  • Sounds good. I will try it, too. Thanks for sharing!
  • Thanks for the link to the information. Best I've seen so far. I'll start tonight.
  • Congratulations. Hug your family for all of us out here. Thanks for summarizing it so well. Its an individual lifestyle change for each of us.
  • Congratulations!!!. Even though its kind of a silent milestone, I'll never forget when I went from the obese BMI category to the overweight category. Great job!
  • So glad you shared and SO glad to see all the support you've gotten here thus far. My cancer fight is 12 years ago. The hardest part is some of what you are facing now - the unknown. The hospital, the treatments, the "what happens next" that seems to go on and on. First, believe your doctor, you will be all right. But you…
  • Congratulations! I remember when I hit that mark at the end of last year. Its fun to watch the milestones go by.
  • Friendship cottage cheese is VERY low in salt. But it just needs a shake or so. Sometimes a bit of Kraft creamy Italian dressing (there's the salt). And chopped onion. Mmmmm.
  • Knowing that by paying attention to my health (how much I weigh, how active I am, what I eat, etc.) that I am extending my life. Hearing my grown son say how proud he is of me for losing weight (and he's never said that before, not even that he was concerned). Having enough energy to get through the day and working all day…
  • Yes, do it. I have a One and love it. Wear it all the time. Its mindless recording with its sync to MFP.
  • Thanks for doing this, Barbie. My goals aren't that formal, but I do stick to not gaining any weight back. I still work full time and June is a busy month for me. So ongoing goals? Working on the garden, but its getting hot here in North Florida, but the weeks still keep growing. (make progress in May) Keeping up with…
  • I have a 24 oz insulated water bottle. I drink one in the morning and evening plain. I drink two mid-day slightly flavored. I have one beside the bed if I get up at night. I drink some of it when I wake up before breakfast. Its way more than the 64 oz that is recommended by some, but it feels good to me.

  • Hi, Don't be scared. Its just living. Do you have a support system of friends and relatives? Talk to them. If not, talk to your doctor. You shouldn't feel that way. Nothing in life is quick, after all, you just spent a year doing a really good thing. Have some patience and take one day (or one hour) at a time. Get on the…
  • Check out the Boar's Head website for low sodium, etc. You'll get some ideas of what is available. I vote for chicken, too. Egg salad, just protein and vegetables, etc.
  • I had a friend who recommended it to me. She was following it and had lowered her cholesterol. I had also seen another presentation (another author) on similar ideas on PBS. By that time I had already lost about 30 pounds all by myself. It was also about that time that I found this site. I got the Hyman's ebook and have…
  • Have you figured out the allure? Crunch? Salt? Fat? For me it was crunch and salt. Yes, individual portions helps. Keep it out of sight. :-) Lightly salted brown rice cakes cover it for me. When I really want something, restaurant style tortilla chips (less salt than you would expect) works for me. Keep after it, you'll…
  • Congratulations! I haven't seen anyone talk about speaking with a skin doctor (dermatologist). If you talk to a surgeon, the answer is surgery . . . Keep working on it. I've only lost 60 pounds but have a similar problem.
  • Kind bars with chocolate. Some are plus with protein, some are plus with antioxidants, etc. Doesn't give you a sugar rush. Have to leave room for the calories, though.
  • I want to hear responses, too. I'm down 60 pounds and have 20-30 to go and have trouble staying motivated. I'm enjoying where I am now, but I'll enjoy it more if I finish. One of the reasons I slowed down was I don't know how to maintain once I get there and wanted to experiment a little. It hasn't worked. So for me, back…
  • The instructions I've seen say 15 min for each inch of thickness. Hard to determind since its not an even thickness all the way through. I "bake' mine in the oven, in a covered dish. I sprinkle it with garlic/herb (no salt) mix, dill weed, a little salt, and lemon juice. I check it after 15 min and cut off any thin…
  • And what I haven't seen mentioned (where to start): get it out of the house. You need to develop new habits without it being part of your life. Besides stress, boredom and eating mindlessly were hard things for me to change. Its a one day at a time thing. Yes, go cold turkey. But work on the rest of your plan a little at a…
  • Way to go. I'm right there with you.
  • I love mine. Get it. (Look on QVC for good prices)
  • When my husband was in the army in the 60's, they were called "grass drill"

  • Good for you. Setup is easy, and seeing where you are during the day is fun. You still do all your logging in MFP. I sync with my computer, my ipad, and my iphone, depending on where I am, etc. Well worth getting. I am still not doing much exercise so it will be even more helpful when I do that.
  • Hi macattack. I think you bring up a topic that we all face - finding the time to be active. I am fortunate because my son is grown so I only have myself to worry with. It sounds like you are doing this all by yourself. Are your wife and kids helping? Encouraging? Sabotaging? I know the time you have may not sync up with…
  • Hi, you raise an interesting question. I don't want to throw water on your enthusiasm, but you need to think seriously about this and do your homework. Anything that is invasive may cause problems as you get older. I am a breast cancer survivor (r breast). Between the lumpectomies and the radiation, that breast was about…
  • Good for you!! Doesn't it feel exciting to see and feel the progress and know how much better you feel and how much more you can do. Best wishes for the rest of the journey and your life. :-)
  • It sure does. I'd like a copy, too.
  • I also get the 5 foods to eat or not to eat. I start with CNN every day, so maybe its tied into that . . .
