2 1/2 years ago, my doctor told me, "Melissa, if you don't do something you'll be dead within 5 years." 3 months ago the same doctor told me, "You are healthier than you have been in your life." From 400+lbs to Onederland! From a BMI of 65 to 30 (and still going). From an A1C of 13 to 6 and 900 units of insulin a day to…

If you are only 6 weeks out, I would make sure whatever they give you can be broken up into tic tac size pieces.

My FitBit automatically counts the calories I burn from walking and applies that as part of my daily activity, which is why I was debating on lightly active. I don't want to end up not burning enough calories a day or burning too many.

This and this. I don't consider myself a protein bar snob, but I eat 2 a day. I  cheese, but 4 cheese sticks aren't going to fill me up like a protein bar does.

Before I started the weight loss, my A1C bounced from 10-13, even though I was on oral meds and about 900 units of insulin a day. I even ended up in the hospital with a sugar of 875 and in a diabetic coma. Last A1C...6.1. No more oral meds, just one small dose of Lantus at bedtime. Losing weight makes all the difference!

I love the scan barcode feature, makes it so much faster!

I just got my FitBit today and I would love to get some MFP friends that use FitBit too. Please add me! https://www.fitbit.com/user/27KDL5

For me, walking is the only exercise I do, because I hate exercising. I love walking! I've been a little slack the last 2 months because walking in the Alabama heat just isn't pleasant. Once the cooler weather sets in though, I walk a couple of miles a day.

I am 5'5" and started with a BMI of 62.4 at 375lbs. Scary :noway: I am now down to 210lbs and a BMI of 34.9. My goal is 145lbs which puts me at a BMI of 24.1 which is just barely under the high end of normal. I have never been skinny and my doctor said anywhere between 145 and 160 would be a reasonable healthy weight for…

Hi ladies! I am Lissa and I had RNY in Dec 2011. So far I am down 165lbs and I have actually lost more weight since joining MFP than I did the first 10 months after my surgery without it. Its been such a wonderful tool! I would love to help support and get support from other bariatric patients. Most people don't understand…
-
I find that Walmart is cheaper than GNC, but depending on the surgery you are having, be wary of the pill sizes. Also, make sure you are getting the right kind of calcium. As I am a post-RNY, I have to make sure I take calcium citrate (like Citracal) not calcium carbonate (like Viactiv). There are a couple of companies…

Baxter is my 4 year old mini dachshund (teenie weenie). We are supposed to keep him between 8-10 lbs as doxies have back problems. He's been right around 9 pounds for most of his adult life. He is not the most active dog, he would much prefer to spend the day in bed and is not happy at all when I take him out for anything…

Feel free to add me. I love love love MFP! I still have 60-80 pounds to go.

Thanks everyone! Couldn't have done it without the support of my MFP buds!

I didn't actually know you could hook MFP to FB. My FB friends have been really supportive of my weight loss progression and I keep pictures and updates posted there. *shrug*

Amazing work! Great feeling, isn't it? I started at 375, so I know how you feel :) Keep up the good work!!!!!

Fast food anything. Chocolate anything. Pizza. This list could go on for days...

I tend to average right around 800 calories, even though I am slated at around 1200-1300. I am 18 months post-RNY and I find I just can't eat that much. I am good about getting in about 80 grams of protein a day. I don't have a very rigorous exercise schedule, so I am not burning a ton of calories a day either. I am still…
