have been part of life for a long time and all the hoopla about them going out of business will cause some company to step up and take over.
  • What a difference. You should be proud, not embarassed.
  • Greek yogurt (23 grams protein in 1 cup) with some thawed frozen blueberries in it. Cottage cheese, low fat with fresh peach cut up in it. Kashi Go Lean (13 gram protein) cereal with skim milk. A protein shake(23 grams protein) with a banana blended in it or make it with instant coffee instead of water or milk for a cool…
  • I know what you mean. I have the same problem but not with sweets, it's with food. Not eating the right way. I got myself back on track last week and have dropped a few pounds, that's incentive to eat healthy. I don't want to gain back weight and neither do you so stay focused and keep going to your goal. Add me as a…
  • The reason for the 20 pound weight loss before surgery was for the insurance to pay for the surgery. I know that was my case. I had the RNY bypass and also the gall bladder removal, both laproscopic and was prepared for a horrible time of it. I had made arrangements to stay with a friend so she could take care of me, but I…
  • RNY is a gastric bypass operation; where they make your stomach into a pouch the size of an egg and re-route the intestine. It is a drastic measure but was my last resort to being healthy. It limits the amount of food you can eat and changes how your body absorbs nutrients. You can't metabolize sugar and have to limit any…
  • There is a sugar free gum from Wrigley's it is labeled Extra Dessert Delights and comes in several flavors. My brother and I went out to eat and when the check came there was 2 sticks of gum on the tray. I remarked how dumb it was because not everyone chews gum. My brother popped a piece in his mouth and told me I had to…
  • Hi, I am new to this post and have new goals for November. I had RNY bypass surgery 12/30/2009 and have lost 151 pounds since then but have started eating what I should not be eating due to stress. So, my goals for November and your support will help me get back on track. I would like to lose 30 pounds and I am really…
